Going Through The Motions

This young army group was taking their task of showing their audience what they are capable of very seriously.

Many young boys dream about being some sort of professional athlete, but as they grow into young men their dreams become larger. They dream to become a person that can make a difference in the world. This is exactly what every soldier around the world does selflessly every day of their life. They don’t only make sacrifices while enrolled and serving, they also make large life sacrifices when they retire. Many soldiers that have been to battle have lost friends and suffer from chronic PTSD. This is a direct result of the hardships they endured for each and every one of us.

It is mandatory for able-body male citizens that reach the age of majority to be conscripted into the Swiss Army. Back in 2013, there was an attempt to abolish conscription, however 73% voted against it. Recruitment may begin as early as age 16 for those taking preparatory courses, but normally begins at age 20. This leaves very little time for these young men to enjoy themselves taking part in regular life activities. For Swiss women, it is on a volunteer basis that they join the Swiss Army.

Swiss Army Training

Many people do not realize what these young men and women sacrifice to make life better for others in their Country. They are put through very intense training, known as “boot camp”. Boot Camp lasts between 18 and 21 weeks. The third phase of boot camp is when their battalions and battle-groups are formed.

A Sense Of Humour

It is not surprising to see these fine young men add a little entertainment on a day they have an audience. Music is a form many people use to relieve stress. Being in the military would rank very high in the level of stress. Sometimes these guys just need to clear their minds and have a bit of fun. This is especially important for their mental health.

Interesting Facts About The Swiss Army

Did you know that Switzerland invaded Liechtenstein in the year 1992? Soldiers were detailed to set up guard in a house near the town of Triesenberg to serve their country. Funny enough the soldiers didn’t realize they were actually in Liechtenstein, where Triesenberg was located. By the time the local Police were alerted and approached the house, the soldiers were long gone.
