Beware of dog signs are a pretty great invention. Whenever we see one, we often imagine that there is a huge ferocious beast on the other side of the fence, and really, for this reason, they are a pretty reliable way of keeping trespassers out. These pictures show, however, that there is not always a direct correlation between someone putting up a beware of dog sign and also owning a vicious attack dog. That doesn’t mean you should start jumping fences though.
As you’ll see in the following 50 images, there are also other dangerous risks involved in trespassing. While you might not get mauled to death, you could suffer from severe cuteness overload, or even get licked a bunch. If that happens to you, don’t say that you weren’t forewarned. There was a sign, after all!
This vicious dog is a great one to start the slideshow with. He’s just casually lounging around hanging out by the fence, waiting for someone passing by to offer him a snack. We wonder if the sign will deter them?
2. Peaking through the cracks
Check out this little pup peaking through the cracks of the fence. Bad dog alert! It certainly looks a little different than the dog featured on the sign.
Passerbys will get a funny surprise when they come upon this house. Outside is a giant BEWARE of DOG sign, but in fact, there is not actually a dog at all. Just a friendly little cat that matches the sign colors.
This dog is so intimidating, really, it’s hard not to be afraid. After you see this aggressive pooch, we don’t blame you if you start getting a little nervous. Whatever you do though, don’t approach and try to pet it!
Warning, these cute little guard dogs are out on patrol. If you are worried about trespassers at your house, look no further than this duo. There is no better team for the job!
Uh oh. Someone is sleeping on the job! We don’t blame the poor animal though. Even the most hardworking of all guard dogs need to take a nap every once and a while.
Take a close look at this photo. What do you see? It turns out it’s actually a very fat cat. At the end of the day though, it’s probably just as good a choice. No one would want to face that angry looking feline.
8. Golden Retriever on duty
Right on schedule, this Golden Retriever is reporting for duty. This breed of dog is well known for its amazing guarding abilities. With that smiling face staring back at them, we’re sure no one will dare enter the room.
What do you think? Criminals will definitely think twice before approaching this killer. The little Chihuahua is posted up and scanning the area for threats.
Bored Panda user
Trav May had a great way of describing this photo: “I think this one’s the most dangerous. He’s got that whole ‘crazy eye twitch’ thing going on. He’ll rip you limb from limb.”
11. The dog made its own sign!
This creative pup got instructions from their owner to design a beware of dog sign. The end result is pretty funny. Although it probably missed the mark a little bit, the dog is certainly happy about it!
Can you see the off coloration around this dog’s mouth? That’s blood from the last trespasser who came by. If one thing is for sure it’s that the beady little eyes on this pooch don’t lie. He is a force to be reckoned with.
This guard cat is on the lookout for criminals. It found the perfect spot to observe the surroundings. The sign is hidden by the bushes, but we imagine it says “Beware of Cat”, right? No one uses beware of dog signs anymore.
If you are wondering where the sign is, the truth is that the dog ate it. It’s easy to work up an appetite when you’re a guard dog. Constantly patrolling the perimeter of the house is very tiring.
This dog is the most dangerous dog of them all. That guy better watch his toes poking out of his sandals next to the pup. They are liable to get bitten right off!
16. Dog and cat security team
The fine print on this beware of dog sign is pretty hilarious. “The cat is shady as f*ck also.” The shady cat is certainly living up to expectations, curtains drawn and menacingly creeping out from behind the sign like that.
If there is one word to describe this guard dog, it’s lazy. Criminals don’t have to worry too much at this house. Actually, the main thing they have to watch out for is that they don’t step on the dog as they enter through the gate.
This dog has its own sign perfectly matched to its breed. Although you might not have to worry about the crazy mutt grabbing ahold of your head immediately, it will chew you to pieces from the ankles on up.
Joey has his custom made doormat beware of dog sign. Although, it’s hard for him to do much good when he is locked outside and looking in instead of looking outwards scanning the streets. That must be why he is so sad… his owners won’t let him in to do his job!
What’s up with so many people who have these beware of dog signs, but the dog is nowhere in sight? Just like in this picture. All we can see is the intimidating cat.
21. Multiple sign approach
This person wants to make absolutely certain you get the message. For this reason, they’ve included several signs along their fence. There is also not one, but two dogs. Really, this might be one of the first situations that we would actually take the signs seriously.
22. Enter at your own risk
After seeing the guard on duty here, it’s safe to say that entering the pen would be extremely risky. The pup looks pretty scary. It could easily overpower just about anyone.
Another guard dog sleeping on the job! It looks pretty passed out, but you never know. Maybe it’s just a fake-out move to trick potential intruders into thinking it’s safe to enter.
24. Trespassers watch out
Look at those ears all perked up. This dog is super alert, and it is pretty big too. This dog could potentially do a lot of damage. If you’re looking to rob a house, you better choose the one next door instead.
25. Beware of cat, really!
This sign tells the truth, “Don’t worry about the dogs, beware of the cat”. In the background, we can see a fully grown lion hanging out. Now that is one cat you really don’t want to mess with!
The real question in this one is how did the dog get up there. There must be a trampoline behind the fence or something. Regardless, this attack dog is just chilling and looking around, enjoying the day.
Don’t you dare try to enter this property without ringing the bell. This vicious puppy will get you. Or at least, he’ll bark loudly with his high pitched voice long enough that you’ll get annoyed and decide to leave.
This cat just read the sign and found out there is a dog inside with her. You can see it in her eyes… the realization has her petrified. Hopefully, she makes it out alive.
This dangerous pooch has got the biggest grin going, tongue out and everything. You better be careful approaching this house. You might just get licked to death.
30. Brazilian beware of dog sign
Here’s one from Brazil. Translated it says, “beware of dog” just as you would expect. However, you’ll notice in the background, there is something unusual about the dog. It is a statue!
If you read the note it says, “beware of doggie cuteness”. That is good advice. If you get too close, this little pup may cause you to pet it endlessly and waste all your money buying it treats.
32. Adorable, but dangerous?
This dog is super adorable, but who knows what would happen if you crossed into its territory. Animals can be unpredictable, and this cute pup’s friendly demeanor could change in an instant. There’s only one way to find out though.
This beware of dog sign and the accompanying dogs are best viewed in GIF form. As we approach the fence, we soon learn why they have the sign. If you stumble into this yard unannounced, you might get swarmed by puppies!
Wait… that doesn’t look like a dog? It’s a moose! The giant animal just decided to help himself to some tasty snacks out of the garden alongside the house.
What a cute little puppy! It’s hard not to laugh at how ironic it is that it is holding a beware of dog sign in its mouth. It’s pretty much impossible to be afraid of a pup that looks like that.
36. Don’t come any closer
Check out this mutt trying to attack as the picture taker approaches. Unfortunately, it seems the guard dog basically has got its head stuck in the fence. It’s the effort that counts though!
Wow! This dog looks angry. Despite his size, he has got a very intimidating look on his face. He is giving us all the stare down.
We’re not sure if this dog is protecting the house or just hoping to be let out to play. “I’m trapped,” the friendly pooch is likely thinking. “Please open the gate!”
This dog has its very own doggie window cut into the fence for it to look out of. What a cool idea. The sign is definitely pretty funny. It’s highly unlikely the friendly pup will be scaring anyone anytime soon.
Horses are part of the dog family, right? To be fair, it is possible there is a dog somewhere in there inside the fence running around too. At the time this photo was captured though, the only animal paying any attention was the beautiful white horse!
Our message in this one is actually for the dog. Beware of that car! It definitely looks like a dangerous spot to lay at least, buddy.
42. Hanging out by the trash
Trespass on this property and you’ll be in serious trouble. That’s what the sign says. The cute little dog in the bottom right-hand corner by the trash can paints a somewhat different picture though.
Here’s a cool throwback picture to the days when all dogs used to live outside in dog houses. The cute little pup is nothing to be nervous about, of course. Unless that is, you’re worried about being smothered by its cuteness.
It appears as though the elephant didn’t read the beware of dog sign. As the elephant stomps around and snacks on the tree in the yard, it really could care less. A dog is no match for an elephant.
You don’t have to be a big dog to be a part of the security team. This dog definitely knows that. Although she can’t do much damage by biting intruders, she can certainly alert you of their presence. Small dogs have an amazing ability to bark.
Although we don’t speak German and are unable to read the sign, it definitely seems like the pictures don’t match up here. On the sign is an image of a big dog. Staring through the fence, however, is just an intense looking cat.
This dog is playing peekaboo through the fence. It knows exactly where to stand in order to get a good look at the car parked out front. “I’m watching you,” the dog says with its focused stare.
There’s no dog in sight, but don’t worry, this tortoise is up for the job. No one will ever be able to sneak past it, what with its incredible speed and all. It’ll get all the security rounds done in due time, just have some patience!
You definitely don’t want to get too close to the dog that is at the end of this chain. It has to be an absolute giant. Adding a little confusion to the image, however, is the fact that the dog house is so tiny. It makes you wonder what’s going on here?
50. Peering through the blinds
Sometimes people put up beware of dog signs even when they don’t even have dogs. It is a good deterrent to keep criminals out. However, in this case, it seems the dog is definitely real. It has even found a way to look out the window and keep watch, even when the blinds are closed.
