1. The same age, two different people

This woman’s mom looked like the spitting image of her back when she was her daughter’s age. The black and white image effect makes the resemblance even more uncanny. From the shape and placement of their eyes to their hair, their lips and their noses, these women really are identical. If she had her mom’s pose and hairdo, they’d be even more like clones.

2. Same styles

This girl doesn’t only look like her mom aged 25, they have the same style sense too! We imagine mom’s glasses were a lot heavier back then, but this is a great example of how certain trends, like large lenses, come back in fashion after several decades. Both women have the same noses and big smiles, too.

It helps here that this guy’s dad has such characteristic features – the slightly sticky-outy ears and the big, friendly smile. His son has grown into exactly the same features, and when they both tilt their head the same way, there’s a definite resemblance. Even their eyebrows are the same!

It’s always interesting when tooth size, of all things, is passed down generations. This man’s grandfather had exactly the same teeth as him, giving them identical smiles. Though there’s a whole generation between them, they’re still obviously related, and we think they’d pass as brothers.

If we were the cynical sort, we’d question whether this was actually the same image of the same child, with one edited to look old-school. But the garish wallpaper in the background of young mom’s pic is an indication that it wasn’t taken any time recently. Honestly, though, there is virtually nothing different about young mom and her daughter at the same age. Perhaps young mom’s lips are slightly bigger?

It doesn’t come without its challenges, but we all still made sure plenty of photos were taken that we could look back at over the years. This woman’s mom had a photo of herself and her first-born son 41 years ago – then she had a daughter, who grew up to take a very similar photo with her own son. They almost look like the same person!

In the case of this mom and her toddler, both of them know what it’s like to deal with a bad hair day. Because their hair is cut into the same style, they both have a definite mullet thing going on. Nearly everyone has one stashed away in their favorite photo album, which makes copying the photo a few decades down the line fairly easy. The son on the first photo inevitably grew up to become a dad himself, then went onto have a son. He snapped an identical pic, and he looks so similar to his dad! Even the newborn sons look the same.

We don’t think we’ll ever get bored of a “dad and baby” photo, which is good, because there are loads of them we can use here. This man copied the photo of his dad, aged 29, with his son at 2 weeks old. Eerily, the son himself had a son aged 29, and was able to take a photo of his little one aged 2 weeks, too. We appreciate that he went the extra mile and donned a Mickey t-shirt for the occasion.

23. Shared cuteness levels

Not all children are cute (come on, it’s true). Some are adorable in their own special way, or simply cute in the eyes of their parents. But this little boy and his dad (also as a little boy) are an example of a universal cuteness that can be agreed on by all. It’s the big, round eyes that do it for us. We’d love to see how they both look as grown-ups!

A person’s smile is one of the most recognizable features of their face. In this case, it’s what makes this young dad and his son so obviously related. It looks like they’re both similar ages on these photos, and both have identical grins. They even have the same style of facial hair. We bet they argue about who looks cooler.

Did you even go to Stonehenge if you didn’t take the obligatory photo in front of the crumbling rock structure? This girl’s mom did – so she decided to follow in her footsteps at the same age and snap an identical pic. What’s even better about this photo is that Stonehenge itself hasn’t changed, either.

Look, not everyone is cut out to be a parent to an actual human. It’s a hard job, and some of us don’t even feel capable of looking after ourselves. So while this guy’s dad might have had a photo of himself and his son, the son in question could only recreate the photo with his cat. Genes sometimes work in totally unique ways, and family members can end up looking alike even when they’re not immediate family. This girl’s mom looks just like her niece – even the little hair quiff is the same! We’d love to know what the neice’s mom looks like, too.

It looks as if this mom’s son essentially got every single one of her genes, apart from the one that dictated hair color. At teenage age, both of them have the same blue eyes, the same shaped noses, and the same super sweet grins. The only true difference between the two photos is that on the left, mom is wearing a long-collared shirt and funky tie combo that her son would probably never dream of wearing today.

This lucky man was able to recreate a photo of his great-grandfather, grandfather, father and himself – this time with his grandfather, father, himself and his son. What a truly special photo! We can even see the resemblance between the great-grandfather on the first picture and the grandfather on the second picture. Dad and his son look pretty similar, too.

The special thing about this photo is that mom and daughter, both at the same age in their photos, are wearing the exact same kimono. It must be a true blessing to be able to pass your culture on to your children, especially when they grow up to be the spitting image of you! Astonishingly, the boy on these school photos is actually two boys – dad in 5th grade, and son in 5th grade. It’s their ears that make them so obviously related, but we love that they even have the same bowl-cut hairstyle! Something tells us neither dad nor son kept that haircut for long…

This person followed in the same footsteps of his dad, becoming a member of the military and donning a near-identical uniform to his idol. He’d planned his photo for a while, hoping that he’d one day have a son to recreate his dad’s old image with. His wishes came true, and the resulting photos side-by-side are nothing short of adorable.

This might be one of the closest resemblances of them all: mom, on the left, aged 30, and her daughter, on the right, also aged 30. Mom has more freckles than her daughter, but they have exactly the same face shape. With their hair in similar styles, they could be sisters. You’d never guess these pictures were taken years apart.

We hope that this man’s son only used his cigarette as a prop in his staged photo recreation! He nailed everything else, from the stripy shirt to his happy, open-mouthed smile.

Bearded fathers and sons are destined to look the same! But this man and his young dad don’t only share the same facial hair. Both of them have the same shaped teeth, of all things. Though dad’s nose seems longer, both have the same slightly squinty eyes. We’d struggle to know who was who if they were the same age at the same time.

46. Same shirt, same guitar, 30 years apart

We love it when moms and dads save some of their most prized possessions and pass them down to their kids. The dad pictured on the left was a fan of leopard print shirts and electric guitars aged 21. He passed them down to his son, who gave the guitar a paint job and posed for a near-identical photo aged 22. Now they look like a fun father-son duo!

47. Same age, same shirt

Dad’s shirt on the left is certainly a statement piece, and amazingly, he actually kept hold of it until his son was old enough to do an identical photoshoot wearing it himself. Shirt aside, it’s bizarre how similar these two look. Young dad has all of his son’s features, just slightly more exaggerated – a broader nose, bigger lips, and slightly larger ears.

48. Dad and son, aged 60

There aren’t many photo comparisons on here of older people, and that’s what makes this photo so special. In the left photo, a proud dad celebrates his 60th birthday. On the right, his son does exactly the same thing. We love the effort that’s gone into recreating this photo – not only do both men look the same, but they’re posing with the same selection of gifts!

49. Father and daughter

Here’s another example of an identical dad and daughter at a similar age. The fact that both kids are pulling the same expression makes their appearances even more uncanny. They have exactly the same eyes and mouth shape. They also both look oddly like Paul McCartney.

50. Same dress, 25 years apart

This mom saved her beautiful flamenco dress that she wore as a young woman. When the time came, she passed it down to her daughter, who’s the spitting image of her, but with darker hair. Even the necklace and their hairstyles are the same! In our humble opinion, the daughter rocks the dress slightly better than her mom.

You might believe that in the grand scheme of things, babies all look the same anyway. They’re all bald, with round heads, soft skin and tiny features, right? True – but that doesn’t mean that some babies can’t look more identical than others. This baby dad has the same massive eyes as his baby son. They also have the same nose and lips, but it’s their slightly perplexed identical expressions that we can’t get over.

This girl’s mom, pictured on the left, died of cancer, and her photos are highly treasured by her daughter. She’s acquired the same love for fur as her mom, though perhaps not quite as excessive! Both are beautiful, and obviously related – they have the same eyes and nose.

As a young girl, this mom had exactly the same sweet expression and butter-wouldn’t-melt eyes as her young daughter. Their noses and their smiles are the same, too, and for extra effect, mom even cut her daughter a fringe so they look even more similar. It must be pretty special to get to know a mini-me version of yourself.

If you’re pretty, it’s essentially a given that you’ll give birth to a daughter who ends up just as pretty as you. This girl and her mom (on the left) have exactly the same beautiful smiles. Even their hair is the same length. They obviously shared the same style sense, too.

55. Dad and son, artistic headshots

We sincerely believe that these artistic black-and-white headshots could be of all the same person. The fact that the man on the left is actually the man on the right’s dad is pretty incredible. It’s not only their poses that are identical – they have the same facial hair, heavy-lidded eyes, nose… the same everything. As it turns out, the left photos were taken in 1976, and the right in 2012.

56. Mom and daughter, or twin sisters?

The photo on the left is actually the mom of her daughter, aged 13, who’s in the photo on the right. Mom didn’t even need to post a photo from her teenagehood for the resemblance to be obvious – they both look as young as one another! We’re slightly jealous of her young genes – and we’d be intrigued to know who actually ages fastest between the two.

This person did a particularly interesting experiment to see just how similar he looked to his dad at the same age – he split a photo of the two of them and placed his dad on one side, him on the other. While his dad has a slightly different hairstyle, there’s really no difference between their facial features. Their noses, lips, eyes and even eyebrows are near-identical. Though dad does have more facial hair than his son.

We imagine that when this mom’s son grew up, she was slightly disturbed by just how similar he looks to his dad at his age. Let’s be honest here: both of these men are the dictionary definition of “tall, dark and handsome”. It’s a timeless look that has blessedly been carried down from generation to generation.
