“The cubs behaved like little children.” – Valtteri Mulkahainen

Seeing dancing bear cubs in a beautiful forest may seem like a fairy tale, something out of a fantasy movie, an enchanted forest even – but someone saw this in real life!

Valtteri Mulkahainen is a physical education teacher. He’s from Sotkamo, Finland, and has been dedicated to his work. However, on his free time, he likes to focus on his passion, his hobby which is photography.

Valtteri loved taking photos and for the past six years, he would spend his free time taking photos of his country’s beautiful wildlife.

Some people say that his work is truly magical and we agree. This story is about one of this most beautiful work. It’ll transport you into another world – a beautiful and magical moment that only some would be able to see.

On the 3rd of June, 2013, he was setting out on his usual recreational hobby. He was exploring the Finnish forest of Martinselkonen, of course, he wouldn’t set out without his camera and then he saw it!

He saw a mother bear and her three beautiful cubs. He knew this was his chance so he hid and observed them and what he saw was beyond beautiful!

The mama bear was doing her usual stuff but her cubs were up to something else.

“The cubs played among themselves like little children,” Valtteri shares with Bored Panda.

They’re cubs and just like kids, all they want to do is play!

“They stood in a circle and began to push each other, stamping their feet; it was like dancing in a circle. They stood there for about half a minute, pushing and shoving,” Valtteri tells My Modern Met.

It was a beautiful sight to see, just like little kids they were playing and having fun – they were getting a little bit rough too! They were so adorable!

“The cubs behaved like little children,” the photographer told in his interview with Bored Panda. “They were playing, and even started a few friendly fights. I felt like I was on a playground in front of my house, where small children frolic around. That’s how much they reminded me of little children. At one point, the three of them got up on their hind legs and started pushing each other. It was like they were dancing in a circle.”

It was like in fairy tale, it was more than just nature and animals – it was magical and it’s like Valtteri was in another world!

Valtteri was still hiding in a shelter around 50 meters away from the little cubs who were dancing.

“I photographed the cubs with the bear all evening and all night,” he said to Bored Panda.

These bears are very common in Finland but they are rarely seen by us, humans. That’s why this interaction between Valtteri and the dancing bears was truly special.
