The importance of advanced technology to people with disabilities.
Bionics is a mix of biology and technology that can change the lives of people with disabilities. It uses prosthetics and other devices to help them move better or do things they couldn’t do before. This can make life better and help them join in more with others.
The idea of the “cyborg body” means mixing artificial parts with the human body. This can change how we see ourselves. But saying everyone is a cyborg might ignore how people with prosthetics feel.
Adding a prosthetic can change how a person sees themselves in different ways. It can change how they move and feel without them realizing it. This is important for how they act and see themselves. It’s like owning a part of your body and can be a big part of who you are.
Just take a look at this little girl when she wore her prosthetic leg for the first time.
This young girl from China lost her leg and fingers at birth due to a severe condition in the womb.
But recently, she captured the hearts of many on social media after she attached her prosthetic limb for the first time and stood up all by herself.
An online user using the name “Iron Leg Girl Xinhe” from Jiangsu province in southeast China shared the touching video. It showed the girl figuring out how to attach her limb with the help of her mother, named Kong.
Throughout the video, Kong praised her daughter, saying things like, “You’re so talented!” and “Xinhe is just too incredible!”
At first, the girl tried to put on the prosthetic without the proper padding, but her mother patiently guided her.
“Don’t forget the padding! It’s important for protection,” the mother reminded her.
And for the first time in her life, the little girl stood up with the help of her new prosthetic leg.
When the girl finally got the prosthetic on and stood up, she joyfully walked around and even spun on her bed.
Ending the video, Kong said, “Growing up will make you strong. As parents, we want to guide you carefully. May you live life fully, with bravery and confidence.”
Kong explained that her daughter was born with a condition called congenital Amniotic Band Syndrome, which can restrict blood flow and lead to missing limbs or amputation.
They only discovered the condition after she was born, and she started wearing a prosthetic limb when she was 10 months old.
“She’s been using prosthetics for over a year now and has already gone through four different sizes. We help her put them on and take them off every day,” Kong shared.
One morning, her daughter wanted to try putting it on by herself, and she did. It wasn’t perfect, but she tried for about 16-17 minutes until she got it right.
The video received 61,000 likes and about 8,000 comments, with many people sending their support and blessings to the little girl.
One YouTube viewer commented, “The kid’s excitement, and the sheer joy on her face would absolutely make her mother feel like all the hardships were worth it. This is the mother all the children deserves.”
We couldn’t agree more.
