87-Year-Old Woman With Alzheimer’s Loves Driving Fast
Her giggle is so contagious. <3

At 87, this grandma lives her life a quarter-mile at a time. That fact alone in itself is already awesome. Plus this whole lockdown thing does get to one’s nerves. Luckily, there are many good souls out there who are more than willing to lend a hand to our more elderly neighbors.

In Central Coast, Australia where, just like everywhere else, people are told to stay indoors due to the threat of the virus, this young man spends time with his mom in the fast lane just burning high octane fuel for kicks. Sounds good to me.

87 year old Hendrika sufers from Alzheimers disease.

A type of dementia that causes problems with a person’s memory, thinking, and behavior. It develops slowly and gets worse overtime. This usually affects our more elderly friends. So reach out and show some love.

This video was posted on April 29, 2020. It starts off with Hendrika and her son, Jason, just cruising around the block when her son asks,

“You wanna’ go again?”

To which this sweet lady responds to with an enthusiastic,

“Yes!”

Say no more!

The good lad puts his foot down, and when the automatic transmission downshifts into a lower gear, the big engine (sounds like a V8) roars to life.

Hendrika, like a child, mimics the growl of the engine with obvious delight even her son let’s out a small laugh.

At a corner now, he asks her again.

“Do you want to go fast? You ready?”

He floors it again and Hendrika’s inner child voices out her imitation of the powerful engine. She loves it so much that it goes on and on throughout the video. Can’t imagine the gas bill but hey it’s mom. What’s a son’s love for his mother compared to fuel prices?

Jason backs off from time to time. Speeding tickets aren’t cheap, mom!

“Alright, slow down, tiger.”

Hendrika sounds disappointed whenever Jason eases off the throttle. But I’m sure she understands.

The car looks to be an estate. In some parts of the world what we call a station wagon. Now it does sound like a V8 which, in the market, mostly European manufacturers do. There’s a penchant for big estates with big engines and in Australia, they love a big V8. Hendrika has good taste!

This mother and son team would do well in another installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

In fact, that’s not a bad idea. Can you imagine Vin Diesel’s character and his team going around driving fast and blowing up the bad guys only to be rescued by Jason and Hendrika? That would be great!

If that launches this mom and son’s acting careers, put them in another Top Gun sequel. Let Tom Cruise go,

“She has the need. The need for speed.”

It’s a fairly new video with only one comment but already it spoke volumes of the content.

“What a beautiful soul you are, she is having the time of her life and it’s all due to a simple act. May God bless you both and keep you safe.”

Hendrika’s smiles and the joy she gets from Jason’s high speed antics are priceless. Really, all he did was discover what made his mom happy and he went for it. What a class act.

I seriously doubt they’d get a ticket for speeding if they were pulled over too. Who could deny an 87 year old the simple pleasures of fast cars? Let her go! Let this sweet old lady have her fun. Hendrika is the embodiment of “Grand Touring“.
