This was part of nearly every boy’s childhood, growing up in the 1950s and 1960s. Which boy hadn’t played cowboys vs Indians, or policemen chasing the bad guys? And, of course, carrying a gun was a MUST for your disguise. You could buy the caps, put them in the barrel, and raise some mayhem with the incredible noise and smell, produced after firing the gun.

As it’s pretty much obvious from the picture this is an old car radio that you could found in all the cars back at a time that not even cassettes were used. This kind of device might seem ancient in our eyes, but this is how our grandfathers used to listen to music in their cars. Basically, nothing was automatic back then, you had to set up all the radio stations manually, by turning those round buttons.

7. If you’ve ever made popcorn like this…
This was long before microwaves made their appearance in our lives and in our households. For those who cannot imagine how popcorn can be made this way, the kernels are inside the foil and once they start popping due to the heat, the foil/ bag expands, containing your ready to consume now popcorn.

These were actually films that you could put in a special device, usually portable, and you could see the films like people used to back in the days when moving pictures weren’t a norm just yet!
9. If you’ve ever used one of these…
If you were a child in the 90s or earlier, you would remember these stools in places like train stations and airports. These were actually payphones where you could make a call in exchange for money. They were quite successful and usually, you would see people queuing to make a call.
10. If you’ve ever had a cake wrapped in foil…
Long before your chocolate treats were wrapped in colorful plastic, you would find cakes like these, wrapped in foil. This was back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, what a cute little vintage chocolate surprise!
11. If you can recognize the origin of this…
This definitely isn’t an item dating back to the Civil War, although to the fresh eyes of a child it might justifiably look like it! This isn’t but a pull tab from an old soda can. The older version of cans used to have little tabs that you could pull off and throw away. And, as people were a bit less ecological conscious back then, they used to throw them on the ground.
12. If you’ve ever used this in your classroom as a child…
These were often used by teachers in the classroom when they wanted to have straight lines on the blackboard. This was back in the day when whiteboards and projectors hadn’t made their appearance!
What a beautiful journey back in time! Truly amazing how things that we experienced as children, used or played with, now they are nearly disappeared. At least we can claim that we have our memories to remind us how it was back in the good old days.
