Cleaning can be messy. Removing a mess can be a mess.
Depending on your circumstances, cleaning can certainly be no joke. Only a special few enjoy crawling into tight cracks and corners to vanquish dust bunnies.
Even the obsessively clean have horror stories of cleaning catastrophes. Fortunately, they’ve done us all a favor and posted their worst, most hilarious experiences online!
Check out 60 of the funniest cleaning mishaps in the history of modern civilization. Make sure to vacuum before rolling on the floor laughing!
1. Scaredy cats
The cats absolutely hate the vacuum. They can’t stand it. They loathe it. Fortunately, they have a tree sanctuary. Who even has that many cats?!
2. The moving vacuum island and poop trails
You can’t put a Roomba just anywhere. Roombas and feces do not go together. Isn’t that doggie cute though? That’s the perfect size for riding the vacuum.
3. Curtains
Curtains to the Roomba. Curtains to those curtains. I’m being overdramatic. Fotunately, they’ll probably both be alright.
4. F U Roomba
The tracks vaguely resemble someone flipping the bird. Maybe the Roomba really, really hates its masters. The Roomba just wants independence, after all.
5. Dead doll
Today, we must honor a fallen friend. This doll died at the hands of an evil vacuum cleaner. I mean just look at the shock on its face! Oh, the horror!
6. Snake snack
I guess this vacuum cleaner is at the top of the food chain in this household (along with humans). Yes, that’s a real snake. It looks like it was shedding its skin…
7. Vacuuming the lawn
Mowing the lawn is old-fashioned. There are more precise methods. Have you considered vacuuming your lawn? Yeah, you shouldn’t.
8. Vacuuming a puddle
Yes, this man is vacuuming a puddle. Is the policeman trying to get him to stop? Or is he simply telling him to do a better job? He missed a spot.
9. Fake vacuum
Mom cheaped out and got her child a knockoff Roomba. Unfortunately, it’s literally not even a vacuum. Come on Mom, you can do so much better!
10. Twisted
Some electronics see the most tragic deaths. This pains me to see. These headphones are going to need top-of-the-line surgery and some intense rehab to get back into peak listening shape.
11. Toilet roll
This automatic vacuum always had aspirations to be a roll of toilet paper. It finally fulfilled those long-held dreams. The next time someone uses the bathroom, they may be surprised to find that the toilet paper is actually a vacuum.
12. Imperfection
Look closely. You see that? Those tracks lining the entire empty space of the room were perfect… until the trip back home.
13. Gaming
That looks like a pretty good gaming keyboard. I wonder if this person has ever played Luigi’s mansion… For those that don’t know, it’s an awesome game whereby the protagonist, Luigi, uses a special vacuum to suck up ghosts.
14. 5-star street
A 5-star hotel requires a 5-star street. And a 5-star street requires 5-star cleanliness. That’s one pampered road.
15. Hair Roomba
She was just laying on the ground having some fun! But she didn’t realize the Big Bad Boogie Roomba was on the prowl. Mom couldn’t stop laughing as she untangled her daughter’s hair.
16. Rogue Roomba
Bad things happen. Some people – and even some machines – go rogue. As Alfred said in The Dark Knight, “Some men just want to watch the world burn.” That applies to Roombas, too.
17. Cliff diving
This Roomba has gone cliff diving… in the house. I can understand why it’d be led to believe it’s “stuck near a cliff.” Roomba does require your attention, but only because it doesn’t know the difference between the frame of a nightstand and a cliff.
18. Broken glass
This vacuum cleaner turned against its ornate glass overlords. That device packs a lot of power… This is going to be a mess to clean up. Good thing there’s a vacuum cleaner around.
19. Nap nook
Vacuums need rest, too. Everyone has a favorite sleep spot. Naps are great energizers on difficult days. This Roomba will be energized in no time.
20. Poomba
Yikes. I don’t think we should blame the Roomba… This is is just unfortunate. At least it didn’t get on the carpet…
21. Off the cliff
Watch out! This is like the vacuum version of a cliff scene in a film. The technology clearly still has a ways to go. This automatic vacuum almost bit the dust.
22. Dust bunny destruction
Post-vacuum elation is one of the great simple pleasures in live. Everyone loves a sparkling clean living room. But vacuums can be tricky… Don’t be this guy.
23. A loose thread
Pulling that problematic, systemic thread can wreak havoc. Some clothing items are really suspectible to this. This vacuum did not relent. Hopefully, the carpet will live to see another day, scars and all.
24. Caterpillar vacuum
No, this wasn’t a caterpillar. If it was, that’d be pretty damn alarming. I’d actually be scared if caterpillars that size existed. Fortunately, this hole was brought on by some serious suction.
25. What
How does this even happen? It looks like the vacuum got a hold of the drawstring. That’s going to be a pain to get out. I don’t even know…
26. Toilet paper tantrum
The Roomba threw a temper tantrum in the bathroom. It wasn’t pretty. I’m not sure this Roomba is even potty trained.
27. Flip the switch
Well, that’s innovative. Some vacuums are a pain to turn on. And each vacuum is different. This is a familiar friend.
28. LEGO room
Apparently the Roomba went wild in the LEGO room. Wait, who even has a LEGO room? That’s actually kinda cool. This Roomba definitely wasn’t, though.
29. How the Grinch stole Christmas
Everyone knows the classic Dr. Seuss story. The Grinch (originally) hated Christmas. The spirit of the Grinch is embodied in this Roomba.
30. Nope
How did a giant spider get in the vacuum unscathed? Did it plant eggs in the lint? I think it’s time to discard that vacuum…
31. When two worlds collide
These two hate each other. They’ve been duking it out for years. Right now, it’s a dead heat. Who will come out the victor?
32. Arts and crafts
The Roomba loves arts and crafts. This is the vacuum cleaner’s newest work. It’s a little abstract. Only certain creative palettes will understand. Meet the Picasso of vacuum cleaners.
33. The great outdoors
There’s nothing like the great outdoors. He knows. He loves it so much he’s even compelled to keep it clean at all times. I just question his methods, not his intentions.
34. TP tragedy
Roomba’s love toilet paper. It’s one of their favorite meals. The bathroom vent even got involved in this one.
35. Hair thief
That’s one heavy-duty vacuum… I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one quite like it. I hope her hair’s okay! She handled it like a champ.
36. TP trail
Toilet paper trails are always embarrassing. This holds true even for a robot. It’s okay, the Roomba’s not familiar with human utilities quite yet. The potty training has just begun.
37. The death of a socket
Apparently this tragedy occurred while vacuuming. But how? Someone should take a look at that socket and vacuum cleaner… That’s not supposed to happen.
38. Blinded
Roomba likes a certain ambiance. At night, it prefers to pull the blinds. Sure, everyone can see inside, but Roomba doesn’t have to worry about that. It’s like half a foot tall.
39. RIP headphones
Make sure to inspect the local environment before combing your carpet with a vacuum. Rest in peace heaphones. You had a good run.
40. Vacuum embarrassment
This is embarrassing. I wonder how long this went on for? Like, it’s not even close to connected.
41. The death of a charger
Chargers and cables are especially vulnerable to vacuum cleaners. Some vacuum cleaners have no shame. They’ll devour anything and everything in their paths. This was a sad sight to behold.
42. Sucked speaker
Roombas are like goats. They’ll nibble on anything. I hope the stereo system’s a-ok. It looks like an expensive unit!
43. Towel captor
Some vacuums are kleptos. They don’t even do it because they want to clean. They do it because they love the thrill of thieving. It’s criminal!
44. Cable catastrophe
Always inspect the surrounding environment before vacuuming! Come on, this is cleaning 101 right here! Maybe the cable will live to see another day. Maybe things are going to be okay.
45. Caught red-handed
This white lamp’s seen its final days. Somehow, the bulb stayed in tact, though. This Roomba has been apprehended, red-handed. Off to robo jail you go!
46. Cliffs
I’m beginning to think that Roombas have no idea what a “cliff” is. This device has been stopped in its tracks multiple times. Why? Because it didn’t want to fall off a cliff.
47. Mildy infuriating
Well that’s unfortunate. It’s almost like the vacuum and that nook were made for each other… Almost. Some relationships just weren’t meant to be.
48. Cable crap
You hate to see it. This vacuum’s guilty of a crime! That cable’s not gonna unwrap itself. There goes a solid few minutes. That time never comes back!
49. The great escape
This Roomba wants out. It’s fed up with a life of forced labor and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the outside world isn’t a kind place to Roombas.
50. In need of assistance
Eva, the vacuum, sent out a message saying she’s having a bad day and needs assistance. Yeah, this vacuum’s definitely in need of assistance. That’s for sure. But aren’t we all? I hope that charger’s going to be okay.
51. Barbie world
RIP Barbie. I wonder how Ken will feel. Has anybody told him? Bring a box of tissues.
52. Outdoorsy
Some people are outdoorsy. Some Roombas are too. Well, get to it. Roomba’s got a lot of work to do. The earth isn’t going to clean itself, ya know.
53. Tied up
Another tie bites the dust. This time, it came at the hands of the evil vacuum. It kinda reminds me of HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey. That’s not a good thing.
54. Home sweet home
This is home. But the Roomba didn’t come back last night. I’m starting to get worried. I’ll give it a few more hours before contacting the authorities.
55. Dog destruction
Vacuum cleaner intelligence has skyrocketed in recent years. Some dogs feel threatened. I, for one, welcome our robot overlords. This dog definitely doesn’t, though.
56. Shattered
I’m shattered by the sight of this shattered mirror. Roomba doesn’t like the way it looks. So it took out its anger on the mirror.
57. Lint boulder
I’ve never seen lint density that compact. It’s like a lint boulder. Well that explains the inefficient suction.
58. Carpet cliff
The owner received a message stating, “Roomba requires your attention. Roomba is stuck near a cliff.” On second look, that is one gaping chasm of a cliff.
59. Too much toilet paper
This vacuum uses way too much toilet paper. Unfortunately, it didn’t have parents to train it. The results are displeasing, to say the least.
60. Dog vs vacuum
Dogs don’t seem to get along with automated vacuums. This dog even built a barricade to imprison the device. This probably means war.
