Music remains an enchanting experience in all the different ways it can be expressed or produced. There are so many diverse ways of creating sound and the way it is performed as well. Whether we are watching a band, a solo performer, an orchestra, or even a choir we can always appreciate the deep emotions and appreciation shared between whether we are the performers or the viewers.
One Australian music ensemble called ‘The Ten Tenors’ composed of 10 singers has toured nationally and internationally sharing those special moments with all those who get the opportunity to sit in the audience. On to their website TheTenTenors.com, they provide a brief background of their history on their about page stating that the group first formed in 1995 and since then their signature brand of music is featuring 10-part harmonies. One of their performances that has since been appreciated worldwide was an amazing cover they did of the song “Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen Cover)” that has over 6,770,000 views and 58k likes.
The stage starts out with an all-black background with blue and purple lights highlighting just the orchestra and the choir. Once they sit down the orchestra and the Tenors begin their show. As the first tenor begins with the opening lyrics it echoes beautifully throughout the room. Then the other tenors join in softly while perfectly synchronized in harmony together to bring in the chorus.
Then it is the next tenors turn and as each tenor debuts their voice we understand why they work so well together. Each with their own unique voice that adds to the greater whole of the ensemble.
Once again they zoom the camera out to show us the tenors as they stand on stage and the full view of the orchestra behind them. The four main singers sitting in the chairs and the other six tenors standing in the back behind them.
Then the third main tenor takes his turn building up to the climax of the song.
Next is the big moment that hits and the orchestra increases their intensity as the Tenors belt out altogether. As that is all happening the black background slowly lights up. Creating an even more magical show.
Then we take a brief moment to come down for just a moment as the fourth and final main tenor takes his turn.
Then the energy of the orchestra and the tenors begin to increase again for the ending of the song. Even the drummer gets to jam out as the intensity of the song builds on stage.
The orchestra then closes out the song and one of the tenors lets out the last lyric ever so gently and the crowd can barely wait to start applauding the performance they just witnessed. A true treat to be able to watch a recording that we can only imagine the intensity and emotions shared witnessing this performance in real life!
