Mall Patrons Receive Dueling Piano Entertainment
Two men in a mall approach a piano that is situated right in the base of the mall. The younger man calls on the older man and challenges him to play a 30-second session. Then they both take turns and shoppers stop to watch and hear them play. They continue to take turns, entertaining people of all ages at the mall.
A Perfect Pair- Friends or Strangers?
These two gentlemen entertain mall shoppers with their amazing piano skills. It’s unknown if the two men are related, however, they both are beautiful musicians. They take turns playing the piano right in the middle of the mall.
The older of the two plays Bachman style music, while the younger guy plays the “Boogie-Woogie” style. They have completely opposite styles of playing the piano. So together they really don’t gel.
The older man dances around, while the younger guy plays. He wears a stark white long-sleeved sweater, black slacks, and bright red sneakers. The younger of the two is all dressed in black and wears his sunglasses as he plays. No one knows who these two men are. The crowd grows larger and they continuously clap after each session.
Mall Crowd Is Amazed
People are just watching in amazement, while these two guys are having a ball. A man shouts from the crowd “together, surely you can do it together”. Almost everyone is catching this on their phones. A great conversation to share with others that missed out on this awesome performance.
They Do Know Each Other
Near the end of the YouTube video, the younger man then calls the older man by his name. His name is Rick. They each play from memory, there are no music books to play from. This makes it so much more amazing.
At the end of the video, the younger man gives a narrative about Rick. Rick was on the TV Show Britain’s Got Talent, 3 years ago in 2016. He then asks Rick how can viewers find him and he replies “Rick BGT”
The Story About Rick
Rick, unfortunately, didn’t win on Britain’s Got Talent, however, he is very proud to say he got one vote from Amanda Holden. Apparently the younger man said that Simon Cowell was a bit rude to Rick. Rick simply replies “Oh no, that’s fine” “No, he was very nice”
Rick Schmull, 72 years of age at the time, auditions for Britain’s Got Talent. Rick is originally from Amsterdam, Holland and is a retired stockbroker. Rick tells Simon Cowell, he is going to play the piano and he is dedicating it to his cat, meow-meow. The whole time Rick is playing the piano, there is a video above him showing many pictures of his cat. Unfortunately, judges Simon, Alesha and David give him the big red X. However, the crowd seems very taken by Rick and give him a huge applause.
A Great Experience
This was a great experience for Rick and he didn’t seem to mind at all that 3 of the 4 judges gave him the X. He was still very proud of the fact that Amanda Holden did not give him the big red X.
Still Going Strong
Rick Schmull, now at age 75, still shares his wonderful talent with many others who seem to really enjoy it. Rick is a great inspiration, with his positive attitude and great nature.
