Thrift stores and tag sales can be filled with junk. But they can also be filled with amazing treasures. Treasures that can be quite valuable.
And if it isn’t valuable it could just be something that perfectly suits your personality. Or something that makes you smile.
Secondhand items not only save us money, but they help keep stuff out of landfills. Sometimes secondhand items make the best items. Thrift shops and tag sales items can get pretty wild which makes it fun to just walk around and see what they got.

This person paid only $1.99 for a copy of “The Shining.” But the bang for their buck was on the inside. It was signed by Stephen King and included an old school photo of him from when the book was signed.
The person who found this find lost their 20-year-old cat a few months prior. They had been seriously heartbroken. Then they found this photo at a Salvation Army. The photo now brings great comfort to them with the addition of their deceased kitty’s photo.
Amanda picked this out and put it in her $10 fill-a-cart pile because it said James Bond on it. The next day she noticed that it opened up. Inside there was a lock picking set.
Someone in this thrift shop replaced every picture frame with a photo of Jeff Goldblum. This person is my hero. These are the kind of weirdos that make life fun. I would probably buy one of these frames and just keep the Jeff Goldblum photo because it’s hilarious and someone went through the effort to make people smile.
Someone who works at a charity shop put Jeff Goldblum in every single photo frame 😂 pic.twitter.com/ey67khUNiG
Looks like the people who made this bear had a little mix up. His face ended up on his belly instead of his head. A 9-year-old girl found this at a Goodwill and wanted to take him home because she likes weird things and didn’t want him to be lonely since she didn’t think anyone else would buy him. Cool kid!
Why have a boring mailbox when you can have a manatee mailbox? This is a great thrift store find! They had to spruce it up a little and gave it a quick makeover with some paint.
These two found matching dresses at a local thrift shop. It was a lucky find. These two were visiting the Stanley Hotel and got to pose as the twins from The Shining.
This has to be the weirdest salt and pepper shaker that I’ve ever seen. It’s a giraffe eating a tourtist’s toupee. Not sure how sanitary it is to have that hair there though.
A 6-year-old saw this at the flea market and fell in love. She spent her allowance on it so she could hang it in her bedroom. It’s a hand painted goat on canvas.
17) The Hilarious Tag Sale
I would be obsessed with tag sales if all tags sales were like this. These signs are hilarious. I would definitely be taking those glasses homes and sharing the store behind them every time I used them.
At first glance, this just looks like a regular scene painting you’d find in any thrift store. But take a closer look. Someone painted a dinosaur into it.
This is what happens when you let a child of the 90s go thrift shopping undersupervised. Honestly, these are incredible finds. That t-shirt is a classic.
What an incredible treasure. The person who made this is a true artistic genius. And the person who bought this is going to cherish it forever. They found it at a garage sale as a child and now have it in their first apartment.
Someone thought it would be a great idea to make a sweater with an elephant using the sleeve as the elephant’s trunk. They were correct. And this girl absolutley had to get it when she saw it at the thrift shop.
This wrench looks just like a real heavy weight wrench. But it’s not. It’s plastic that is painted real well. The person who bought it is going to throw it at people.
Every year, this family has incredible thrift store finds. That’s because they turn their incredible finds into an awesome family photo. They do this instead of buying each other Christmas presents.
This is a stuffed rainbow trout. One that is 4-ft tall. A 4-year-old saw it and just had to have it.
45) 5,000 Coats
This is actually pretty cool looking. For three bucks someone got a block of wood that was painted with 5,000 coats of paint over 14 years. It is the work of Pete.
