A 12-year-old in Wisconsin is being hailed a hero after stopping the kidnapping of a 4-year-old girl.

A group of neighborhood children, including 12-year-old Jada Miller, were playing in a garage. At some point, a 27-year-old man named Benjamin Spasogevich-Lee grabbed 4-year-old Caylee by the hand and started leading her down the street.

When Jada noticed the man holding Caylee’s wrist and walking away from the house, she realized it wasn’t one of her parents, and she sensed that something wasn’t right. She immediately began running toward the man and Caylee. Her friend, Trinity Stout went to get Caylee’s parents.

Jada ran down the street toward the kidnapper who was holding Caylee’s wrist. She yanked her away from the strange man.

“I ran down to them. I grabbed Caylee’s arm and grabbed her around her stomach. He was holding onto her wrist. I yanked Caylee away from him. I started to run back to my house,” the 12-year-old said on the police report.

“Caylee was like ‘I’ll be back’ and then I looked at him and said, ‘no she won’t.”

The girl’s father ran outside to hear what happened and immediately called the police. It wasn’t the first time that Spasogevich-Lee had been in trouble. He had been charged with kidnapping in Illinois back in 2010. However, that charge was reduced to disorderly conduct.

Neighbors knew Brandon Spasogevich-Lee by the name of Eli or Elijah. Many people in the area thought him to be suspicious. He had talked about kidnapping and rape with the neighborhood children.

Jada, a seventh-grader in Kenosha, Wisconsin, said she played with the neighborhood kids a lot, including Caylee, so she knew her family and she knew something was amiss when Spasogevich-Lee took Caylee. “I was scared that she could have been taken away,” she said.

At just 12-years-old, Jada said that she was just acting on instinct and, of course, Caylee’s family couldn’t be more grateful for her actions that day. She saved their daughter from a potentially tragic situation. As far as Jada’s family goes, her grandfather couldn’t stop smiling when he heard what she had done.

Jada’s heroic actions are proof that it doesn’t matter how old or young you are — you should always step in and do what’s right; to always help someone in danger.
