If you’re a dog mom or dad, you’ll know just how fast they grow. One moment, you’re tearing your hair out in the chaos of the puppy days, and the next, your fully mature four-legged friend takes up your car’s three back seats entirely.
Snapping plenty of photos of your puppy is an absolute must, as it means that when your dog is much older, you can look fondly back on the memories of those early days. Many people on the internet are sharing before and after photos of their dogs, as puppies and how they are now, and they make for pretty adorable viewing.

This guy’s dog just gets fluffier with age. Lifting him up should be a struggle, but it looks like the pair are pretty used to this pose. It’s crazy how there are only five months between the two photos. His name, of course, is Bear.
There’s something unquestionably irresistible about pit bull pups. This little guy is a picture of innocence as a baby. He looks more of a troublemaker in the second picture, though that friendly smile would win anyone over.
This dog isn’t messing around. Even as a puppy, he demanded respect. Just look at that mug shot! He seems a little happier as a grown-up four-year-old, though only marginally.
We’d be mistaken into thinking this man’s dog was a pug at 25 days old. Five years later, and this clearly isn’t the case – the tiny pup now resembles more of a fluffy sheep. He must really weigh something!
The good thing about having a Chihuahua is that they don’t grow very big. Some people find that smaller dogs are more manageable, especially if they have a small home or back yard. This person’s Chihuahua hardly looks different from her puppy self at ten years old. Bless!
6. Impressive snout growth
Dogs’ muzzles are all unique, but certain pups only grow into theirs as they get older. Take this adorable dog named Blue. As a puppy, her muzzle was short and stumpy, but it’s much longer now she’s grown. Look how long and floppy her ears are, too!
Some dogs, like this one, just want to be held. It doesn’t matter that he’s a supposed “guard dog” breed – this German Shepherd belongs in the arms of his human dad. Just look at how much he’s grown from three months to ten months!
This besotted pair look like they were made for each other. As a two-month old pup, the dog looks a little nervous, but at six months, he’s grinning happily with his human dad.
We hope this woman knew what she was getting herself into when she adopted her relatively small pup. In just two years time, he has even managed to outgrow her! Imagine cuddling up to him on the sofa, though – fluffy heaven.
10. Teeny pup to slightly bigger pup
Most people who adopt a puppy only become their proper owner at roughly the two-month stage. This person was extra lucky as it was his own dog who gave birth to puppies, so he was able to bond with the little ones right from newborn age. Look how proud mom looks in the second picture.
For some people, a double act is always better than a lone pup. Giving your dog a brother or sister to grow up with is a beautiful gift. Not to mention you get to experience double the fun in your home! This guy’s little ones look almost fully-grown at seven months, though they’ve still got their butter-wouldn’t-melt puppy eyes.
12. Adorable sheepadoodle
Not to be biased, but fluffy dogs might just be our favorite. This little (and not so little) girl is a sheepdog crossed with a poodle, and it’s safe to say she already looks a lot different to her eight-week self at four months old.
Some of us just can’t resist dressing our dogs up in their own little outfits once they reach a certain size. There’s something human-like about this guy’s dog, Sophie, at ten months old. Just look at her little maroon hoodie!
14. Bigger dog, bigger smile
It’s always nice to see a dog who so clearly loves life with their owner. In the first picture, this two-month old pit bull looked a little apprehensive. Four months later, and his smile is wider than his whole head. He obviously has a great time with his human dad.
This dad looks like he’s been offered the best gift in the world – and he probably has! His two pups are definitely much easier to carry in each hand when they’re only babies. With three months’ difference, they’re already much bigger. It’d be interesting to see them again in another three months – though dad might have some trouble trying to lift the pair!
When you watch children growing up, you notice that they go through a bit of an awkward phase where some of their body parts grow faster than others, and they need time to grow into them. That’s exactly the case with this dude, whose ears were almost bigger than his head when he was three months old. Nine months on, and they look much more proportionate to his head.
17. Nine-month difference
At three months, this dog was already looking to be a struggle to carry. Seven months later, and his owner would probably have more chance of riding her grown-up fluffer than she would picking him up. The indignant face speaks volumes.
Hopefully the full size of this dog didn’t come as too much of a shock to his owner. At five months old, his back legs are nearly long enough to touch the floor while mom hugs him. He’s still a big baby though, by the looks of things.
19. From tiny to full-sized
Our hearts melted a little bit when we finally figured out what the guy in was holding in the first picture: a puppy bed with his sleeping pit bull pup under his arm. Just seven months later, and the sleepy puppy is now full-sized, and full of energy, by the looks of things!
20. Adorable Aussiedoodle
Some cross-breeds are just too cute for their own good. This Aussiedoodle was so tiny that he could be strapped into his very own car seat. When we look at his size in the second picture, we’d guess it’s more difficult to travel with him these days!
Having a dog and a young child is always interesting. The pair grow up at a pretty similar rate, so when you look back on old family photos, you get to see your puppy
and your baby looking as young and cute as one another. This mom’s son and pup certainly look a lot different after five years.
This little pup started out so small that he could sit on his owner’s knee. Now he’d definitely struggle to do that without causing some serious leg cramp. He looks slightly less innocent at six months old, but who could resist that cheeky grin?
This dog and his dad are the sweetest pair we’ve ever seen. You can tell by their happy faces that they have a lot of love for each other. St six months old, Simba is definitely looking like a struggle to carry.
Kudos for this woman for managing to pick her dog up on any of these photos. The fact that she was three months in the first picture says it all, really – this girl was destined to be big. Look what a cutie she is though.
25. A shock to the system
This guy can’t keep up with how quickly his pit bull is growing. It’s not something you’d notice every day, but looking back at pictures would show an unmistakable transformation. We love this chubby dude’s slightly put-out expression.
It really is mind-blowing that in just a couple of months, a dog can grow from being small enough to fit in your handbag to too large to pick up. This girl knows all about that – her grown-up pup is almost as tall as her sitting down.
This woman is the proud owner of two truly beautiful pups… who at four and a half months are starting to grow too big to carry! We love that pup number one was able to fit in the reflection of her makeup mirror as a baby, but she didn’t even try to recreate that when he grew up.
While this dog as a puppy had a chubby potato kind of look, as a grown-up, he looks more like Scooby Doo. He might have grown taller, but if anything, he seems to have thinned out from his puppy days!
This German Shepherd looked so fluffy and innocent at just two months old. Fast-forward another couple of months, and he still has that adorable innocent expression, but he’s about three times his size already! He looks like the perfect companion.
30. Bigger boy, bigger kisses
Dalmatians experience a pretty rapid growth in a short space of time. As adults, they have very long limbs, and it’s not uncommon for them to be taller than adult humans when standing on their back legs. This boy definitely seems more loving as a grown-up!
