When I was younger I had a friend over for a movie night. I had four packets of popcorn, which should have been way more than enough. Well, we put our skills together and managed to burn all four. I was left with a burning question in my mind: how do you make popcorn correctly?!
If you are like me, the answer has always eluded you. Worry no more – a popcorn hero has come to save the day. CrazyRussianHacker has come up with five fantastic tips to help you make yummy popcorn the right way. So now that we can breathe a huge sigh of relief, here they are.
1. Use Less Dishes
No one likes cleaning up dishes – not even something small like a popcorn bowl. Next time you heat up a packet of popcorn, don’t open it at the top where the edges of the packet are pinched together. Instead, place the packet on a surface so that both pinched ends are parallel with the floor. Using a knife, cut a rectangle into the top surface of the packet. Now you can grab as much as you want without ever needing a bowl.
2. Ditch the Un-Popped Kernels
No packet of popcorn is perfect. You will always find a few annoying un-popped kernels mixed in with your snack. Get them out of the way in the beginning by making a small care in the pinched part of the bag. Shake the packet out over a garbage can, and watch the disappointing seeds fall out of your freshly made snack pack. Now you won’t have to deal with them while you eat!
3. Make It Yourself
Making food at home is cheaper and usually healthier. When you make something yourself you know exactly what is in it, which is never a bad thing. To make your own popcorn, grab a paper lunch bag. Fill the bag just until the bottom is covered in kernels. Next add butter, or a healthier butter alternative, to give your popcorn a little flavor. Next add whatever seasoning you like. Salt and other spices will really add a unique flavor to your classic movie snack. Close the bag, microwave like any other popcorn, and enjoy!
4. Make Popcorn In A Glass Bowl
Okay, so maybe you haven’t seen a paper bag since your mom stopped packing you lunch in middle school. The good news – it’s not the only way. If you have a glass bowl, you are good to go. Add a little pad of butter or a healthier alternative to the bowl, then sprinkle on the kernels. Next it’s time for your seasonings. Cover the top of the bowl. You can use any kind of lid or plate, as long as it is microwave safe. Heat, and eat!
5. Modify Your Popcorn Packet
If you don’t want to make your own popcorn, but you still want to make it your own, this is the hack for you. Cut a small hole in the top of the unfolded packet, and stick in any seasonings you want. Next, take a big piece of tape, and tape your packet back together. Microwave it as usual, and enjoy your own special version of popcorn.
Popcorn has been popular for ages, and with hacks like these, it can only get better. Whether you are having friends over or just enjoying a night to yourself, you’ll love these terrific tips.
