There’s almost nothing more adorable than a dog in a costume, make it a two-legged dog in an easter bunny costume and it takes the cake. This precious Treeing Walker Coonhound, is in the race to be the next Cadbury bunny and he’s warming hearts all around the world. He is the cutest, and he sports the bunny ears perfectly.

‘Lieutenant Dan’ is a two-legged Coonhound from Richmond, Ohio, and he’s in the running to be the next Cadbury bunny
‘Lieutenant Dan’ was born a little different than other dogs, he was missing his back two legs but that doesn’t stop him from having fun and living life to the fullest.
March 18th was the last day to vote for the dog dressed in a bunny outfit, he’s up against a duck from Missouri, a fat cat named, ‘Lunchbox,’ and a spitting Llama named, ‘Conswala’. There’s also a hamster, pig, and mini-horse in the race, but so far the Treeing Walker Coonhound from Ohio is in the first place.
The winner of the contest will receive $5,000 and star in their very own commercial
No wonder the competition is fierce, for prizes’ like that I’m sure it’ll be close until the end! ‘Lieutenant Dan’ is one of the more inspiring contestants, his love for life is apparent, regardless of having wheels for hind legs. For over 30-years, people have looked forward to the Cadbury bunny contest
The Cadbury mascot was typically a bunny, but in the last few years, they’ve decided to give animals of all sorts the chance to become their beloved mascot.
Last year’s winner was a Bulldog named, Henri, who people absolutely loved. This year, ‘Lieutenant Dan’ is in the lead, hopefully, he gets the votes to win it all.
“The Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial has been a perennial Easter favorite for over 30 years. After last year’s newest edition, featuring Henri the bulldog, and the overwhelming positive feedback we’ve received, we decided to bring back the bunny tryouts,” Ethan Mandel, associate brand manager for Cadbury, told WLWT.
Cadbury will announce the winner March 24th, and we’re hoping the ‘Forrest Gump’ inspired pup can take it home
If you haven’t put it together yet, ‘Lieutenant Dan,’ is named after Gary Sinise’s character in the Grammy-Winning movie ‘Forrest Gump,’ where he too was missing his legs. Although, the Coonhound is much cuter than the actual ‘Lieutenant Dan’ from the movie!
‘Lieutenant Dan’ is pulling heartstrings all around the country, he’s been featured on multiple news stations in Ohio. His love for life gives those around him the inspiration to appreciate and enjoy every moment.
What an amazing dog, not just for his gorgeous smile and playful attitude, but for his perseverance. The Treeing Walker Coonhound doesn’t let the fact that he only has 2-legs get him down, he plays and loves just like any other dog.
