Exams can be tough. Often, there will be a question on the exam that stumps even the most diligent student. And when that happens, students have to get a bit creative with their answers. These 30 students all thought outside the box, resulting in some clever answers to both simple and not-so-simple questions. If you need a good laugh today, here are 30 of our favorite student exam answers!
1) Name The Quadrilateral
When this student read that she had to name the quadrilaterals, she decided to take the question very literally. But she managed to come up with some fitting names—that square definitely looks like a Bob!
To illustrate their point, math questions often have to get unrealistic. That’s the case with this question, where students were asked what would happen if a man had 36 candy bars and ate 29 of them. Instead of doing the math, one student decided to simply say what would probably really happen to poor Bob.
This teacher tried to have some fun with their math worksheet by using ghosts. But one true non-believer wasn’t having it, and they answered the question in their own unique way.
This student decided to get religious with the answers to the problems on their math worksheet. We’re not sure how the teacher responded to this one.
This student’s answer isn’t exactly wrong, but it definitely wasn’t what the teacher was looking for. If the student really wanted full credit, they should have paid more attention to the second part of the question and supported their answer with examples.
Here’s another student who took the exam question
very literally. We’re sure Queen Elizabeth II did quickly sit down. After all, coronation day is probably pretty tiring. Still, we think the teacher was looking for a different answer here.
When you think of ‘free press,’ the first thing that comes to mind is a newspaper. That’s the answer the teacher was looking for, but this student decided to go another route with their response. This is another case of the student technically being right, so hopefully the teacher gave them partial credit.
8) Always Have A Back-Up Plan
This student tried their best answering a math problem, but they knew there was a chance they made a mistake. And so, just in case, they decided to bribe their teacher was a cute picture of a giraffe. The gamble worked—the student got an extra point for their efforts!
This student decided to go a very clever route with their answer to this question. We’re glad their teacher liked their risk and rewarded them with a big red checkmark!
10) You Better Put A Ring On It
This student clearly loves Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”, and they decided to use that song as inspiration for this question about Saturn. We have to wonder: how does the teacher know that Saturn
isn’t a single lady?
This young student invented a plant jail to answer their teacher’s question about plant cells. We’re very impressed by the details in the photo. Plus, the student made sure to fully answer the question and identify the most important parts of the cell. They deserve partial credit for that!
We have to agree with the student here: the giraffes in these images are pretty heartless. Couldn’t they throw some leaves down to their short friend? Still, next time the student should probably choose one of the multiple-choice answers.
13) The Civil Rights Activist
The student decided to take a different route when answering their teacher’s question. The answer the teacher was really looking for was ‘taxonomy,’ but we’re sure the teacher was impressed by the student’s clever answer.
This student used some creative word-play when they were answering this question. Since it’s a math problem, the teacher probably didn’t give the student credit for his answer. Still, he gets points in our book for his out-of-the-box thinking.
We can see where the student is coming from here: guerrilla warfare is a pretty big problem for a student to solve on their own. But maybe if all the students work together, they can start to figure out a solution.
We have to applaud the student’s creativity here, even if the answer wasn’t exactly right. We think the teacher should have at least given them half a point to reward them for their creative thinking!
Technically, this student answered the question correctly. This probably wasn’t the answer the teacher was really looking for, but we have to applaud the student’s resourcefulness. That definitely deserves some extra credit.
Here’s another case where the student came up with an out-of-the-box answer that could technically be right. We hope the teacher gave this abstract-thinking student the credit they deserved!
When this student saw the instructions telling them to expand the math problem, they decided to take the directions very literally. The teacher didn’t give them credit for their answer, but at least they acknowledged how funny it was!
When this student was told to show how he solved the problem, he went the literal route with his answer. The result is a pretty hilarious, sort-of accurate answer.
This student
did find X, even if they didn’t really solve the problem. After this incident, we’re sure the teacher started using more specific instructions.
22) Problems and Solutions
This elementary school student is one tough cookie! Their solution to the problem of falling down on the playground is direct and very to-the-point.
This student didn’t know the answer to this question about thermodynamics, and so they decided to get creative with their solution. We think this answer deserves an ‘A!’
We love this student’s commitment to answering every single question on this exam literally. Clearly, their teacher felt the same way, because they gave them an ‘A+’ for their creative problem-solving abilities.
When this student realized they didn’t know the answers to these questions, they decided to exploit a flaw in the system. They connected all their lines, and so technically, they got the right answers. We’re sure the teacher didn’t see it that way, though.
This math student is technically right. After all, the question said to find the
differences between ‘8’ and ‘6’—it didn’t say that you had to
subtract the two numbers. We’re curious what the teacher’s response was to this unique answer.
When this young student was asked how they were able to identify a plant, they decided to go very blunt with their answer. This student definitely doesn’t mince words!
We’re impressed with this student’s honesty in their essay. But we’re even more impressed by the teacher’s hilarious response—both of these answers deserve an ‘A!’
29) Lesser Than Or Greater Than
This student was supposed to practice using lesser than and greater than signs, but instead of doing that, they decided to take the third option presented to them. This resulted in answers that are certainly…different.
30) Out-Of-The-Box Thinking
This student may not be great at math, but they are very good at word-play. Hopefully, the teacher gave them a point or two for that!
These 30 students all showed tons of creativity with their exam answers. Even if they didn’t always get the answer right in the end, they definitely put lots of thought into their unique responses!
