This vet writes a touching message after performing another heartbreaking euthanasia.
Brenda Gough is a veterinarian for smaller animals, mostly cats and dogs. She recently went viral after posting a tear-jerking letter about the painful process. Animal lovers everywhere responded with love.
Sometimes we forget doctors are just people too, they have emotions just like us. That’s why the veterinarian, and others like her, have such a difficult time with the euthanasia process. Did you know the suicide rate is extremely high among veterinarians and their employees? It is, and posts like Brenda’s can help bring awareness to the situation.
“It is my sincerest hopes that veterinarians everywhere will read the incredibly positive comments (there are over 25,000!) and know that they are loved, needed, and very much respected. If reading those comments will save even one life, then it is worth it” Brenda said on her Facebook post.
The heartwarming Facebook post, explains how a veterinarian becomes part of the family over the years, they also become attached to your pet.
Brenda is speaking for veterinarians everywhere in the heart-melting Facebook post. It’s better that you hear is from her, some of the posts read:
“He’s got heart disease and I can’t fix it anymore. She’s got cancer and there is no cure. He has arthritis and the meds just aren’t working. I want her to live forever for you. I want that so badly it hurts. I feel like I have failed him and you when I have run out of options to keep them, and you, comfortable and happy.” It goes on to say: “She would keep going as long as we asked her too. But we can’t ask her to anymore. It’s not fair to her. I wish our human hearts could be so giving all the time. I wish I could be the person my dog thinks I am. I wish I wish i wish I could find a way for them to live forever. But I don’t have those magical powers. I am just a vet. See the whole Facebook post here.
