Don’t you just love seeing baby animals? They are so cute! Though, you might wonder why we’re only seeing a lot of bunnies, kittens, and puppies? Where are the baby birds?
Well, this collection of baby birds will tell you why we don’t often see them in a collection of cuties. You’d be surprised to know what these majestic, beautiful birds look like when they were young. You’d even think they are aging backward.

Cardinals were named after Catholic bishops after or even before this term has been associated in a particular shade of red. Before that, they were called crested redbirds. Young cardinals do not show their bright colors just yet.
The little Peregrine falcons or eyases are fluffy and have big feet.

Though, as a baby, the Andean Condor doesn’t look so majestic as it looks so fluffy and cute.

Did you know that the Tufted Puffin is the largest puffin? It is also characterized by their long, straw-colored feathers extending back from its crown.
A Barn owlet looks very different from its adult version.

Their young has white fluffy feathers that will turn shiny feathers as they grow older.
Did you also know that they have bald heads? Also, if a turkey vulture is disturbed, it will throw up on whoever is bothering it.

Chickens are very common so we’re sure to know what chicks looks like.
They are adorable, fluffy, and white to yellow. Though, did you know that chickens can taste saltiness, but not sweetness?
The Shoebill young birds are actually brown at birth. They are not able to stand on their feet until the age of two and a half months. The young can produce a hiccup-like sound when they are hungry.
Not quite what you’d expect from a baby Goffin’s cockatoo but as they grow older, they will turn into beautiful cockatoos. Did you know that they mimic the sounds of other animals, including people?
The Royal flycatcher is known for its striking and beautiful crest. As they grow old, their crest start showing and though little in size, this bird is indeed remarkable.

A jake or jenny doesn’t yet show the prominent features of adult turkeys. However, a turkey’s gender can be determined from its droppings. Did you know that males produce spiral-shaped poop and a female’s droppings is shaped like the letter J.

The pigments in their food or also known as carotenoids are responsible for red/pinkish colors of their feathers.
17) Black-chinned Hummingbird
Born so little and fragile, you wouldn’t even think that they would grow up to be so beautiful. In fact, a Black-chinned Hummingbird’s eggs are so tiny that they are about the size of a coffee bean!
Born fluffy and cute, they grow up to be as big as 50-90 cm. Gentoo penguins are great divers having been known to make as many as 450 dives per day to forage for food.
The White Tern juveniles have a brownish-gray back and gray on their neck, with a black mark behind their eye.
The adult White Tern actually have small eyes that are surrounded with black rings which makes them look bigger.
The young Pileated Woodpecker isn’t at all different to their adult version.
Their call is very loud, a ringing “kuk-kuk-kuk.” Drumming loud and resonant.
No doubt, the Bald Eagle is magestic! From its looks to its ability to fly.
It can reach great heights when flying. In fact, using thermal convention currents, they can climb to up to 3000 m (10,000 ft.) in the air.
Amazing, right? Babies of Bald Eagles or what we call eaglets, are born light gray then turn brown.
The Kentish Plover chicks already show patterns but wait until they are fully grown to really appreciate their beauty. They also breed on brackish inland lakes and sandy coasts. You won’t usually find them on fresh water.
Pigeons are quite fluffy when they are young and transform to their beautiful range of colors. Did you know that they are very smart? Aside from knowing how to get back to their nest, they can also multitask.
24) American White Pelican
The large head and huge, heavy bill of the American White Pelican gives this bird a prehistoric look.
Their young is white, fluffy, and doesn’t have that any prominent features yet. Did you also know that when it’s on water it dips its pouched bill to scoop up fish?
You’d actually think that the young Night Heron is the adult one but it’s not, it’s just how they look as babies.
As an adult,this black-crowned night heron has a stocky appearance and it looks like it is hunched over.
Its head tucked down into the shoulders, and it is usually seen with this posture.
The young Mississippi Kite already shows strong feet but overall, like any other babies, they are cute and fluffy. Did you know that males and females really do look alike? However, males are slightly paler on the head and neck. Young kites have banded tails and streaked bodies.
You’d think that it’s the other way around but it’s not. A male chaffinch has a brown back, a beautiful pink breast and cheeks, and a blue-grey chest.
A female has a brown back, with grey-brown neck and breast fading into green towards the tail, its bill is always brown like the juveniles. Did you know that during the summer months a male’s bill turns from brown to grey?
The young Mallard duck looks like some of the most common young ducks, but when they grow up, the female Mallard has tan colored feathers all over while the male Mallard Duck has a green head, darker colored back and chest, and a white body. Beautiful, aren’t they?
29) Bleeding-Heart Pigeon
The male and female Bleeding-heart pigeon look very similar. Although, the females have a duller overall color, and their red breast patch is smaller and paler.
The juveniles doesn’t show any of these marks yet.
This very adorable baby House Martin would grow up to be a bird with glossy blue-black upper parts and pure white under parts.
It also has this distinctive white rump with a forked tail and, on close inspection, white feathers covering its legs and toes.
You won’t recognize the juvenile seagull from its adult form. From the beak to the pattern, it’s definitely surprising to see how this little baby bird would turn out.
Did you know that Seagulls are very intelligent birds? They are able to use bread crumbs to attract fish and produce rain-like sound using their feet to attract earthworms hidden under the ground. Amazing!
Juvenile Golden Pheasants don’t look like their adult versions. A full grown Golden Pheasant is has beautiful striking colors and are very timid birds.
In fact, they will hide in dark, dense forests and woodlands during the day and roost in very high trees during the night.
Gennets start out as fluffy and cute but with patterns.
Although, they would grow up to be very beautiful birds, with a hint of yellow. Did you know that they don’t have external nostrils as they are located inside the mouth instead?
Often associated with dark omens and death, the raven is actually one of the smartest birds. From a fluffy juvenile to a very beautiful but mysterious black bird, until today, most people think that the raven is quite full of mystery.
Starts as a very adorable chick, the ostrich will grow up to be the world’s largest bird. Did you also know that they actually have 3 stomachs?
Often described as old looking, the juvenile Tit will grow into a beautiful bird. The male tit sings and provides food for the female as a part of courtship.

The young killdeer bird doesn’t show the red ring in their eyes when they are young. Did you know that they perform the broken-wing display to distract intruders away from nests and chicks.
The Crested Treeswift is a beautiful large slender bird at 23cm length. Young Crested Treeswifts are rather fluffy and light gray. Did you know that the adult male has orange sides to its face?
Ducklings are yellow and turn white when they turn older. Most male ducks are silent and very few ducks actually “quack.”
These beautiful Golden parakeets grow up to 34 cm long. As a young bird, they don’t have their full colors yet but wait till they grow older and you’ll see just how beautiful they are.
