When Alesha Dixon said she had always wanted a choir to come in as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent and perform like Sister Act, she didn’t expect 100 Gospels would deliver.
When the 60+ members of the choir walked into Britain’s Got Talent stage one by one, the judges, including Alesha, were still wondering if they can deliver.
The group, which composes of members from 25 different nations, was excited to perform in front of the BGT judges and audience.
And when they were given the signal to start, boy, did they perform!
Six dancers came from the wings to join the group perform “This Little Light Of Mine” by Listener Kids and they all blew the roof off with their performance.
Everybody was singing, clapping, cheering, and dancing. It was like Sister Act but better than Sister Act.
Formed in Paris, France in 1998 by Jean-Baptiste Guyon, 100 Voices Of Gospel is more than just a choir. They are a great show who works hard to share moments with their audience that are unforgettable.
Choir member Margeaux Lampley said, “Gospel music is emotional energy and a way of passing on a message of hope, sharing, peace, and tolerance. There are universal messages. It’s a musical show… that’s something new and energetic… and really appeals to all audiences. Gospel music speaks words that can appeal to all people whether they are Christian or not.”
Since their time on Britain’s Got Talent, they have gotten more popular in Europe and the United Kingdom.
They believe audiences love their shows because of the emotion.
“We are able to transmit our message through that emotion. Sometimes we are on stage crying as we are spreading messages of love and tolerance and above all hope. These are universal messages that touch all people,” Margeaux shared.
Since then, they have not been the only choir contestants on Britain’s Got Talent that have performed to share a message.
On the Britain’s Got Talent Series, The Missing People Choir auditioned and performed their original song, “I Miss You.” The song was written by one of their members, Peter Boxell, about his then 15-year-old son, Lee, who went missing in 1998.
All the members of the choir have a child or loved one who has been missing for some time.
They wanted to perform on Britain’s Got Talent to share information about their loved ones. It only takes one person to recognize one face. But more than that, The Missing People Choir bring a message of hope because, without hope, there’d be nothing to live for.
In Britain’s Got Talent Series 12, the B Positive Choir had a positive message to share, too.
The B Positive Choir was formed by NHS Blood and Transplant department to encourage more people to donate blood.
The members of the choir either have sickle cell anemia or have a loved one who has sickle cell anemia.
In the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent, Flakefleet Primary School Choir, with performers aged four to eleven years old, came on stage to perform.
The judges loved their performance because it was all about absolute fun and “unbridled joy”. Their infectious performance earned them a Golden Buzzer from judge David Williams.
We should definitely expect more infectious, energetic, and significant performances from choirs in the future on Britain’s Got Talent.
