Just because people pass away and they are no longer with us, it doesnโt mean that their sense of humor canโt live on forever. Our loved ones can leave us with wonderful memories and times of laughter. They can also leave us with hilarious tombstones.
These hilarious epitaphs on tombstones and headstones show that silliness and humor can live forever.
Throw any political correctness out the window when reading these!

1) Oops! Sorry, Janet!
Although Janet M. has left the planet โ her sense of humor is still alive and kicking. Just be careful when you go to visit her and pay your respects โ youโll want to watch where youโre standing or you could be causing her a bit of discomfort.

2) Thatโs a deep love right there.
If youโve ever lived in a household with multiple siblings (sisters, at that!), then you know that bathroom vacancy (or the lack thereof) can cause serious drama. We applaud this parent for having the patience and sanity to deal with that. Plus, we commend them for letting the world know about the hardships theyโve endured.

3) No one wanted to listen and then look what happened.
This anonymous person is playing a bit of a passive-aggressive role once they crossed to the other side. We might not know who this person was but weโre fairly certain it was someone who liked to say โI told you soโ quite often. Regardless, we appreciate the humor.

4) Just laying there for all eternity.
Well, theyโre not entirely sure what happens to their soul at this point, but what they do know is that theyโre looking pretty darn great in that box six-feet-below. At least they died knowing that they were dressed to the nines for whatever may come their way.

5) Death meets art deco.
Once your dead, I suppose itโs important to have a little fun and embrace your โdeadnessโ. This person wanted to have their headstone be quite the statement piece of the cemetery. I wonder what it was like to design this contemporary piece with the artist โ now thatโs an interesting conversation.

6) The voice of many Looney Tunes characters. RIP.
Okay, so this isnโt a funny tombstone but it belongs to one of the funniest men in entertainment. Mel Blanc was the voice of iconic characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Speedy Gonzalez, and Foghorn Leghorn just to name a few. His incredible talent will live on forever but he will be sorely missed.

7) It sure does.
Edith isnโt here to sugarcoat anything for you and she likes to tell it like it is โ even if itโs from the heavens above. Weโre certain that Edithโs 50 short years on this planet were full of wisecracks, jokes, and a lot of laughing. Her friends and family must miss her dearly.

8) Subtle move, John. Well played.
Weโve got another wise guy on our hands with this tombstone. The passive aggressive game with this one is strong โ but subtle. However, instead of the deceased being the one giving the jab โ it appears to be his friends! It sounds like John was loved, but they also want him to know heโs kind of a jerk for leaving too soon.

9) Itโs pitch black when youโre six feet under.
Hereโs another realist that some might have called Captain Obvious while he or she was alive. Some people want sentimental and emotional things written or etched on their tombstones โ others want to keep things a bit more lighthearted. Instead of crying, I suppose itโs better to laugh?

10) Getting a little kinky back in the 1800s.
We donโt know if this was intentional or not but weโd sure like to believe that it was. With a last name like Spanks, itโs hard not to have a little fun with it. And why not continue that fun with your wife even in the afterlife? I hope Arthur and Katherine know how many people theyโve made chuckle over the years.

11) Someone shoulda listened
The next time your significant other, family member, or friend is complaining about something ailing them โ you might want to listen. The woman is proof. Did her friends and family just think she was making it up? Sounds like her poor feet truly became the death of her.

12) Sharing her delicious cookies from beyond the grave.
If this isnโt the sweetest tombstone youโve ever come across then I donโt know what would be. Whoever this mom was, it sounds like she must have made some of the best cookies on the planet. Thankfully, her family was kind enough to share it with anyone who passes by. She was probably a very sweet and caring lady.

13) Yeah, itโs not the best.
Although it sucks to be them right now, because, you know, youโre alive and reading this โ if thereโs one thing we all have in common, itโs our mortality here on earth. So, hopefully this person can cheer up while on the other side knowing that weโll all be joining them sooner or later.

14) Alrighty then. Sounds like Herman got screwed.
Woah. Sounds like Herman was a pretty jaded man before he passed โ but can you blame the poor guy? He wanted to make sure that the entire world, for the rest of eternity, knew what a terrible person his wife was. I mean, Eleanor โ did you have to be so cruel to the guy? In case she does make her way to heaven โ I hope their paths donโt cross.

15) This was fate right here.
Have you ever seen a more serendipitous juxtaposition in your life? We think youโd be hard pressed to see a coincidence as funny as this one. These two families definitely didnโt know each other whilst alive but now theyโre resting side by side in total harmony.

16) Every family has their own weird language.
This manโs name is unknown but itโs obvious that he was an adoring and funny father and grandfather. If thereโs anything anyone should ever leave behind on this planet, itโs a bunch of positive and wonderful memories for the family they left behind. Weโre sure that all of his skidaderones and skiddley jiddleys have many of them.

17) โMy great grandfatherโs headstone. I have never met him, but I wish I had.โ
If you donโt have something smart or interesting to say, Joseph Stock doesnโt want to hear it. His grandson posted this photo of the tombstone and wishes he had met the man while he was still alive. His grandson can be certain that he was a tough man with a great, cynical sense of humor.

18) For some reason, this seems okay given the time period.
If youโre not familiar, Robert Clay Allison was a cattle rancher, cattle broker, and gunfighter in the old American Wild West. He had a reputation of violence and became quite infamous when he rode his horse through town while completely nude โ wearing only his gunbelt. He even shot himself in the foot at one point in time.

19) Forever a part of the Labor Union.
If you or anyone you know is part of the Labor Union, then you know how loyal and proud they are of that fact. This couple is taking their political beliefs to the grave โ literally. Whichever Labor union they belonged to, they must feel very honored about their undying loyalty.

20) It was that one last bad mistake.
Sounds like this person was a real risk-taker and we respect that. After all, are you really living unless youโre doing things that scare you or make you uncomfortable? Of course, thereโs always the risk of something going horribly wrong and you could end up deadโฆ

21) Is this the only way out of debt?
Oh, credit cards. You gotta love โem and you gotta hate โem. If not used responsibly, you could be paying those babies off until the day you dieโฆlike this departed couple. Hopefully the two of them purchased some fun vacations and made some good memories with all that debt

22) Thank you for the morbid reminder.
We mentioned it earlier and weโll say it again โ itโs inevitable. It might be a bit scary to think about, but yes, weโll all move on from this planet at some point. At least this person, with quite the punny nickname, has a sense of humor about the entire thing. Letโs be more like them.

23) So not as cool as a pyramid.
This person has a very large ego or some seriously high hopes. One thingโs for sure, they didnโt get the pyramid they had hoped for. One thing that is happening, however, is their lasting sense of humor and thatโs even better than a pyramid.

24) Finally! And itโs all yours!
Living in a touristy, congested area with heaps of people coming in and out โ parking can be the bane of oneโs existence. Clearly, Georgetown must be one of those towns and the Ivisonโs can finally rest in peace knowing that they never have to search for another parking spot again. Iโm sure many in the area are quite envious.

25) Samuel wasnโt someone to mess with.
Okay, Samuel seems that he was a total badass when he was alive. I mean, seriously โ could you imagine the life stories that this guy had to tell? Anyone who walks by and reads this tombstone has to have some serious respect for a guy like Samuel. Talk about a patriotic American.

26) Right? Whereโs our say in this?
Now this is a thought-provoking tombstone right here. And you have to admit, theyโre not wrong. Life is a funny, beautiful, and miraculous thing, isnโt it? One day weโre born into this work and a short lifetime later, we leave it. Many ask whatโs the point or what does it all mean? I suppose thatโs up to you.

27) I have a feeling he used this joke a time or two throughout life.
If John ever had an injured foot or was too tired from a long day, we can just imagine that heโd use this dad joke to his own delight and amusement. We have to hand it to him though, itโs a top-quality dad joke that is good for a painful chuckle or two.

28) And thatโs all that really matters.
It sounds like Walter may have had a few vices in his day but it sounds like he lived life the way he wanted to live it โ and you canโt argue with that. Itโs unsure what got him in the end but Walterโs loved ones wanted it to be known that he was a man that died happy. And we respect that.

29) Putting smiles on peopleโs faces for years to come.
Because all of us have that inner child still in us, itโs impossible not to oblige by this tombstoneโs request. This funny person went their whole lives with a name that was certainly the โbutt of jokesโ all the time, but it looks like they embraced their Butt namesake and are going to make people smile for a very long time.

30) You should have let it go to voicemail, Kim.
Iโm not sure whatโs funnier about this tombstone โ the saying or the hilariously adorable photo of Kim literally picking up and holding a telephone as if sheโs answering Jesusโ actual phone call. Itโs too hard to decide so weโll just say this tombstoneโs humor is top notch. Well done, Kim.

31) Theyโre just rubbing it in our faces.
What really happens when we die?! We are all dying to know (quite literally!)! This person know holds the answer to the most mysterious question to ever exist and nowโฆtheyโre going to taunt us about it. So, I guess weโll just have to wait and find out for ourselves.

32) More food recipes please!
Hereโs another woman who blessed the world with her yummy treats โ this time, itโs fudge! We imagine Kay was the type of person to light up a room the moment she walked in โ with a plate of homemade fudge, of course. Now everyone can remember Kay fondly while theyโre whipping up a batch of chocolatey goodness.

33) A long, eternal sleep.
Joan Hackett was a famous actress who starred in roles such as Catherine Allen in Western Will Penny and Christine Mannon in Mourning Becomes Electra. Sadly, she passed away in 1983 from cancer but her funny personality will always be remembered when you look at her epitaph in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

34) Crazy cat lady til the very end.
Thereโs typically a negative stereotype about the woman who lives by herself and owns a lot of cats. But Susan? She could care less about that negativity because sheโs owning her destiny and not afraid to tell the world about her love of cats and that cat-lady lifestyle. Way to go, Susan. Way to go.

35) It really isnโt the most ideal scenario.
Sorry, Mitchell โ it is what it is. And even though you had to go โ at least you have a beautiful and funny tombstone to let your memory live on forever. So, yes, although your current situation clearly sucks โ youโre still making people laugh from the afterlife and thatโs pretty darn cool.

36) No, really. Like right on him.
The Jackson family likes to make others feel welcome and comfortable โ they really go out of their way to do so. In fact, they want you to be so darned pleased and happy that theyโre willing to let you take a load off right on top of them. They seem like a sweet and selfless family that just keeps on giving even when theyโve gone.

37) Weโll take his word for it.
Weโd like to think that if anyone is making moonshine, then they better have some pride in it and it sounds like Garner was the person for the job. He did it and he did it well. Hopefully they passed down their moonshine recipe to the next of kin so that they can have his legacy live on. Cheers to that!

38) So many things happening here.
Itโs hard to wrap your head around this one when you look at it. So, letโs get this straight โ Gabe is a talented gymnast and also a hardcore AC/DC fan who has an incredible sense of humor? That seems to be what Iโm gathering here with this one. Well, Gabe, rock on. We salute you too.

39) Well, thatโs good at least.
You know, any time you embark on a new chapter, itโs a bit uncomfortable and takes some time to get used to. I suppose the same would go for death! Itโs nice to know that MurpMurphyhere to let us know that it really isnโt all that bad, you know, once you get used to it. So, thereโs at least a silver lining to that dark cloud.

40) Some serious sibling rivalry going on here.
Cecil wanted to make sure that she had the last (and forever lasting) word when it came to her brother. Weโre going to go ahead and assume that she was probably one of the many people that her brother โpissed offโ over the years. Well, at least Cecil can rest in peace and not have to deal with his annoyances anymore.

41) Wow.
Okay, so this one isnโt exactly funny but it is quite eye-opening. Itโs incredible how out-of-line the human raceโs priorities are. How can killing receive a medal but love receive a discharge? We need to re-think some things.

42) Young but wise.
Micah was only 16-years-old when he passed away but he seems like he was wise, funny, and quite clever for his age. Weโre sure that he probably made a lot of people laugh during his short time on this planet.

43) Thereโs no coming back.
This person (or their family) makes people chuckle when they walk by their gravestone, weโre sure of it. And they took the message on their gravestone very literally, because as we all know, once youโre 6-feet-under โ youโre not coming back up.

44) Very non-chalant.
Lola seems like the type of gal you probably didnโt want to mess with. She had a โtell it like it isโ attitude, weโre sure of it. As for death? She doesnโt seem to mind much. In fact, it sounds like she was pretty underwhelmed by it all.

45) He had that nagging feeling.
George Jr. lived a long life that we hope was a happy one filled with love. But during that entire time โ he knew it was lurking around the corner at any moment. That sinking feeling in your gut when you know something not-great was about to happen. Well โ turns out he was right.

46) Sviatoslov will be back.
Judging by their tombstones, it looks like both of these people lived a very interesting life moving them to a lot of places. But the plaques below their tombstones reveal that Margarita is probably resting in peace while Sviatoslov is underwhelmed and figuring out a way to get back.

47) Wait a minuteโฆreally?

48) The business really should have clarified.
โDad wanted to update my grandparentsโ tombstone to include my uncle who died this year. He sent sample text to show the font he wanted for the names,โ said the Reddit user who uploaded this photo. I mean, did the people engraving the stone really think this is what they wanted for all eternity?

49) Yikes. Hopefully not too soon.
Weโre often reminded, while sitting in the waiting room of a doctorโs office, that โthe doctor will see you soonโ. Well, this doctor thought it would be funny to remind us all that yesโฆsomeday, weโll be seeing her soon, even though sheโs been gone for 24 years.

50) Itโs not that bad.
Paul seems like he was a funny guy mixed with a bit of realism, cynicism, and pessimism all rolled into one. Heโs taken a bit of a passive-aggressive approach too, telling everyone how life sucks in the shape of a smiley face. And the fact that he wanted this on his tombstone? Savage.

51) Living fail.
Okay, so โFailโ was probably their familieโs surname but we canโt help but chuckle. Nowadays, when weโre not good at something we call it a โFailโ and this family didnโt perform very well when it came to immortal life. At that โ they failed.

52) Alka-Seltzer or something else?
Was this person a big Alka-Seltzer fan or was this just a saying they liked to say? Either way โ they seemed to love it enough to put on their tombstone for the rest of everyoneโs life that gets to see it! Read into it however you wish.

53) Wrong side!
When youโre coming to pay your respects for Hoppleโs, their tombstone could be hard to miss if youโre on the wrong side โ so, they decided to help out! If you happen to be wandering around the cemetery looking for them, youโll know youโve found it when you see the back.

54) Hmmโฆ
Joelโs headstone has left a cryptic message that has us all wondering what he meant. Was he rich? Was he an organ donor? Was he just a really mean guy that no one liked? We could use a little context, but since thatโs not happening, we can only let our minds wander.

55) Yeah, itโs a bit better on this end.
Esther seems like she was always up for a good laugh. And we have to hand it to her for her simple, yet quite funny, headstone. I think we can all say that being on this side of the gravestone is far more appealing than the alternative.
