The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we live in many different ways. All over the globe, people are being asked or even ordered by governments to stay indoors at all costs in order to reduce the spread of the virus and potentially save a lot of lives.
But what about work? Well, a lot of us have been asked to start working from home instead of going into the office or other places of work each day, and while that might be fine for some people, it doesn’t quite work for every profession out there.
Some funny folks on the internet have been making memes about what their specific line of work would look like if they tried to do it from home. Covering everything from surgeons to road workers, the memes are spreading some joy in these troubling times and we’ve gathered together 45 of our favorites!
1) Vroom Vroom!
Sports were among the first major events to be called off as the virus began to spread, leading to many athletes from various sporting disciplines stuck at home with nothing to do. Here’s a little idea of what Formula 1 drivers might be getting up to in their spare time.
2) Careful!
Any surgeons who want to keep their skills sharp might like to try some at-home operations on their favorite fruits.
3) See Anything Down There?
Marine biology is one field of work that really can’t be done at home! These scientists need to be out in the seas and oceans of the world. Instead, they’ll just have to dunk their heads in the bath and see what kind of life they can find in there.
4) Looking Good
Even when they’re cooped up indoors because of coronavirus, engineers still do the coolest things.
5) Choo Choo
Many trains have been cancelled altogether as the virus spreads and fewer people are using public transport, so it looks like train conductors will have to sit at home and play some Train Simulator instead.
6) Buy And Sell
A lot of people are playing games right now to keep themselves from being too bored. Real estate agents who are missing work might like to try a few rounds of Monopoly!
7) “I’m In!”
If you tell a computer hack to hack their own home, they might try a little something like this.

Any Navy strategists out there during these troubled times might just have to break out that classic board game, Battleship!

If your job involves some kind of outdoor activity like cycling, sailing, or skydiving, you’re probably not going to get much work done for the foreseeable future.
10) Buckle Up
Uber drivers and taxi drivers definitely won’t have a whole lot of work in the weeks ahead, but asking them to work from home sounds a little silly!
11) I Believe I Can Fly
Planes are being grounded all over the globe, leaving pilots with little to do. Maybe they can try flying something else at home, like a broomstick!
12) Could You Pass The Honey?
How would you like to bring a bunch of wild animals into your home? It might seem fun at first, until the lions start ripping up your sofa and the bear takes over the bathroom!
13) Don’t Try This At Home
Of course, firemen are still needed out there to save lives and protect communities, but for the purposes of this meme, it’s a little amusing to imagine them putting out fires in their homes because they aren’t allowed to step outside.
14) Find Anything?
Archaeology is yet another job that simply has to be done outdoors, in the field, with workers digging away and trying to find historical treasures from times gone by. If you asked them to work from home, they’d wreck the place!
15) Playing With Trains
Here’s another train-related meme. If railroad workers get quarantined, at least they can play around with model trains instead!
16) Kaboom
This is definitely not a good job to have if the government asks you to ‘work from home’!

19) Reel ‘Em In!
Fishermen love spending time outdoors, so must be feeling pretty bored cooped up inside without their favorite hobby. If you put a bored fisherman in a room with an aquarium, this is probably what will happen next.

Imagine trying to run your own veterinary practice out of your living room! It would get very chaotic, very quickly with all those cats, dogs, hamsters, and everything else running around in there.
21) *Jaws Theme Plays*
Here’s another funny marine biology meme. If you can’t go out to see the fish, maybe you could bring the fish home to you? Just don’t do what this guy did and try to take a bath with an angry shark!
22) Keeping Busy
With pretty much no actual sport going on right now, sports commentators could always try making their own games at home. Kitty wrestling could be the next big thing!
23) The Perfect Practice
Monopoly is a game all about trying to take as much money as possible from everyone else, so it’s the ideal pastime for bankers without any work to do.
24) A Job Well Done
When there’s no real work to do, construction workers simply need a box of Legos to keep themselves occupied. In fact, this is probably a lot more fun than the real thing!
25) Every Little Helps
If you’re cooped up indoors with a firefighter, even something as seemingly innocent as a candle might suddenly seem like a threat!
26) A Pretty Tight Fit

27) Keep Calm
This one might be a little R-rated, but it’s hilarious nonetheless!

You can do pretty much anything in Minecraft, so it seems like the perfect solution for farmers, builders, and even city planners who are stuck indoors with no real work to do.

Bear Grylls is a born survivor, ready to handle any situation, so how would he cope being cooped up indoors? He’d probably still find a way to eat bugs and drink his own pee instead of just living like the rest of us.
32) Ready To Dive Into Action
Not many people are going swimming these days, so lifeguards might like to set up their chairs by the bathtub, like this.
33) Ouch!
We have no idea how this actually happened, but it’s a pretty scary photo! Let’s hope nobody got hurt.
34) Not Much Difference
This is one of our favorites! When government employees get asked to work from home, it looks like they’re doing exactly what they normally do.

When we’re all stuck indoors with no work to do, no friends to see, and nothing else to occupy our time, at least we have Legos!
43) Fly Away Home
If you’re not allowed to pilot a 747 anymore, at least you can fold up some paper and play around with paper airplanes, just like when you were a kid.
44) Accurate
EA is a video game company famed for making use of microtransactions and annual releases to try and milk as much money out of their customers as possible, so it seems only logical that they might start stealing money from their own relatives if asked to work from home.
45) Just Chillin’
Here’s another hilarious marine biology gag! These guys look pretty calm and collected down there at the bottom of the sea.
Clearly, there are some jobs out there that definitely don’t work the same way from the comforts of a ‘home office’. How about your line of work?
