Safety should always be the number one concern, right? Well, one would hope so. However, whoever came up with these safety and security designs and ideas seriously missed the mark. Itโ€™s quite mind-boggling, actually.

Here are 13 security and safety fails that are next-level ridiculous.

Seriously, what were they thinking?

1. Inefficient System

There has to be a better way to secure the gate than using six different locks. If you unlock just one lock, the gate is able to be opened. Whoever designed the system failed big time.

2. Creative Safety Gear

Itโ€™s a good idea to be safe when working with power tools. However, weโ€™re not sure if this substitutes as suitable vision protection. Wearing a plastic bucket on your head probably does more harm than good.

This community just installed a new security gate to make sure no one who is unauthorized enters. Judging by the tracks in the grass though, it doesnโ€™t seem to be working very well. Everyone just drives around.

4. Pajama Washing Instructions

The tag on the childโ€™s pajamas from China is pretty hilarious. Just to be safe, they made sure to let the parents know to remove the child before washing. Otherwise, there could be a big problem.

5. Locked Drawer

โ€œIโ€™ll never forget the time that my mom installed this lock in one of her bathroom drawers when I was a kid,โ€ explains the daughter. The mom used the drawer to lock away the kidsโ€™ phones when they were misbehaving, but they found a way to get in.

6. Poorly Placed Sign

Itโ€™s a great idea to put up a sign to make drivers more aware of cyclists. However, when the sign blocks the entire bike lane, itโ€™s not really helping. Now the cyclists have to swerve into the traffic lane to avoid it.

7. ATM Fail

You would think that ATMs would be one of the more secure types of machines. However, this one is held together with duct tape. Hopefully, no criminals notice the repair job.

8. Truck Security

This is some high-tech truck security. Itโ€™s a chain running between the frame of the truck and a light post. We wonder what would happen if they forgot to undo it before driving.

9. No Bears Allowed

It looks like the bear didnโ€™t read the sign. It says no bears are permitted in the dumpster. Unfortunately, relying on a bear to read a sign is a pretty bad technique for keeping bears from climbing in.

10. Visible Door Code

What is the point of having a door with a coded entrance if you are just going to put the code on a sign in the window? It doesnโ€™t make much sense, but really, most of these security fails donโ€™t make much senseโ€ฆ

11. Scissor Retention Plan

โ€œI have identified a flaw in my collegeโ€™s scissor retention plan,โ€ writes the man. The fact that someone would try to secure scissors with a string is pretty laughable. Itโ€™s not like scissors cut string or anything like thatโ€ฆ

12. Gate Deadbolt

Itโ€™s important to lock the front gate when leaving the house. Although, this lock isnโ€™t going to do much good. Someone could just reach right through the bars and undo it.

13. Smart Phone Road Sign

โ€œA road sign warns drivers that they may encounter pedestrians who are deeply absorbed in their smartphones, in Stockholm, Sweden,โ€ explains the man. Texting while walking can be just as dangerous as texting while driving.
