The mega-successful cosmetic company, CoverGirl, has been around since 1961. They have been trendsetters for decades. Every year, they select beautiful faces to represent their brand. For years, they have been known for having fresh-faced young female models, but lately — they’re diversifying.
Last year, CoverGirl had their first CoverBoy represent their famous brand. Then, their first CoverGirl wearing a hijab. And now? A 69-year-old stunning woman named Maye Musk.
Musk couldn’t be more honored and ecstatic to be part of such a wonderful, successful company. The fact that she is much older than the “traditional” model doesn’t seem to bother her one bit. In fact — she embraces her age.
“Aging has been good for me,” Musk told the New York Times. “You develop confidence, you’re able to handle the knocks a little easier. I model for my age. I’m not trying to hide it and say I’m 50. I’m so proud that I’m going be 70.”
Musk’s beauty, grace, and poise are the perfect representation of the well-known cosmetics brand. She naturally exudes confidence.
Musk decided to stop dying her gray, more like silver, hair once she turned 60-years-old; she decided just to let all the gray grow out. Resulting in absolutely gorgeous, vivid white hair.
“I don’t dye my hair. It’s so fabulous.” And what happened once she stopped trying to fight those grays? “Suddenly I have all these editorials and bookings, and everybody is loving it.”
Not only has Musk been modeling for over five decades; she also has two M.S. degrees and is a dietician.
“I always modeled part-time, thinking it would end. And it hasn’t, of course. ‘Just getting started’ is my hashtag.”
And even though she’s almost 70-years-old, she has zero plans of calling it quits anytime soon.
“People are living longer and enjoying their lives more and know they don’t have to disappear at 65 when they retire. I will never retire. My mom never retired. I’ll work until no one wants me anymore, and then I’ll find something else.”
Musk is an incredible, admirable, and inspiring woman. Not only is she gorgeous, but she’s shattering stereotypes. It goes to show that you should never stop doing what you love and to never give up on your dreams.
