Being able to enjoy four grandmothers is a special blessing
The bride Lyndsey and her groom Tanner each had grandmothers and wanted them to be part of their wedding.
Four Flower Girls
To make the event extra special, the couple had the four grandmothers act as the flower girls to make up part of the wedding party.
Not A Spur of the Moment Decision
Lyndsey said that from the moment that she had become engaged, she knew that she wanted the grandmothers to be part of the wedding. She feels so blessed to have each of them.
The Young At Heart
The four grandmothers consisted of:
On the Bride’s Side:
- Kathleen Brown – 90 years old (great grandmother)
- Wanda Grant – 76 year old
- Betty Brown – 72 years old.
On the Groom’s Side:
- Joyce Raby – 70 years old
Not One of The Grandmothers Were Skeptical
When each of the grandmothers was asked to be a flower girl, each of there was thrilled at the invitation.
Dressed for the Occasion
As traditional for any wedding the wedding party usually wear matching clothes. The four grannies wore pale blue gowns. Grandma Betty, however, had insisted that the dresses had to be floor-length as she did not want her legs showing.
The Sassy Grandmas
While these four little ladies may look prim and proper according to the bride, the eldest of them all, which is great-grandma, is pretty feisty. Single at the young age of ninety; she is always on the looking for a man. However, not just any man. It has to be one with a sweet tooth and one that would court her with MoonPies and Little Debbie Cakes. Her favourite hiding place for these when she has them is in the dishwasher.
The Bonding
While the bride had three grandmothers, the groom Tanner had just the one. But the bride says that she hit it off with the other three with no problems. They all keep in touch now via Facebook.
The Level of Energy
If anyone was concerned that the four elders would tire because of such a big event, they were wrong. The photographer of the wedding was shocked at how sassy they were and how much energy they had.
The New Tradition
There have been several other grandmothers that have been honoured with invitations to be part of the wedding party.
95 Year Old Flower Girl
This wedding couple decided to have their 95-year-old grandmother be the flower girl and the ring bearer. She took her role very seriously.
The Decked Out Walker
This 92-year-old flower girl went all out for her flower girl performance by decorating her walked so it would be fitting for the occasion.
The 85 Year Old Flower BOY
Grandpas aren’t going to be left out of the action. For this wedding ceremony, it was grandpa who took on the part of the flower boy.
Memories of a Lifetime
No matter whether it is the grandmas or the grandpas, the memories that are being created with last long after these dear ones pass on. Truly moments to be cherished.
