Michael Jackson was truly a legend. Many stars have come after him, but none have shone quite as brightly as the King of Pop. This artists could sing, dance, and so much more.
The young boy made his first claim to fame as a member of the Jackson 5, a band made up of members of the Jackson family. The group was on its way to the top, but Michael Jackson was meant for so much more.
He took off on his own and swept the nation with his stellar performances. “Thriller” became the best-selling album of all time, hitting a record 66 million copies. One of the songs on this amazing album was “Billie Jean,” and it is a masterpiece in its own right.
The song was first released in 1982, and it is still shaping the lives of young musicians TO THIS DAY! Music lovers everywhere instantly recognize the catchy and unique beat. Even younger fans have shown a stunning appreciation for the song.
One such youngster is Brett Nichols. At only 11 years old he was already perfecting his talents. What’s more? Brett isn’t afraid of anything! So when Walnut Elementary School announced that it would be hosting its 2009 Talent Show, this young man knew exactly what he wanted to do.
Brett put on an OUTSTANDING performance of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” He took the audience by storm with his sleek moves and superb style. No one in the audience could believe a kid this young could be so good!
When Brett first took the stage he was wearing a white shirt, black pants, and a pair of tap-dancing shoes. He also donned white gloves and a black top hat. This boy definitely looked put-together.
Brett stood at the center of the stage, where he looked anxiously out into the audience. This was it – the moment he had been waiting for. The elementary schooler had been training for this talent show for quite a while, and his hard work had definitely paid off.
From the moment the music started playing, Brett swept everyone watching off their feet. He started grooving to the music like a professional. His rhythm was on point, and he looked like he was having the time of his life.
Even better than Brett’s snazzy outfit was his footwork; the way he danced was simply hypnotizing. Michael Jackson himself would have been proud.
Brett bopped around the stage like he had just stepped out of a music video performed by the King of Pop himself. He spun, he swirled, and he clicked his heels all over the stage. And yes – HE EVEN DID THE MOONWALK! How is such a young man so talented?!
Brett had a blast performing, yet somehow he never lost his focus. He completed each move with absolute precision; it was as if he had been training for this moment for years.
The young artist really got into it, singing and shaking his leg like there was no tomorrow. This must have been the best act of the night! I can’t imagine anything topping such a spectacular show.
By the end of the song, one sentence stood out in everyone’s mind: “This kid can dance.”
This is the video you need to watch when you need a little extra motivation. Brett’s sweet moves will make you feel like you can do anything. So many artists have tried to master Michael Jackson’s sick style, and thing young boy proved that with enough dedication anything is possible.
Walnut Elementary School is lucky to have such talented students in attendance. Perhaps if we were to encourage more children to put themselves out there and go for their goals, we would discover more students with hidden talents like Brett’s.
