We have to play the hand we’re dealt in life sometimes when it comes to illness, injury, or other ways of being differently-abled.

And it’s not easy – the world is built for the able-bodied, who often don’t appreciate just how hard it is.

But despite any struggles they may face, the 60 people ahead do it with a great (and sometimes wickedly sarcastic) sense of humor. In fact, studies show that facing less-than-ideal situations with optimism can improve a person’s quality of life.

Disabled people, specifically, rate their satisfaction with life the same as – or higher than – able-bodied people.

With a sense of humor like these folks have, we can see why they wake up with a smile.
