I think we have a future pastor on our hands.

Little kids often dream big when they are asked what they want to be when they grow up. They usually pick careers and jobs that they are most familiar with, ones that they have firsthand experience with.

Some dream of being a firefighter or a police officer, real-life heroes that save others. Others want to become a nurse, doctor or teacher, especially if they are caring and compassionate.

Children who love animals and care deeply for their own pets may say they want to become a veterinarian. If they watch NASCAR on TV, becoming a race car driver could be an exciting job they really want to have.

The publication Fatherly teamed up with New York Life to create the Imagination Report where they surveyed more than 1,000 kiddos younger than 12 to see what they wanted to be when they grew up. The survey revealed that the top five professions kids want to pursue are doctor, veterinarian, teacher, cop and engineer.

Those choices make sense, since these are careers kids see firsthand in the world around them or on TV. Interestingly, 80 percent of the kids who want to become a doctor were girls, showing more of a draw toward STEM careers.

Little Levi isn’t old enough to tell us just what he wants to be, but he definitely can show us. At 19 months old in the video below, Levi can babble up a storm and boy does he.

Levi has watched his daddy, Pastor Ryan Marlow, preach at the front of Grace Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, N.C., and stand behind the pulpit praying. It’s what the tow-headed tyke is familiar with and apparently something he appears to be pretty darn good at.

Before service began one Sunday morning, Levi toddled up the carpeted steps and turned to face the people in the sanctuary. He began chattering, emphasizing his words by swinging about his arms and punching the air.

Looking absolutely dapper in his long-sleeved dress shirt, pants and suspenders, Levi saunters across the stage pretending to preach. He meanders behind the pulpit, walks to the chair, then prances all about just talking up a storm.

You can hear laughter coming from the people in the pews to whom he’s delivering a very colorful sermon. While that adorable moment caught on camera might be a glimpse into Levi’s future, now that he’s two, he’s about to share the spotlight with his twin baby sisters.

According to the church’s Facebook page, Pastor Ryan has been with his wife Megan at the hospital for a couple of weeks now, since her water broke at 29 weeks and three days. On Oct. 7, they had an ultrasound done and they were at 31 weeks and one day. The goal is to reach 32 weeks so that the girls would go into the NICU without needing more invasive procedures, Pastor Ryan shared on Facebook.

“The scan … shows the babies have a bit of fluid around them, which is nice … good blood flow, and both of them estimate to weigh three pounds and 12 ounces … we need them to get big.”

A GoFundMe page revealed that the girls are due Dec. 8, but had developed twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, which is life-threatening. The girls underwent a special surgery performed at Johns Hopkins Center for Fetal Therapy in Baltimore, Md.

While one twin suffered a heart attack in utero right before the surgery, all tests indicate they are doing well so far.

It’s doubtful that Levi has been subbing for Dad while he’s been at the hospital with mom and his baby sisters, but maybe someday this cutie pie little guy will stand in front of God and a congregation, preaching the Lord’s word and leading everyone in prayer.
