45 Interesting movie details most of us missed the first time around

Nothing helps pass the time quite as nicely as movies do. Whether you’re a film buff or just someone out for some good ol’ entertainment, a trip to the cinema or movie night at home is always a treat. It’s even more enjoyable when you share the experience with friends, family, or your significant other. Because you don’t just stay quiet until the end – you get to exchange opinions on the film and laugh about certain details together – details that you realize have been overlooked.

You still end up loving and appreciating the same movies but you’re able to point out scenes that don’t seem to make sense or are downright ridiculous, just like these.

1. That poor lady who took care of all the elderly

When Charlie found out that he won a Golden Ticket, Grandpa Joe instantly stood up from his bed and decided to join him in going to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. It looked really great if you watched it as a child, but if you really think about it, the question in your mind would be about the lady who was doing all the chores for the bedridden grandparents! Did she not feel upset after finding our that Grandpa Joe was perfectly capable of bringing himself up and she did nothing over the past years but to serve him as he laid bedridden? She must have felt really shocked to see him bounce up like that!

2. The huge library in “Beauty and The Beast”

If you really think about it, Belle’s town in “Beauty and The Beast” is not a rich town. It might even be called poor and provincial. Can you imagine how such a huge and elaborate bookstore was built in this town? Can the people even afford building one? Belle was actually the only one who wants to go there!

3. Where’s Tarzan’s beard?

Tarzan may raised by gorillas but he is absolutely a neat man. His hair is long and his movements are rough, but he is clean-shaven and does not have a hairy body at all! Even his brows were well-maintained! Is that even possible for a man who grew in the wild?

4. The twin’s “unique” situation

“The Parent Trap” is the movie that set-off Lindsay Lohan’s budding career. It was a huge success and a truly iconic movie that did not only have great effects but a romantic twist in it, too. But, did you ever stop and think about the awkward situation the kids were in? How can parents even agree to separate their kids from each other and completely cut off communication, too! And we totally ignored this fact because we were all caught up in the family’s romantic reunion!

5. Surprise! It’s the Joker!

Surely, the Joker in the Batman series has a really remarkable face. You simply can’t miss that terribly white foundation and black eye make-up. Apparently, Harvey Dent did not feel the same as the rest of us since he was not able to identify Joker just because he wore a doctor’s mask! Really, Harvey? This is not just about bad eyesight. It’s bad judgement!

6. This poor boy from “The Polar Express”

“The Polar Express” is a movie about Christmas and in these kinds of films, we easily find the heartwarming side of things. When a movie touches the heart, it is easy to disregard certain details which are actually a bit bothersome. The fact that Billy, the poor kid in the film, received a Christmas gift for the first time, it could mean either he’s on the naughty list or Santa was not giving gifts to poor boys and girls!

7. Nate should be more understanding.

Have you watched “The Devil Wears Prada”? If you have, then you probably were caught in the love story of Nate and Andy, who transformed herself as she unexpectedly chased after a career in fashion. Has it ever crossed your mind that as a chef, Nate’s job is considered to be very demanding and he, of all people, should understand why Andy’s career takes so much of her time? Instead, he just went and made her feel guilty about her career and she ended up choosing to be plain Andy again.

8. The real Disney villains

A Disney movie, or any other movie perhaps, won’t be complete without a villain. They always look dark and menacing and you simply can’t miss the “villain” factor in their character. But, have you ever thought that if it weren’t for parents making bad decisions, these villains or dark characters won’t end up the way they are? Sometimes, it’s not even the villain’s parents who are turning out to be the root cause of all darkness in the movie. It’s the main character’s parents!

9. The accent is a giveaway

Have you ever noticed how in Disney movies, the accent of the main character is always different from the villain and the rest of the cast? To be more specific, the protagonists have an American accent while the antagonists have a British accent. Did you also notice how the other characters end up having an accent based on where the story is set?

10. “Weekend at Bernie’s” impossible premise

The 1989 film “Weekend at Bernie’s” may be funny but its premise is nothing but ridiculous. Can you just imagine how people did not notice that a dead guy was with the two main characters for a whole weekend? Did they not smell him? It seems to be an impossible situation that people chose to ignore because Jonathan Silverman and Terry Kiser were too funny.

11. Parents did not want to believe in Santa

The movie “The Santa Clause” definitely shows parents with huge trust issues. Every bit of evidence of Santa’ existence is there and yet, they still refuse to believe he’s real. Children receive gifts from an unknown giver on Christmas. Who else would give those other than Santa, right?

12. The unbelievable George McFly

In real life, a man would never trust another man with his house keys, especially if that man nearly raped his wife. However, George McFly from the film “Back To The Future” seems to be a different kind of man because it was all fine with him! Why, George, why?

13. Grease teaches teens to change to be accepted

We always hear the words “accept who you are” or “be you”. It’s a short but direct encouragement towards self love and self acceptance. But, if you ever get to watch the movie “Grease” starred by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, it seemed like a person needs to change himself just to be accepted by the cool kids in school. That’s not entirely a great thing to teach our teens.

14. Jason grew up.

In the movie “Friday the 13th”, Jason drowned when he was still 11 years old. Did you ever think about why he grew up into a man who was behind the serial killings? Shouldn’t he have stayed as an 11-year-old and became the most creepy and youngest killer in movie history?

15. Mike and James’ history

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan from “Monsters Inc.” just met in college, which was also from another movie, “Monsters University”. If that is the case, then what did James mean in this dialogue about them knowing each other since the fourth grade? And Mike did not even correct him. Was this a slip or their history really did start earlier than what we thought?

16. This Dad seems to have a favorite child

In the movie “Interstellar”, Matthew McConaughey had two children. But, it seemed like he had a favorite because he definitely focused on his daughter. What about his son? We did not see much of him in the film. Some parenting, huh.

17. This dinner scene in Home Alone

There is a scene in Home Alone where Kevin ate his dinner at 9PM, knowing full well that there are burglars on their way to his house. It did not make sense at all! Does this even happen in real life? He even prepared a candle-lit dinner for himself only to end up not eating it because the burglars were outside the McAllister home.

18. Messed up mythology in “Hercules”

The Disney movie “Hercules” is a messed up version of the real mythology. Hera was protecting Hercules in the movie when in the real story, Hera was actually the goddess who wanted Hercules dead! He was Zeus’ son with a human and she was after killing him, not Hades as depicted in the film.

19. The plot holes in “A Quiet Place”

The popular movie “A Quiet Place” captured the audience’s interest with their unique story. But, after the initial hype fades into the background, people have looked more deeper into the story and claimed to see some story plot holes that made the movie look ridiculous. One of these would have to be the fact that the family lived in such an open home when there are more secure underground structures that would totally save them from the big-eared monsters who can kill just by following the tiniest sound wave.

20. Underage dance movie

In “Dirty Dancing”, people got enamored with Patrick Swayze’s character and how he captured Jennifer Grey’s attention. Yes, it’s romantic especially when everyone found out that it was a love that was against all odds. But, have we ever stopped and think about how justified her parents’ disapproval was? Patrick, a grown man and dance instructor, was trying to have a relationship with an underage woman after all!

21. Thanos could have been killed by Dr. Strange

In the “Avengers: Infinity War” movie, Thanos proved to be a really tough opponent for our favorite superheroes. Equipped with the gauntlet studded with the infinity stones, he was an even stronger villain to beat. But, did you not think that Dr. Strange could have easily killed him? The time when Mantis dropped from a portal on top of Thanos head to try to make him sleep could have been a perfect chance for Dr. Strange to drop that portal lower, precisely around Thanos’ neck, and closed it so it cut his head off. What were you thinking Dr. Strange?

In Endgame when they had Thanos and were trying to pull the Infinity Gauntlet off his hand, instead of Dr Strange making a portal above his head for Mantis to jump through to make him sleep, he could have just lowered that portal over Thanos’ head and closed it, decapitating him.

22. Jenny’s secret from Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump did not know he had a child with his childhood friend and former lover, Jenny. He was unaware of this fact for three years and would never know about it had Jenny not gotten sick and finally decided to contact him. Who would decide to do things that way? Only Jenny, I presume.

23. This slip-up that always happen in movies

Have you ever stopped and wondered about how they depict cellphone conversations in movies or television series? Texting a family member or friend should be showing a long thread of conversations, right? But most films and series show a newly opened conversation! How does that even make sense?

24. The Das Sound Machine was better than the Bellas

Pitch Perfect was a great saga about an a capella girl group that went through a lot of funny misadventures but still ended up winning the competitions they joined in. In the second movie, the Bellas joined the world championship and went against Das Sound Machine, an even better group when it comes to technicality and choreography. But, they ended up losing the competition! Why, oh, why?

25. Multiple accents in the village people in “Moana”

“Moana” is a beautiful movie about finding your true self and going after what your heart tells you. It was definitely a hit and people just loved the music and story of the lead character and everyone who was around her. But, if you happen to watch Moana deeper, you would surely notice that the villagers in their island were quite peculiar. They were speaking in different accents! It was like they did not come from the same village at all!

26. Why hike and not fly, Frodo?

This plot hole in “Lord of the Rings” is quite a popular one. It involves the Great Eagles and Frodo’s quest to getting the ring from Mordor. The bizarre question that generated a lot of theories was why Gandalf decided to let Frodo hike his way to Mordor to get the ring when he can always ride the Great Eagles to get there?

27. Meryl Streep’s bizarre character in “It’s Complicated”

This movie’s title is absolutely fitting to Meryl Streep’s character in the said movie. She’s a divorced woman who single-handedly raises three children and she decided to remodel her house! This is her house, by the way. I don’t know why she wants to remodel it when she has three kids to look after. I guess, she really was a complicated person in this film.

28. How can he forget her face that fast?

It’s a good thing that the story of Cinderella is a kid’s tale. Otherwise, it will definitely be questioned by adults! The prince, I suppose, is the most bizarre character in the story. In the Disney version, Prince Charming claims he fell in love with the woman with the glass shoe, but could not remember her face enough to use it as a basis for his search! Instead, he relies fully on a glass slipper that could easily break and could instantly end his shot at true love, or should I say, whirlwind romance.

29. She basically raped him

In “Wedding Crashers”, it is obvious that Isla Fisher’s character was the aggressive type. She was bold enough to chase after Vince Vaughn’s character, up until the point that she had to rape him to get his attention! It was good that they ended up together but it’s not a good way to catch a man’s heart, girls!

30. Batman might have a super power after all

In the Batman movie “Dark Knight Rises”, Bruce suddenly reappeared in Gotham City after being lost in the middle of the dessert. He had no identification and no money to spend, and yet he ended up in his mansion and lived like nothing happened! Are we sure that Batman has no super powers at all?

I always wondered how Batman got back to Gotham in the Dark Knight Rises. He crawled out of a hole in the middle of the desert with no money and no ID and suddenly just pops back up in Gotham which is under fascist rule at the time?

31. A shout-out to “The Shining”

If you have ever watched the creepy movie “The Shining” before watching the “Toy Story” movies, you would probably notice the uncanny likeness of some areas in the Pixar movie with that of the horror film. It may be a kid’s film, but it surely relives certain creepy moments in the gut-wrenching film from the ’80s!

32. Do you know how young Pocahontas was in the film?

Pocahontas was an iconic movie and it showed a lot about being with nature and having concern for it. There was a love story, too and we all got to love the main characters, especially Pocahontas. But, in reality, the story of Pocahontas was based from true events and at the time this happened, Pocahontas was supposed to be 12 years old only!

33. An actual sex hotline!

Disney made a really huge slip-up when they jokingly added a sex hotline in their script for the movie “The Santa Clause” and it ended up to be a real account! Kids tried to dial the number “1-800-SPANK-ME” and were directed to a sex hotline. This dialogue was eventually removed from the VHS tapes but those already released with it were not recalled in order to minimize te attention given to the matter.

34. All the dead parents in Disney movies

Disney movies almost always include a story line where parents eventually die, living thier kids who are also main character, alone and lonely. This image just lists some of the movies with this premise and they are alarmingly many! Having no parents may help in building the character’s personality but still, it is a sad way to live.

35. Beast killed his servants

Doesn’t it bother you that the Beast killed his servants and that this was shown in a children’s film? There was even a frame in the movie showing the aftermath of his killing spree and it was totally overlooked! His servants turned into furniture and he smashed a lot of those furniture when he was mad. Doesn’t that count as killing in their story?

36. This discriminating scene in “Three Little Pigs”

In the movie “Three Little Pigs” from Disney, the Big Bad Wold disguised himself as a Jew in trying to lure the pigs out. This was a subtle yet discriminating scene that portrayed Jews as a disguise for bas people. What a lesson to teach the kids, Disney.

37. Scar as a rug

In the “Lion King” movie, Zazu said something about Scar, the villain, being a perfect rug. This totally happened after a few years and Disney showed “Hercules”. There was a scene were a rug made of lion skin was in the floor and it totally looked like Scar! He even had the same scowl and the same scar on his face.

38. The ladies were not happy to see Aladdin

In a scene in Aladdin, the main character suddenly found himself in a building after running from someone. The room had a lot of ladies and they were totally unhappy to see the boy. Did you ever wonder why that was? That’s because Aladdin accidentally went inside a brothel and the ladies were not happy to see a poor man come in so they looked down on him and wanted him to leave at once.

39. This shadow scene in “Tarzan”

Disney movies are mostly for kids, which would mean that fight scenes or even death scenes are handled in such a way that children watching won’t see the gory details. However, in “Tarzan”, what appears to be an innocent end in the fight between Tarzan and Clayton is actually a gory moment that was easily overlooked. Once you see the shadow of Clayton’s lifeless body on the left side of this frame, I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to un-see it after!

40. This sexual innuendo in “Toy Story”

Have you ever noticed these creepy toys in “Toy Story”? If you have, then you probably saw the fishing hook attached to a dolls legs in high heels! This is nothing but an innuendo involving a “hooker” toy. Well-played, Disney.

41. Will you be able to un-see it?

This scene from the “Lion King” is an innocent moment as Zazu flies over the dessert. However, there is a part of the image that truly resembles something sexual in nature. The sand dunes appear like breasts with nipples! Would you be able to un-see this now that you know about it?

42. Peter Pan and his naughty shadow

Peter Pan is known for being playful, including his shadow who can move away from him and seems to have a life of its own. This scene is a fast one but the shadow surely looks unusual! We can assume it was reflecting Peter’s knife but why would it appear in the shadow and not on him? Hmm..explain this Disney.

43. Gaston’s eyes got skulls in them

The “Beauty and the Beast” movie also ended up with the villain falling to his demise. Gaston was fighting with the Beast when he fell from the rooftop. Children watching the film did not see him die but there is also one thing that they probably did not notice. As Gaston was falling, his eyes has skulls in them.

44. This sexual innuendo from no other than the genie

The genie in Aladdin was a fun character. But since this is a children’s movie, we don’t expect his antic to go beyond what’s wholesome and conservative. However, there’s a tiny secual innuendo that slipped through this character’s lips and only adults noticed it! Bad genie.
