In this day and age, security can never be taken for granted. But these people took these safety measures so seriously that you can’t tell if they’re geniuses or flat our failures. They’ve got it all! Locks so sophisticated that even you can’t open, a security guard that doesn’t sleep because they can’t, and a garage where no car can get out from. That will show ’em carjackers!
We can’t tell what’s going through the minds of these people but we sure hope they got insurance. Here are 40 security foibles that are real head-scratchers.
1. Secure Sandals
There’s only one problem — anyone could just lift up the whole bike and walk off.
Sure, the wheel won’t turn, but that’s never stopped a criminal before.
2. Locked drawer
The mom used the drawer to lock away the kids’ phones when they were misbehaving, but they found a way to get in.
3. Polaroid security camera
It points to an old Polaroid camera attached to the roof.
There are definitely a few issues with the setup.
4. Stapler Warning
If you steal the man’s stapler, he will track you down and make you pay.
5. Secure garage
Unfortunately, we still have several years at a minimum until those are developed.
6. Ineffective Gate
Judging by the tracks in the grass though, it doesn’t seem to be working very well. Everyone just drives around.
7. Pajama Washing Instructions
Just to be safe, they made sure to let the parents know to remove the child before washing. Otherwise, there could be a big problem.
8. Creative safety gear
It’s a good idea to be safe when working with power tools. However, we’re not sure if this substitutes as suitable vision protection.
Wearing a plastic bucket on your head probably does more harm than good.
9. Trust lock
The person must be really trusting. They used a carabiner to close the locker door.
10. Rumba Roulette
There are a lot of downsides to Rumba roulette and not really any positives that we can think of.
11. Locked Mug
We’re not sure if it is ingenious or just plain crazy.
12. Horn Covers
However, this goat is free to do all of the head butting that he wants. But you’ll still end up with a bruise.
13. Sleeping on the job
The security guard put up a life-size photo of an alert security guard with a shotgun in front of him so he could take a nap.
We’re sure that no one will notice. It looks very realistic.
14. Well-Protected Spoon
Why else would anyone attach a spoon to a long chain like this?
15. Poorly Placed Sign
However, when the sign blocks the entire bike lane, it’s not really helping.
Now the cyclists have to swerve into the traffic lane to avoid it.
16. Newspaper Shield
He uses a sheet of newspaper to keep his face shielded while he operates power tools.
17. ATM Fail
Hopefully, no criminals notice the repair job.
18. Car Lock
He used a chain to hook it up to a tree like you might do with a bicycle.
It’s an interesting technique.
19. Wooden anti-theft device
Although, there has got to be an easier way to prevent vehicle theft.

However, the reality is that the motorcycle lock can just be lifted off.
The person didn’t really think it through all the way.
21. Locked Shifter
No one is going to attempt to steal it now.
22. Excessive Chain Use
Not only is there one running around the outside doors, but there is also a chain strung through the interior of the vehicle.
23. Trusting Bike Owner
Let’s hope this was photographed in a low crime area.
24. Mouse Trap Bike Seat
Sure, it’s an easy trap to disable, but that doesn’t make it any less intimidating.
25. Using Handcuffs
It’s not very traditional, but it works, so why not?
26. Security Goat
It’s the curious goat – and he looks pretty friendly.
27. Truck Security
We wonder what would happen if they forgot to undo it before driving.
28. Sketchy entrance
One way to keep people from entering a door is to install it off of the ground in the middle of a wall. Although, it also makes it hard to exit the building through it.
If you aren’t careful, you could end up falling multiple stories.
29. Lock Illusion
Someone in the office has too much time on their hands. The boss had better increase their workload!
30. Hanging High
The only problem is how they are going to get it down if they ever want to ride it. It seems like a big hassle.
31. No Bears Allowed

32. Useful Gate
But not this gate. It’s just decorative.
33. Thief-Proof Case
Not even the windows can be accessed.
34. Team Effort
It’s one of the most dangerous things that we’ve ever seen.
35. Visible Door Code
It doesn’t make much sense, but really, most of these security fails don’t make much sense…
36. Scissor Retention Plan
The fact that someone would try to secure scissors with a string is pretty laughable. It’s not like scissors cut string or anything like that…
37. Gate Deadbolt
Someone could just reach right through the bars and undo it.
38. Wooden Electric Fence
It’s unlikely that it’s going to deter many criminals.
39. Duct Tape Protection
However, it’s not a very convenient way to lock it up if you are planning on using it regularly. It is creative though.
40. Extra Safe
Using the standard locking mechanism of the car is just not secure enough.
