We’re all born with at least one special talent, but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to really nurture that talent, helping it grow into something truly amazing.
Being a great dancer, for example, can take years of hard work and endless hours of repetition.
It can be draining and exhausting, and countless people give up along the way, but if you really put in the effort and stay determined, you can do incredible things, as these two talented teenagers prove.
Billy West and Brooke Farrior might look like typical teens on the outside, but they’re actually two of the most talented young shag dancers on Earth!
Popularized in the 1940s, the shag is a classic kind of swing dance. It’s a lot of fun to watch, but it takes super precise timing and a whole lot of energy, so getting good at it can be a real challenge.
Still, it seems that no challenge is too great for these two youngsters as they took to the stage at the 37th National Shag Dance Championships and prepared to wow the crowd and the judges with their groovy moves.
Brooke and Billy competed in the Junior I Division of the 2020 event, striding confidently out onto the floor with smiles on their faces, ready to rock and roll!
Moments later, the music kicks in and we get to see what Billy and Brooke do best, wiggling their hips from side to side, shaking their legs, and twirling each other around.
Right from the opening moments of their performance, it’s clear to see that these kids are pretty special.
Their legs almost look like jello as they wiggle and shake across the floor, gliding around the room and making the whole thing look oh so easy!
And that’s perhaps the most impressive part of all – these little dancers are only in their teenage years, and it must be pretty intimidating to walk out in front of all those people, and yet they seem to do it all with so much confidence.
With super smooth moves, the pair only get better as the dance goes on.
They start things off with some twirls and shimmies, but later on in the performance, Billy crouches low down to the ground to pull off some crazy kinds of balancing acts as Brooke supports him from the side.
The pair complement each other perfectly, clearly a great match, and we can see just how well they get along by the huge smiles on their faces and the happy hug they share when the dance is done.
After a show like that, it’s no surprise that Billy and Brooke took home the top prize at the event, adding yet another trophy to their collection.
If they carry on dancing together with the same drive and determination in years to come, there’ll be no stopping them!
