Talk a cappella and someone will probably mention Pentatonix. They formed in 2011, growing each year until they became one of the most famous a cappella groups in the world. These five insanely talented singers blend and harmonize with each other, delivering stunning vocal performances that delight fans all over.

Here’s Matt showing his vocal skills in “You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch“. And being PTX, they added their own flavor to the 1966 classic.

The Grinch is that avocado green, pear shaped, cynical meanie who hates Christmas. He was created by Dr. Seuss and has been voiced by many different actors. The iconic Jim Carrey portrayed the green meanie in the 2000 film, How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

The anti Christmas creature can be likened to one Ebenezer Scrooge.

PTX starts the song with Kevin Olusola beat boxing a sick intro. The background switches from green to red and back as the others provide backing vocals and harmonies, creating such a catchy tune that it really wakes you.

Kirsten graces the screen with her bubbly personality. Her lady charms really work especially in a group that’s male dominated. And this lady can sing! She knows how to work the camera too!

Pentatonix boasts of its members having their own unique styles.

We’re not just talking about the voices but the personalities as well. Check out Mitch Grassi. He’s got pipes but the man looks like something out of the eighties in this one!

Matt’s bassy tone leads the way and even Scott Hoying, who usually takes the lead, allows the deeper, rumbling tone of Matt to take over the song. It is about that mean, foul, and vile Grinch.

PTX just has a lot of fun singing together and even the video splits the screen among the members, all making faces while displaying emotions during the song. Pretty easy to sing along to this one.

A group would not sound this good, not unless they’ve been practicing and performing together for years. If you’re not familiar with it, go ahead and watch the classic or the Jim Carrey version. See just how despicable Grinch is!

Over 8.9 million views isn’t so bad!

“I hated to see them lose Avi, but dang Matt, you da bomb! You guys – and gal – are out of control – carry on.”

Says a fan in the comments section.

We wholeheartedly agree. Matt sounds fantastic!

Voices range from low to high, all of them adding to Matt’s outstanding lead. Even Matt’s laugh sounds so menacing. This man could voice animated villains and no one would complain!

Even the beat transitions from the classic melody to a more upbeat tempo. Only PTX could pull this off. It makes for a great song that you could listen to on a lazy, Christmas day. Just don’t be a Grinch.
