The coronavirus pandemic has forced a lot of people inside their homes. The Getty Museum in Los Angeles considered it an opportunity for people to sharpen their minds and challenge their creativity.
As a result, they issued a challenge on Twitter asking people to recreate their favorite artworks and share them online.
Tons of people responded and here are the best photos.
1. Dancing while social distancing
It looks like this will be the new normal when it comes to dating. You wear a mask and a pair of gloves to protect yourself. You practice social distancing, too.
2. Mood these days
The headpiece and crown might not look exactly the same, but this woman was able to perfectly recreate the expression on the painting. I guess it’s the same expression we have these days.
3. Improvisation
This person is an expert when it comes to improvisation. She’s got really good eyes, too. See how she was able to recreate the dog? That bottle was an excellent addition as well.
4. The present time
This is what walking in the park looks like now. You won’t see other people around, not even other dogs.
5. Involving the entire family
This must be a fun family. They are quite creative, too. The way they used toilet paper rolls as parts of the clouds was pure genius.
6. Those toilet paper rolls
This is probably one of the reasons why stores ran out of toilet paper rolls. I hope this woman didn’t throw away all her rolls after taking the photo.
7. The mighty dog
If you can’t find a horse for your recreation project, grab your dog. I bet he’ll be more than willing to play the part. After all, there’s nothing much he can do at home.
8. The charmer
The painting on the left is called The Charmer. I have to say that the man on the right was nearly as charming as the lady in the painting. I guess his beard made him more adorable.
9. Young Frida
This little lady is channeling her inner Frida in this recreation project. She’s got all the elements on point.
10. Looking regal
Those bottles of beauty products worked really well as a crown. It made her looked extra regal. That plastic sheet helped, too!
11. A double
The angle, the shadow, and even the facial expression- this woman can certainly pass as a double. If she can only grow curly hair, it would have been perfect.
12. Easy
This is probably one of the easiest pieces of art to recreate. Just grab a white bed sheet and wrap it all around your body, excluding the face and you’re good to go.
13. A lighter version
This woman didn’t just manage to recreate the painting but she was also able to make it look less creepy. Honestly, her version looks more amusing.
14. Books and laptops
Despite having different pieces, I must say that these two photos share the same message. Today’s laptops are yesterday’s books. Those gadgets are where we get the information we need these days.
15. On quarantine, wear pink.
If you haven’t tried wearing pink, this quarantine might be the perfect opportunity for you. Who knows, you might be able to pull off something like this.
16. Essentials
You don’t need to have the exact elements just to recreate a masterpiece. Sometimes, you just need to focus on the message. This one nailed it.
17. A cat for a monkey
The cat really did its part. It deserves a treat after that photoshoot.
18. Effortless
This piece of art doesn’t require a lot of effort to recreate. It’s the perfect choice if you’re feeling lazy but you still want to participate in the challenge.
19. Dates on quarantine
You don’t get to go out during a quarantine. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t go on a date and take beautiful pictures. You can do all of those things even if you’re at home, just like this couple.
20. Today’s reality
Today’s normal involve face masks and gloves. This photo did an excellent job highlighting that.
21. A perfect copy
This couple’s eye for details is amazing. They nailed every element of the painting- from the drinks to the woman’s face!
22. Christmas came early
This is intense commitment to art. Even the cat was resigned to its fate.
23. Contemplating
This man perfectly captured the emotion in the painting. It’s the same emotion we have on what’s happening these days.
24. A for effort
When you’re trying to recreate a famous painting, you have to do your best. Take it from this man and his attempt on recreating a famous Yannis Tsarouchis painting.
25. For the shy ones
If you’re feeling shy but you still want to show off your creativity, pick a piece of artwork that doesn’t involve humans. Take this artwork as an example.
26. A good time
I bet this woman had a great time taking this photo. Why? Well, she got to drink that glass of wine after.
27. Very creative
This woman is a genius in her own way. She was able to recreate The Starry Night without any paint involved.
28. Committed to art
This woman was so committed to take Ophelia to the next level. She even found a dress that looks close to the original.
29. That hat
It’s amusing how most of the recreated art pieces in this collection involve tissue paper rolls. For this one, they used a roll to make the hat.
30. Creativity level: Expert
This one is seriously amusing. From the nails to that blue scrunchie, the woman is clearly an expert in recreating artworks.
31. Rocking the boat
I’m pretty sure this family didn’t have a rough journey on that boat. They are floating on a sea of toilet paper.
32. Mood
This man didn’t have to put a lot of effort into recreating the emotion. It’s literally how we all feel about this quarantine.
33. It is what you think it is.
It’s understandable why this woman chose to use a pail. It’s hard to get that same hat with or without a quarantine in place.
34. Holding on
I guess this just shows what’s important to that woman. In this time of crisis, you should hold onto what matters most to you, right?
35. When you don’t smoke
If you’re a non-smoker and you need to imitate someone who smokes, you need to find a healthier and safer alternative to cigarettes. Apparently, bananas work.
36. Mummified
Being tied to a table with toilet paper can make you feel vulnerable. This man must have a lot of faith on his partner.
37. When you can’t go out
What do you do when you want to go out but you’re not allowed to? You recreate the outdoors inside your home.
38. That headpiece
Who would have thought that bath towels can work well in recreating artworks? The recreated version looks as good as the original piece in this comparison.
39. Blurred vs clear
These two images look like two versions of a single photo. The left one is blurry while the other image has sharp details.
40. Ladies of different times
The similarities between the original and the recreated piece are amusing. The women even have the same facial expression.
41. Instant beard
What do you do when you can’t grow a beard overnight for a photoshoot? The solution is simple. You glue some cotton balls all over your jaw.
42. Almost the same
Even without hair, this man still nailed his recreated art. I guess it’s the mustache and those lines on his forehead.
43. New vs old
I guess you won’t have a hard time figuring out which photo is new. The fresh leaves clearly give it away.
44. Prioritize safety
Observe social distancing when in public. Don’t forget to disinfect your hands, too.
45. A different take
This man didn’t just recreate the actual piece of art but he’s also able to show how different their times are. It’s hard not to feel amused by the twist.
46. On point
Humans aren’t the only ones who can join this trend. Dogs are very much capable of recreating artworks, too.
47. Twinning
This mother and her daughter didn’t look like they had a hard time recreating the painting. It’s just like an ordinary picture day for them.
48. Mother and dog
I can’t blame this woman for choosing to have her dog in that photo. Dogs, for most animal lovers, are family.
49. A banana
Being isolated for a long time can make anyone go bananas. Nonetheless, it’s still a great photo.
50. So much time
This is probably one of the hardest recreated projects on this list. Before you can actually make the art, you need to untangle your cords first. That already takes a lot of time.
Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
