By nature, people appreciate symmetry. Most individuals like when things are organized and structured simply because it makes life so much easier. So, when they see something out of line, it becomes an annoyance.
Depending on the person and the “thing” involved, whether it’s something lopsided, tilted, or wonky, it makes them feel anything from uncomfortable to furious. For some people, it becomes almost impossible to get an annoyance from their minds. Even individuals who aren’t perfectionists don’t like it when something’s out of whack.
To prove this point, consider these 60 photos. Keep in mind that if you’re one of those individuals who hate seeing things off-kilter, you may need a stiff drink or a relaxing bubble bath after viewing them. Otherwise, you might find them either cringe-worthy or somewhat entertaining.
The design of this bathroom floor tile alone is enough to send anyone into a tailspin. But then when you notice the extreme error, it’s enough for you to write a letter to the manufacturer, designer, installer, or someone to file a complaint. This is just horrible.
2. Overachiever or narcissist?
This person might be an overachiever. You know, someone who has to do 100 things at the same time. Or, they’re a narcissist who’s trying to prove to others that they’re superior. Either way, there’s no reason for anyone to have this number of shortcuts on a computer screen.
What do you want to bet the building manager was too cheap to buy a couple of letters? With extra “t’s” and “h’s” on hand, they decided those would work just fine. Even for people who aren’t English majors, this would easily drive them crazy. Time to get out a Sharpie.
Was this cutout done by mistake or are people supposed to put their heads through that thing so they can pretend they’re a French baker? Not only is this annoying but also extremely confusing. Sorry, we don’t get it.
Okay, so they had a certain number of green and red lockers to work with. But this ruins the entire hallway. The only good thing is that friends have an easy place to meet. “Hey, I’ll see you at 2:00 at the red locker.”
Just another foot to the left and they would’ve nailed it. Is it just us or does it seem like the person who painted this was super lazy? You’d think they’d correct their mistake instead of allowing it to drive people nuts.
The people responsible for designing the layout of this neighborhood must’ve been bored on this particular day. So, they wanted to shake things up. If not, there’s no explanation.
And if you don’t believe this message, just look at the way it was printed. This wasn’t rocket science. It was a simple statement that took a really bad turn.
9. It’s all in the details
How does a floor installer do something like this? And why didn’t they fix their mistake? Yes, it’s small, but it’s also super annoying. For anyone who has to see this day after day, it’s enough to make them cringe.
Apparently, the person responsible for this broke their glassed when printing the second version. After getting a new pair, they realized the problem and went back to the original font size. Didn’t they consider how idiotic the series would look on someone’s bookshelf…obviously, not.
How do you know when you’re eating at a bogus high-end restaurant? They hang the chandelier like this. Now you know the next time you go out for an expensive meal you can gauge the establishment’s level of class by the lighting.
12. Excellent work (note a tone of sarcasm)
Look, they used the same color of bricks and lined this up perfectly. What happened to people taking pride in their work? It seems it’s a lost art.
Speaking of not taking pride in work. Instead of using the right size brick or even cutting it to fit, someone finished the job so it looked like this. What a shame.
Since this black racing stripe is so far off center, we’re certain it was done by the car’s owner. Since that’s a super nice car, you’d think they’d have it done professionally or at least take measurements instead of eyeballing it.
…you’ve got to be kidding. Here’s a beautiful home, complete with gorgeous molding. Did the individual who did this really think it was okay? And if they did, why?
16. It’s still functional
That’s about the only nice thing we can say about this. As long as the person trying to fix dinner places the pan on the stove just right, they’ll be fine. If they miss, well, that’s a different story.
17. It’s hardly noticeable
As long as no one looks at the staircase too long, they’ll never see it. Perhaps the people who built this house have an eclectic flair and this was done on purpose. Then again, maybe someone messed up.
For the average person, having this on the corner of every page in the notebook wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But for others, this “optical illusion” would make them dizzy. Personally, we’d want our money back.
A key selling point of this house is the beautiful stairs that are a straight shot to the front door. Oh, and about two feet to the right. Other than that, it’s perfect. On a positive note — it does provide a little extra space for a front porch swing.
After a long day at work, nothing feels better than a hot shower or bubble bath…taken in complete privacy. The person who lives in this house can do just that…minus the privacy. When it comes to bathroom designs, this one gets an “F.”
From the street level, this looks like a lovely apartment building. But if you look up, you’d immediately question whether it’s even safe to live in? Would you want to take a chance living there?
This poor raspberry package…all the others get to share the same name but it’s all on its own. If the company was trying some kind of new marketing strategy, let’s just say it didn’t work.
Someone from Louisiana was trying really hard to be clever. The only problem — the shape of that state doesn’t look anything like the letter “O.” It was a nice try, though.
The kids who fail this teacher’s class have a perfect excuse as to why they should pass. Without completely erasing the chalkboard before moving onto something else, this guy gives his class two outs…either they didn’t understand or they mistook his chicken scratches as part of the lesson.
Well, there are 1,000 reasons why not. First, there’s no symmetry. Second, the number of lights is outrageous. Third, these lights don’t use standard lightbulbs. That should be plenty although there are many more.
When a road starts to look like a Picasso painting, it’s time to repave it. Although the design is nice, this is enough to cause even a non-perfectionist to lose their mind.
That’s what one grandpa tells his granddaughter about every item he purchases. If it has plastic on it, it stays protected. While he has a point, she’s going nuts.
For people who believe in Chinese geomancy, this bathroom is a dream come true. Instead of taking care of business facing the wrong direction, they can maintain peace and harmony. How nice.
29. “Bring Your Kid to Work” day
We’d put money on it that’s what happened here. After all, this looks as though it was done by a five-year-old. So, it makes perfect sense.
That was the response of a worker whose boss asked if he’d put the manhole cover back on. Hey, he didn’t ask if he put it back on correctly. The next time, he might want to check it for himself.
Or in this case, bad morning…every day. Just imagine how you’d feel if the first thing you saw when you woke up was this. It’d probably get your day off to a bad start.
Don’t you hate it when you see something so off that you know you could do a much better job at it? Like this pizza. If a company is going to advertise its delicious Italian-style pie, they might want to work a little harder at cutting it right.
It’s a place for a child to sit. No, it’s a platform to display a vase of flowers. Nope, that’s not it. It’s a serving table, although very low to the ground. Honestly, we have no clue. It’s just there for the sake of being there.
34. Machinery malfunction
That has to be the problem. Why else would a candy manufacturer have their packaging cut so it reads, “onky.” It might be delicious but we can’t imagine very many people would find this funny.
35. A cause of nightmares
Everything about this is wrong. The angle of the sink, the door, the cabinet, and the countertop. Trying to work in a kitchen like this would cause anyone to struggle with sleep. And then there’s the size of the sink…it’s too much to handle.
Surely, plumbers can find straight pipes. This looks horrible and it wastes a lot of valuable space. This would drive a sane person crazy.
All this homeowner wanted was a nice little easement over the front door. Or maybe they wanted a new front door installed under the existing easement. Regardless, someone screwed up big time.
38. Was this really necessary?
Considering this is so blatantly wrong, it won’t take much time before someone sues the company that installed the brick citing it led to undue stress and anxiety. It’s so bad, they might just win their case.
39. Enhancing the picture
It appears the woman of this house believes having half of the television screen covered makes the picture better. But if you were trying to take in all the details of a show, this is more than mind-boggling.
Okay, so if you take your time, you can read this message. But what’s with all the “S’s?” Perhaps this person is trying to use fancy lettering or maybe they never learned to make the correct shape. It’s so disturbing that reading it once is plenty.
Look at that, someone tried to use both round and square light fixtures to make this place more appealing. That we can kind of accept. But the upside-down light at the end…there’s just no rhyme or reason.
42. You just want to scream
Something like this is so maddening. Come on, it doesn’t take any more time to put the numbers in order than to do this. If they thought it was a joke, no one’s laughing.
43. What were they thinking?
Brick buildings are beautiful. Brick buildings like this one…not so much. It looks as though the owner of this apartment complex was trying to save money. But does that make it okay to put the tenants at risk?
First, the pattern on this shower floor isn’t the best. Second, all it takes is for one small tile to be a little lopsided and that’s all you see for the rest of day. Especially for a perfectionist, this would be extremely difficult.
Something as insignificant as this could easily cause someone to miss their train. They become fixated on the mistake and before they know it, their ride has come and gone. It’s time to use a different station.
46. Something seems a little off
Not only is the garage lopsided but that’s also a very short garage door. Someone would have to have a super small vehicle or ride a motorcycle to even use it. It makes no sense.
How hard can it be to center the dot on a dice? After all, machinery does it automatically. Don’t they have some kind of quality control measures in place?
Just look at this church. Almost nothing on the exterior lines up. For some people, it’d be hard to sit through a sermon because the only thing on their mind would be the inconsistencies on the outside.
If an airline is going to sell a seat with a window, don’t you think it should have a, well, window? This boy was taking his first flight and all he wanted was a window seat…he might be smiling on the outside but inside, he’s crying.
For a lot of people, this would be enough for them to do business with a different bakery. After all, the beautiful rosettes are supposed to be the highlight of the entire cake.
51. When did things change?
We always thought green was for “go” or “on” while red meant “stop” or “off.” It seems someone changed the rules and forgot to tell the world.
Especially for households with teenagers, this is relatively common. Even so, that doesn’t make it okay. For people who like to do things the right way, this will send them over the edge.
Some people have no respect for others. All they think about is themselves. Case in point, this pumpkin pie. Sadly, they ruined it for everyone else who wanted some.
54. When it’s not your day
If you’re one of those individuals who appreciates order, something like this can quickly turn a good day into a bad one. Try to remain calm.
For the people who live in this house, every day is like being on a game show. You know, is it behind door number one, two, or three? Do they really need this number of switches? Surely, no one requires that much lighting.
56. Do we even want to know why?
Anyone who’s a stickler for keeping to a schedule will find this super annoying. Who plans things based on odd minutes that change every day? This is so bizarre.
Whoever uses this bathroom stall has two options. They can either sit on the toilet that’s six feet away and use their toes to keep the door shut or shout “occupied” every time they hear the door open. It’s a lose-lose situation.
58. They were only off by “this much”
This blows symmetry right out of the water. The only thing we know to say about this is, “What the heck?” Maybe someone came to work still feeling the effects of the night before.
Why do some people think it’s okay to grab just any material they find lying in the back alley to fix floors? That’s what this looks like. Take some pride in your work, man.
There’s a good possibility that the person who printed these covers was also responsible for the series of books mentioned earlier. If not, the entire printing industry needs an overhaul.
