Let’s face it, not all of us were meant to be mathematicians. And some of us, well, some of us weren’t even meant to do basic math. Now, we live in an age where people can put almost anything they want online for the world to see. And sometimes, what gets put up there just doesn’t add up. Luckily, there are people out there who are great at catching these hilarious mathematical mistakes. Check out this list of 50 people who went to school, but slept in math class, and don’t forget to double-check your own math!
1. Yikes
This one has a lot of people on the Internet losing their minds… Is it satire? Is she serious? We want to believe it’s a joke… But in today’s world, you just never know.
2. It’s simple math, really
This person wanted to burn a guy with math… It’s too bad he can’t actually do math, though. 0 x 500 is still zero — facts!
3. So close…
…Yet so far. This person thinks that 3000 – 2020 is 80 but it’s actually 980. I don’t think anyone who’s alive right now is going to see the year 3000.
4. Back to school it is!
$1,000,000 wouldn’t be enough to fix this person’s education,” someone hilariously commented on Reddit. We don’t want to be too mean but… That is pretty dang funny.
6. I don’t think that’s the reason why you won’t be hired
Just because they have a minimum age doesn’t mean they have a maximum age. If this person doesn’t get hired, it will be because of their IQ, not their age — ha!
7. Wait so…
So this person is claiming that they are 190 years-old, correct? Because if they lived 19 decades then yeah, they’d be 190 years-old.
8. Are you sure you’re doing math?
This person said that people born in 2000 are 25 years. But that doesn’t make any sense because it’s only 2020, and this was posted a few years ago. Thankfully, this person’s response was perfect.
9. For the 0.01th time?
The math is wrong, and we’re pretty sure everything else in this tweet is false, too. Not the most trustworthy source but at least it’s… entertaining?
10. Share your limited edition quarters!
This person must be using special quarters or something, because a dollar every day for a year only equals $365, and he thought a quarter every day for a year gets you $9,125. Nope!
11. Is your calculator broken?
Okay, this one is even stranger than the previous one… Where are people getting these numbers? Is their calculator broken?
12. Worst sale ever
This sale is supposed to be 50% off but then we’re only getting around $2 off? Something isn’t adding up here (literally).
13. How does this work then
So you get 4 for $5, but it’s limited to only 3 per customer. The only way to take advantage of this sale would be to come with another person and split it up maybe… But still doesn’t really make sense. Stop contradicting yourself, store!
14. But…
But Americans are actually right! A mile is less than a kilometer. Simple math, really!
15. An expensive free meal
This meal claims to be free but… There’s nothing free about it at all. In fact, it’s quite expensive!
16. Can you even disagree with math, though?
Yeah, sure. If you sleep a couple hours less, than you can have a 27-hour day… We’re obviously being sarcastic here, by the way.
17. So only 4% people wash their hands?
We’re not sure this person is doing the right math, as they believe that almost 100% people wash their hands. Our brains hurt.
18. Tipping ain’t a city in China
Beth needs to re-do her math because… This just ain’t right. Someone please tell her.
19. What do they not get
How does 190 split up into a perfect 50/50? Easy: 190 divided by 2 is an even 95. Easy as that!
20. Ah, proportions
“The real problem is that he says they are 3/4 horse and the graph suggests that they are made out of 3/4 of a horse which I do believe are two different things,” a very smart Reddit user commented.
21. We hope they are kidding
Apparently 50 x 0 = 50 but 0 x 50 = 0? Obviously, this is just wrong. We hope they are trolling us. If so, they got us good!
22. Didn’t see that one coming!
Just ignore the comment… They’re trolling. It is a good reminder to never assume though!
23. Ooooof, we’re not sure about this one
This person knows that you need to be pregnant for 9 months before actually having a baby, right? Apparently not…
24. We can’t tell…
Is this dude trolling or just not that bright? He thinks he pulled off some major scam. We think he really just has no idea… Which is honestly hilarious.
25. Ah, TikTok
This person thinks she’s way closer to 1 billion followers than she actually is. 4 million plus 96 million is 100 million, not 1 billion… Duh.
26. A confusing pie chart
ABC did not do the correct math on this one. The total equals over 100% so yeah, definitely something wrong here.
27. Another day, another confusing graph
Maybe if they are in 3D this could work. But right now, we’re not seeing how it’s going to go down…
28. Potentially a good deal
$90 for both or $40 for each… This could be a great deal — if you buy them each separately, of course. That would make it $80 total, giving you an extra $10 off.
29. Come together
Math isn’t always easy. Sometimes you need a little help. It’s nice to see all of these people come together on the Internet to solve a very basic math problem.
30. Broken calculator
If you do this going from left to right, it should come out to 10. But if you do it backwards it actually is 15. Needless to say, we’re all confused.
31. Someone’s saving money…
But it’s not us. Originally sold for $299 but on sale for $324.99? Something’s not right here, but our brains are telling us this is the worst deal ever.
32. Worst motivational poster ever
This is actually making us cringe. Also, shouldn’t this man know how compounding interest works?
33. I mean, yeah
We’re pretty sure everyone feels this way, with or without love, because 60 minutes does indeed equal on hour. We bet this guy doesn’t know that 60 seconds is equal to one minute, either.
34. Oooof
“I don’t even like math but that’s straight up disrespect,” someone commented on Reddit. Sadly, we’re going to have to agree with that statement.
35. One gram = 15 grams
According to this guy, at least. Is someone going to tell him? Or should we let him carry on through his life believing this lie?
36. Only off by 100x…
We’re not really sure how someone can mess this up so bad. Sometimes it feels like people mess it up on purpose? It’s the only way it’d make sense!
37. But(terfinger)…
But 25 calories multiplied by 6 pieces is 150, not 140. Do we get a calorie discount if we eat more of them? We’re not complaining, we just want to understand.
38. Interesting sale
We’ll take two sets of 3 then, by the looks of this very interesting sale. We’re curious, who’s in charge of coming up with these deals? We just wanna talk.
39. We can’t even trust math teachers
This is a math question. The answer isn’t even wrong, but the question is. Quick, someone hold me back.
40. Flight from Hell
Imagine being on an airplane for 135 hours? Obviously, somewhere along the way, this math got messed up. That, or they just flew around the world nonstop for fun.
41. That is not how it works
We’re surprised this business-based media company isn’t better at doing math or pie charts. Actually quite scary!
42. Makes sense!
We’re sure these people can make it work. They’ll just need some rockets traveling at the speed of light and some time traveling capabilities. What?
43. Help
Time divided by distance gets you units of distance over time? We are so confused. Help.
44. We’re all winners
According to this guy, we should all be winning millions of dollars! This is a rare case where I actually wish he was right. The lottery would be so much better that way.
45. That can’t be right
Fox claimed that 500 million people in North Carolina were without power. The problem here is that there are only about 10.5 million total people in NC. So… we’re not sure where they pulled these numbers from.
46. 48 hours
Maybe living in that tiny house for two days affected his math skills. Apprently, he thought that he spent 3 days in there after just 48 hours. I’m not sure how that works.
47. Not exact change
This woman thought that she was getting ripped off at the restaurant. However, this wasn’t the case. The restaurant actually gave her back a bit extra.
48. Math Check
As a rule of thumb, you’re not supposed to talk about politics when you’re at dinner parties. However, if you do, be sure that you’ve done your math right first. This is especially true when you are sharing your political sentiments with the internet.
49. New Cuyama
New Cuyama decided to get technical with their town’s totals. Unfortunately, those numbers don’t mean anything when they are added up. They did add them up correctly, at least.
50. Just something to think about
I’m not sure what they were doing when they did their math, but they were off… by quite a bit. With those numbers, the death rate comes to 0.001%. Just something to think about.
