Ok, so there’s the face she’s making – that’s just unfortunate and our parents would have marched us right back to the photographer for a redo.

But let’s not overlook the ensemble – particularly the homemade kitten and puppy vest. It doesn’t even match the turtleneck.

Then again, you might have been too distracted by the massive hair bow to notice.

This teen brought a different look to every year of high school.

And while it looks like he went straightforward heartthrob for two years, that can get tiring.

So we’re glad to see he ended on a hardcore note.

We love it. Even the OP isn’t sure what look she was going for here. But we’re pretty caught up on the fact that she was allowed to wear makeup for a school photo!

Jealous!

Then again, the eyeshadow *might* be part of the problem here.

We mean geeks in an affectionate way. After all, it takes some healthy self-esteem to wear that color green AND find a hat to match.

At least he found a friend who was willing to join in with the hat swagger.

Wow, that’s a LOT of black box hair dye!

But we love this couple for going goth and giving their kiddo his own sense of style.

Let him decide for himself what color his hair should be when he’s old enough.

There’s so much going on here, all of it spectacular.

But our two main questions are: “What’s with the “smiley” face?” and “Is that a perm?!”

Pretty epic.

Are you a woman the ages of 40 and 45? Then you undoubtedly have a photo just like this at home.

Dance class was pretty much a thing for everyone – and no one was judging our baby fat sticking around for a few extra years.

Spandex and sequins were de rigueur and side ponytails were an art form.

Those were the days!

We love everything about this photo, but mostly the fact that she’s proud to share it.

That’s not a hairstyle we saw very often back in the day, but look at how perfect it is!

And the juxtaposition with the formal dress is just awesome.

Prom, homecoming, winter formals…they all make for great photos of what we thought passed as style during our most awkward years.

Before social media, we really just had movies and magazines to go by for our style inspo.

We also threw around the word “pimp” as a synonym for “cool” – and some of us took it a bit too far.

Our favorite reaction to this Reddit photo?

“When you have to plow the fields at 5 but the My Chemical Romance concert is at 6.”

That sums it up perfectly.

This is rad.

The only problem we see here is thinking that a soul patch looks good.

Everything else is so dorky that it’s almost cool. Almost.

Most women would go back in time and beg their younger selves not to mess with their eyebrows.

And we just want to know how long it took this young lady to have full brows again after going at them with a razor.

Don’t get us wrong, we’ve seen worse. In fact, we’re pretty impressed that she managed to keep some shape to them!

Oh, man.

We all have our dorky sides, but this kid’s is on full, glorious display.

Then again, if the Pokemon background is an option, we’re guessing he’s not the only one with a childhood photo like this.

Growing up in the rural Midwest leaves you with two main options: blend in to be safe or go all-out to make a point.

We’re not sure what point he’s making, but we applaud the willingness to look unique and still do his chores like a good son.

Were you a young girl in the 90s? Then you probably REALLY wanted a Glamour Shot.

Looking back on these now, we’re almost glad our parents never gave in.

Every school had their Matrix wannabe, even before The Matrix came out!

This kid went at it with 100% commitment, which we can only respect.

Go full goth or go home.

Maybe we shouldn’t give kids so much leeway with their senior photos.

Then again, she’s making one heck of a commitment to the look – right down to the hairy Hobbit feet!

We love that she has no regrets – and that her parents let her go for it with just a minor warning.

If you don’t think the damage to the ozone layer was caused by humans, then you never used a can of hairspray a week to get maximum volume.

We’d love to know what these epic 90s parents look like now!

Once you realize it’s a lollypop and not a cigarette hanging out of her mouth you have to marvel at the child’s ability to look 30 years older than she really is.

Normally we’d say the teddy bear sweatshirt would have given it away, but there were a lot of questionable sweatshirts in the 80s – and even more questionable hairstyles.

Today, teens look old beyond their years in a completely different way.

We’re pretty sure this kid could have bought booze without an ID at the time this was taken!

Anyone at our high school trying to pull off this look at Homecoming would have been sent home immediately. But we’re glad this school had more lax rules, otherwise we would have never seen this formalwear masterpiece.

It’s amazing what can happen when you let kids dress up.

This is what happens when you get your ideas about formalwear from a combination of magic shows and viewings of Willy Wonka.

But we applaud the effort and the confidence it takes to pull this off with such gusto!

The swing set is the perfect backdrop for this sartorial effort. It adds the perfect amount of absurdity.

Now, when gangsters hang out in the park, it’s a whole different aesthetic.

We were all supposed to look so glamorous in our dance class photos.

It was always so fun to wear a costume and get your makeup done. But for some reason, when we look back on those photos later, they’re usually really embarrassing.

Don’t you love remembering your questionable taste in music decades later? Or how much you loved your toys?

This girl was probably thrilled to have these things back in the day.

Today, maybe not so much.

No one ever had good bangs as a kid.

We can’t help but applaud this girl for realizing they weren’t doing her any favors at the moment.

The problem is the way she tried to go about getting rid of them.

It’s easier to handle what a nerd you looked like when you’re in group photos where other people look the same.

Then you know it wasn’t just you with the problem.

You’ve really gotta blame the parents for this one.

Kids today will never know how stressful it was to only get one chance to have your photo taken at school.

Eyes closed? Too bad. Ridiculous look on your face? Deal with it.

A good school photo was more about luck than anything else.

We love this.

Remember the laser background? We had to BEG our mom to let us have it.

It seemed so futuristic back in the day.

In this case, it’s really a tie between the background and the mullet for “most embarrassing part of the photo.”

Well, the prop sure wouldn’t fly today in a family photo, but we appreciate the parents’ willingness to let their kid choose the aesthetic for the occasion.

We just wonder if they had some others taken too. Is this all they have to remember the year by?
