The Voice is one of the most popular singing competition TV series in the world and dozens of countries have their own version, even the Philippines. If you live in the West, odds are you’ve probably never had a chance to watch any of the Filipino talents perform, but we’re here to tell you that you definitely should.
One singer you really need to check out is Jimlord “Jimboy” Garcia. He is one of the best we’ve seen and the most surprising part is that he is still just a kid!
When Jimboy first auditioned for The Voice Kids Philippines back in 2014, he was only twelve years old.
The video of his performance is something you just have to see for yourself.
As Jimboy walks onto the stage, the video flashes to his parents who are both watching on from the sidelines.
They are both happily clapping and cheering him on. It is obvious from their expression that they are extremely proud of their son, and for good reason.
Not many people ever make it to the main stage for an audition in front of the judges. Just that fact that he was there already says a lot about his level of talent.
Then Jimboy started to sing. You might imagine that a child of his size would have a weak voice, but in fact, it is completely the opposite.
His vocals are so strong and the judges were instantly blown away.
“Wow, oh my goodness,” one judge can be heard saying.
The song he chose to perform that day was “Faithfully” by the rock band Journey.
Judging by everyone’s reaction, it was definitely a great choice.
He sounds just like lead singer Steve Perry.
The first round of auditions on The Voice is always blind, meaning the judges are facing the opposite direction and don’t get to see the singer who is performing.
They instead have to choose whether to send them onto the next round solely based upon their voice.
Well, not only did one judge hit their buzzer, but amazingly, all three of them did, signifying that all of them wanted Jimboy on their team!
It is very rare that a singer gets all three judges to say yes, but if anyone deserves it, it is Jimboy.
He is a very special young man and it is almost guaranteed he is going to go on to do great things one day.
At the end of they video, they show both of his parents jumping up and down and celebrating backstage. The host gave them both big high fives, and they definitely deserve it. They did a great job raising him.
While ultimately, Jimboy did not win the competition, he will always be remembered by fans as one of the top talents on that year’s season of The Voice Kids Philippines.
It will be very interesting to see how Jimboy’s career evolves over time as he continues to practice his craft. He certainly has a very bright future ahead of him.
