For most, finding out you’re going to have a baby is a time of joy. Even if it wasn’t planned, pregnancy is a fairly big milestone in life.
When it’s time, how will you let friends and family know? From pesky parents wanting to know when they will be grandparents to your BFF who you used to consider baby names with when you weren’t much more than a baby yourself.
Some will simply pick up the phone and share the happy news. Some are going to be much more creative than that, and it’s those that we share.
Here are 70 of the most creative baby announcements couples have dreamed up.
1. Pinned it!
Maybe they plan to use cloth diapers? Regardless, this is a “neat as a pin” way of announcing an expanding family.
2. Wait. What?
They want you to be excited about the new kid, but they start off by pushing you aside. Or out!
3. Study project
Fido Crotchsniffer has some reading to do! Especially You’re Still the Alpha, and Don’t Eat the Baby.
4. Mario!
Someone likes their Nintendo. And Mario looks like he can’t wait for Player Two.
5. What a ham
He’s clearly getting right into his role. I’m sure someone will think their big brother is the best superhero in the world.
6. Realism
What do you want to bet this is something of a reenactment? It’s a very likely situation.
7. A few things
Hopefully that isn’t permanent ink, because she does not want to be stuck at 50%. And I’m sure there will be times when she feels as if loading has stalled or hung.
8. A musical interlude
This is really cute. A little Vanilla Ice and Ice, Ice, Baby to make your announcement.
9. Preparedness
Mom and dad are vision challenged. Are they nerds too? Either way, it looks like baby’s role will be as a mini-me.
10. Bellies!
We get to see the outcome of mom’s belly. What about those other two bellies? It looks like they are still working on theirs.
11. Advancement
That’s a very special promotion. I’m sure she will be an outstanding big sister!
12. Assembly required
Fortunately for them the assembly is all taken care of. However, in this case, the care and maintenance are the biggest job.
13. Nailed it!
I love the looks on their faces. Exhaustion and confusion. And is dad about to burn a whole in something?
14. Well…
I’m not sure that “Not Again” is a good choice for a birth announcement. Especially one your child may see at some point in the future.
15. So cute!
I love this. Mom and dad in tandem on a bicycle built for two. Pulling a tricycle.
16. A new lineup
The tiny—empty—shoes clearly indicate an addition to the lineup. I do find the dog’s hierarchy in the lineup interesting though. Hmm.
17. Awesome!
The final shot of her before the birth cracks me up. I guess she can’t get those boots on her feet anymore. Then she explodes!
18. It works out
In the end there is an equalizing. She wants all the food, and he gets all the drinks. Seems fair.
19. Aww
And I bet she will make her little brother or sister an awesome friend for life. Every kid should have a dog!
20. Prego!
This is great. And apparently Matthew, the dad, loves Lego. So how appropriate. And creative.
21. They’re Prego!
And they look a bit shocked about it too! At least she is drinking responsibly. She’s drinking ginger ale instead of the wine he has. Has she got what’s supposed to be on his plate too?
22. Team Dominguez
It looks like there’s been some expansion to the team Dominguez roster. There new team member on the way.
23. Artistic
This is very cute. With the arrows pointing to their new little peanut.
24. Ohhh!
This one took me a minute. But the two of them plus equals 3. Simple but effective.
25. Nope!
She is too cute to have a best before date or an expiry date. But we get the idea.
26. Oh, boy
I had to check my math on this one. I guess she is having twins!
27. Mickey!
Someone likes Disney. And they are about to start a new adventure with their own little musketeer.
28. Hmm
Is this going to be an Autumn birth? Or was conception in Autumn when pumpkins are plentiful?
29. Action & Adventure
I was trying to pick the genre for this movie. It was either that or horror. Look at the looks on their faces. And the paint splatter!
30. The glow!
They say pregnant women glow. She is surrounded by a halo of glow! I wonder if Imogen has come yet.
31. Timber!
Clearly, dad is more that a little shocked. But let’s hope he’s excited and thrilled as well.
32. An oldie
This isn’t terribly original, but it is cute. They have a bun in the oven
33. Haha
I didn’t check, but I’m guessing this isn’t a real book. But perhaps the For Dummies publishers should consider it?
34. The game of life?
This is a very cute idea. They say the family that plays together stays together. It looks like there are good things in store.
35. Baby kicks
Looks like they are expecting another girl. Maybe she’ll be a ballerina.
36. Exclusive!
Well, there friends can read all about it. In case there was any doubt, Brad’s boys can swim.
37. So cute
And apparently talking to birds. Birds with exciting news.
38. Good boys!
These good boys have some new jobs coming in the future. Very important jobs. I think they look thrilled.
39. Surprise
I bet you never seen a Kinder Surprise that looks like this. But mom wears it well, doesn’t she?
40. Oh, oh!
There may be some rough terrain ahead for those mountain bikers. I’m guessing there are twins in their future.
41. Um, okay
I wonder if their last name is Wiener? And are those things really orange?
42. The dog!
The dog looks exhausted already, and the fun hasn’t even begun. And I love the delay in setting down the second pair… then dad’s reaction.
43. So hard
One of the hardest parts of pregnancy is giving up wine—or I guess beer in this case. But the benefits far outweigh the torture, right?
44. Hello!
Love the name tags. Even one for the dog. Mom of course gets two, including one for the big question mark.
45. Hmm
Well, I don’t know if this really qualifies for an announcement. I mean maybe it is and I’m just missing something. But it is a gorgeous picture!
46. Help me out here
I’m a bit behind on my Star Wars trivia, but Darth and a Storm Trooper? Am I missing something?
47. Cutie!
I don’t read Spanish but there is no guessing when it comes to this book. Clearly, mom and dad are expecting. I love the look on her face.
48. The debate
There is some debate about the benefits—or lack of them—for bottle fed babies. This picture shows one of the benefits. Drink what you want.
49. Semper Fi
So they have a little Marine in training. At least one of them is prepared for the battle ahead.
50. Last minute cramming
For all the books out there about parenthood, so much of it is by the seat of your pants. So yeah, that PhD is likely useless in this case.
51. Very artistic
Even without the thrill of this being an announcement, these are really well done. And that tiny, little pumpkin. Adorable!
52. Keeping fit
It looks like they are taking part in a marathon. I think some training for stamina is a great idea for any expecting parents.
53. Hmm
You know, this probably means something to people that know them. And makes a lot more sense. Or maybe I’m just not getting it.
54. Hmmm
I guess this is more of a birth announcement. Plus mom, dad, and sibling? It’s hard to tell.
55. A boy!
Maybe this is more of a gender reveal than a we’re expecting announcement. And it looks like mom and dad are getting a boy.
56. Big brother
He looks serious and up to the task. What do you think? A small but mighty companion for life?
57. Or neither?
Looks like mom and dad have some distinct expectations. But we know kids can go their own direction, don’t we?
58. I’m confused
None of those shoes look like baby shoes. Is there something I’m missing here?
59. Wanna bet?
What do you think? What are the chances they get a duplicate? I bet that duplicator delivers something entirely unique.
60. Superhero family
I guess when the whole family are superheroes there’s a good chance baby will be too. At least it will get the right training.
61. Dr. Seuss
Someone let the cat out of the hat—uh, bag. Mom is expecting another Thing.
62. Squeezing in
Making room for another set of shoes. Another set of feet. Another bundle of joy to add to the household.
63. Good thing!
If that said Intel Inside mom could find herself in a trademark battle. But it’s all good, and one day Luca will be outside.
64. Earth shattering!
Or perhaps cataclysmic? Either way, someone is expecting a boy and it seems that it will have quite the impact on the family.
65. Great card
This is the kind of card I can see giving your BFF when you find out you’re pregnant. At least it’s the kind of card I would share.
66. His face!
I can’t tell if he’s horrified, scared, or shocked. And she doesn’t care as long as she has the food she needs.
67. Cute
Yes, it’s all about the dog. And he better get used to the fact that will change. Good things dogs and humans go so well together.
68. And the winner is…
I bet these two can’t wait. Are there going to be two girls or two boys?
69. Haha
You can see where there might be some confusion. He definitely has a pregnant looking tummy.
70. To the point
I love this. Simple and to the point. But it says all that needs to be said.
