Beware of dog signs are a pretty great invention. Whenever we see one, we often imagine that there is a huge ferocious beast on the other side of the fence, and really, for this reason, they are a pretty reliable way of keeping trespassers out. These pictures show, however, that there is not always a direct correlation between someone putting up a beware of dog sign and also owning a vicious attack dog. That doesnโt mean you should start jumping fences though.
As youโll see in the following 50 images, there are also other dangerous risks involved in trespassing. While you might not get mauled to death, you could suffer from severe cuteness overload, or even get licked a bunch. If that happens to you, donโt say that you werenโt forewarned. There was a sign, after all!
1. Lounginโ around
This vicious dog is a great one to start the slideshow with. Heโs just casually lounging around hanging out by the fence, waiting for someone passing by to offer him a snack. We wonder if the sign will deter them?
2. Peaking through the cracks
Check out this little pup peaking through the cracks of the fence. Bad dog alert! It certainly looks a little different than the dog featured on the sign.
3. Beware of, cat?
Passerbys will get a funny surprise when they come upon this house. Outside is a giant BEWARE of DOG sign, but in fact, there is not actually a dog at all. Just a friendly little cat that matches the sign colors.
4. Be very afraid
This dog is so intimidating, really, itโs hard not to be afraid. After you see this aggressive pooch, we donโt blame you if you start getting a little nervous. Whatever you do though, donโt approach and try to pet it!
5. Guard dogs
Warning, these cute little guard dogs are out on patrol. If you are worried about trespassers at your house, look no further than this duo. There is no better team for the job!
6. Sleeping on the job
Uh oh. Someone is sleeping on the job! We donโt blame the poor animal though. Even the most hardworking of all guard dogs need to take a nap every once and a while.
7. Catdog
Take a close look at this photo. What do you see? It turns out itโs actually a very fat cat. At the end of the day though, itโs probably just as good a choice. No one would want to face that angry looking feline.
8. Golden Retriever on duty
Right on schedule, this Golden Retriever is reporting for duty. This breed of dog is well known for its amazing guarding abilities. With that smiling face staring back at them, weโre sure no one will dare enter the room.
9. Killer on the loose
What do you think? Criminals will definitely think twice before approaching this killer. The little Chihuahua is posted up and scanning the area for threats.
10. Crazy eye twitch
Bored Panda user
Trav May had a great way of describing this photo: โI think this oneโs the most dangerous. Heโs got that whole โcrazy eye twitchโ thing going on. Heโll rip you limb from limb.โ
11. The dog made its own sign!
This creative pup got instructions from their owner to design a beware of dog sign. The end result is pretty funny. Although it probably missed the mark a little bit, the dog is certainly happy about it!
12. Taste for blood
Can you see the off coloration around this dogโs mouth? Thatโs blood from the last trespasser who came by. If one thing is for sure itโs that the beady little eyes on this pooch donโt lie. He is a force to be reckoned with.
13. On the lookout
This guard cat is on the lookout for criminals. It found the perfect spot to observe the surroundings. The sign is hidden by the bushes, but we imagine it says โBeware of Catโ, right? No one uses beware of dog signs anymore.
14. Dog ate the sign
If you are wondering where the sign is, the truth is that the dog ate it. Itโs easy to work up an appetite when youโre a guard dog. Constantly patrolling the perimeter of the house is very tiring.
15. Totally vicious
This dog is the most dangerous dog of them all. That guy better watch his toes poking out of his sandals next to the pup. They are liable to get bitten right off!
16. Dog and cat security team
The fine print on this beware of dog sign is pretty hilarious. โThe cat is shady as f*ck also.โ The shady cat is certainly living up to expectations, curtains drawn and menacingly creeping out from behind the sign like that.
17. Lazy
If there is one word to describe this guard dog, itโs lazy. Criminals donโt have to worry too much at this house. Actually, the main thing they have to watch out for is that they donโt step on the dog as they enter through the gate.
18. Ankle biter
This dog has its own sign perfectly matched to its breed. Although you might not have to worry about the crazy mutt grabbing ahold of your head immediately, it will chew you to pieces from the ankles on up.
19. Sad-eyed Joey
Joey has his custom made doormat beware of dog sign. Although, itโs hard for him to do much good when he is locked outside and looking in instead of looking outwards scanning the streets. That must be why he is so sadโฆ his owners wonโt let him in to do his job!
20. Intimidating Cat
Whatโs up with so many people who have these beware of dog signs, but the dog is nowhere in sight? Just like in this picture. All we can see is the intimidating cat.
21. Multiple sign approach
This person wants to make absolutely certain you get the message. For this reason, theyโve included several signs along their fence. There is also not one, but two dogs. Really, this might be one of the first situations that we would actually take the signs seriously.
22. Enter at your own risk
After seeing the guard on duty here, itโs safe to say that entering the pen would be extremely risky. The pup looks pretty scary. It could easily overpower just about anyone.
23. Nap time
Another guard dog sleeping on the job! It looks pretty passed out, but you never know. Maybe itโs just a fake-out move to trick potential intruders into thinking itโs safe to enter.
24. Trespassers watch out
Look at those ears all perked up. This dog is super alert, and it is pretty big too. This dog could potentially do a lot of damage. If youโre looking to rob a house, you better choose the one next door instead.
25. Beware of cat, really!
This sign tells the truth, โDonโt worry about the dogs, beware of the catโ. In the background, we can see a fully grown lion hanging out. Now that is one cat you really donโt want to mess with!
26. Looking around
The real question in this one is how did the dog get up there. There must be a trampoline behind the fence or something. Regardless, this attack dog is just chilling and looking around, enjoying the day.
27. High-pitched barker
Donโt you dare try to enter this property without ringing the bell. This vicious puppy will get you. Or at least, heโll bark loudly with his high pitched voice long enough that youโll get annoyed and decide to leave.
28. Scared cat
This cat just read the sign and found out there is a dog inside with her. You can see it in her eyesโฆ the realization has her petrified. Hopefully, she makes it out alive.
29. Cheesinโ
This dangerous pooch has got the biggest grin going, tongue out and everything. You better be careful approaching this house. You might just get licked to death.
30. Brazilian beware of dog sign
Hereโs one from Brazil. Translated it says, โbeware of dogโ just as you would expect. However, youโll notice in the background, there is something unusual about the dog. It is a statue!
31. Beware of doggie
If you read the note it says, โbeware of doggie cutenessโ. That is good advice. If you get too close, this little pup may cause you to pet it endlessly and waste all your money buying it treats.
32. Adorable, but dangerous?
This dog is super adorable, but who knows what would happen if you crossed into its territory. Animals can be unpredictable, and this cute pupโs friendly demeanor could change in an instant. Thereโs only one way to find out though.
33. Puppies!
This beware of dog sign and the accompanying dogs are best viewed in GIF form. As we approach the fence, we soon learn why they have the sign. If you stumble into this yard unannounced, you might get swarmed by puppies!
34. Moose!
Waitโฆ that doesnโt look like a dog? Itโs a moose! The giant animal just decided to help himself to some tasty snacks out of the garden alongside the house.
35. Awwwww!
What a cute little puppy! Itโs hard not to laugh at how ironic it is that it is holding a beware of dog sign in its mouth. Itโs pretty much impossible to be afraid of a pup that looks like that.
36. Donโt come any closer
Check out this mutt trying to attack as the picture taker approaches. Unfortunately, it seems the guard dog basically has got its head stuck in the fence. Itโs the effort that counts though!
37. The stare down
Wow! This dog looks angry. Despite his size, he has got a very intimidating look on his face. He is giving us all the stare down.
38. Let me out
Weโre not sure if this dog is protecting the house or just hoping to be let out to play. โIโm trapped,โ the friendly pooch is likely thinking. โPlease open the gate!โ
39. Doggie Window
This dog has its very own doggie window cut into the fence for it to look out of. What a cool idea. The sign is definitely pretty funny. Itโs highly unlikely the friendly pup will be scaring anyone anytime soon.
40. Horse!
Horses are part of the dog family, right? To be fair, it is possible there is a dog somewhere in there inside the fence running around too. At the time this photo was captured though, the only animal paying any attention was the beautiful white horse!
41. Beware of car
Our message in this one is actually for the dog. Beware of that car! It definitely looks like a dangerous spot to lay at least, buddy.
42. Hanging out by the trash
Trespass on this property and youโll be in serious trouble. Thatโs what the sign says. The cute little dog in the bottom right-hand corner by the trash can paints a somewhat different picture though.
43. Old school
Hereโs a cool throwback picture to the days when all dogs used to live outside in dog houses. The cute little pup is nothing to be nervous about, of course. Unless that is, youโre worried about being smothered by its cuteness.
44. Elephant!
It appears as though the elephant didnโt read the beware of dog sign. As the elephant stomps around and snacks on the tree in the yard, it really could care less. A dog is no match for an elephant.
45. Security patrol
You donโt have to be a big dog to be a part of the security team. This dog definitely knows that. Although she canโt do much damage by biting intruders, she can certainly alert you of their presence. Small dogs have an amazing ability to bark.
46. Watch cat
Although we donโt speak German and are unable to read the sign, it definitely seems like the pictures donโt match up here. On the sign is an image of a big dog. Staring through the fence, however, is just an intense looking cat.
47. Iโm watching you
This dog is playing peekaboo through the fence. It knows exactly where to stand in order to get a good look at the car parked out front. โIโm watching you,โ the dog says with its focused stare.
48. Tortoise!
Thereโs no dog in sight, but donโt worry, this tortoise is up for the job. No one will ever be able to sneak past it, what with its incredible speed and all. Itโll get all the security rounds done in due time, just have some patience!
49. Giants
You definitely donโt want to get too close to the dog that is at the end of this chain. It has to be an absolute giant. Adding a little confusion to the image, however, is the fact that the dog house is so tiny. It makes you wonder whatโs going on here?
50. Peering through the blinds
Sometimes people put up beware of dog signs even when they donโt even have dogs. It is a good deterrent to keep criminals out. However, in this case, it seems the dog is definitely real. It has even found a way to look out the window and keep watch, even when the blinds are closed.
