Louisa May is a 22-year-old teacher, dealing with the current Coronavirus lockdown like the rest of us.

For a lot of people it’s scary to be separated from family members at a time like this. Especially grandparents and those we feel are at higher risk.

Louisa’s grandfather is 93 years old and living alone during the lockdown. But he hasn’t gone unnoticed. He received the sweetest note from a very young neighbor who was concerned about how he was feeling.

The 93-year-old shared the heartwarming note with his granddaughter Louisa, and she tweeted it, sharing it with the world.

“My Grandad is 93 and currently in isolation of course – but is in very good health – and he has received the most beautiful letter from his 5 year old neighbor and he wrote back to her. Just please read, it should make you smile.” – hey_im_ginger on Twitter

The tweet has already been liked more than 140,000 times, and was shared by 20,000 people! This is the good news we need right now.

The compassionate little 5-year-old got out a pen and some lined paper to write to her neighbor.

They don’t know each other well at all, in fact they may never have been introduced before, but she was worried about him all the same.

“Hello, my name is Kirah, I am 5-years-old and I have to stay at home because of the coronavirus. I just wanted to check to see if you’re ok? I have drawn you a rainbow to remind you that you are not alone. Please write back if you can. From your neighbor at number 9.”

Of course, no one with a heart could ever ignore such a sweet message, so Kirah’s 93-year-old neighbor wrote back.

“Hello Kirah, I was so pleased to receive your message asking about my well being, and I am pleased to say I am keeping well so far. Like you, I am in isolation, so it was so nice to hear of your concern for me. My name is Ron and I am 93-years-old, I was the first person to move into the Crescent in 1955 and I have been here ever since.
The situation with the coronavirus is very bad, and we must all do our very best to overcome it and hopefully come out of it in good health again. I thought your drawing of the rainbow was amazing and I am going to place it in my window for people to see. I would like to thank you again for writing to me and hope you will be able to be out of isolation soon.”

He placed her drawing of a rainbow in his window so that everyone else in the neighborhood could see it. It would also be a little treat for anyone who visited, like the mailman, anyone delivering groceries, or his granddaughter Louisa.

Louisa is a teacher and is away from her students now that schools are closed. It brought her so much joy to see how caring this little girl could be.

And of course, it’s nice to know that people in her grandfather’s neighbourhood are looking out for him!
