The world has many talented singers, but only a few can do this!

Filipinos are known for their smiles and for keeping a positive attitude amid a difficult situation. The unceasing friendliness of the Filipinos is making the Philippines still one of the best “go-to” countries in South East Asia. It is actually listed by BBC as one of the most welcoming countries in the world!

The Philippines is also no stranger when it comes to bringing such talented singers to the international stage. To name a few, there’s Jasmine Trias, Jessica Sanchez, KZ Tandingan, the all-girl group “4th Impact, and many more.

The most recent one is a male singer named Marcelito Pomoy.

In 2019, he joined America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Before joining the prestigious contest, he first joined the second season of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’, a reality talent competition on TV which is based on the Got Talent franchise. Pomoy was hailed the grand winner of the said competition, eventually, he became a huge star of the Philippines.

Pomoy and his early life.

The now globally known Filipino singer had shared his life story with numerous news channels in the Philippines. According to him, they were abandoned by their mother when he was just 2 years old. Then they (Pomoy and his brother) were soon put up for adoption by their father who was in jail before.

Growing with no parents beside him, he admitted he had a very difficult life. Luckily, a door of opportunity opened for hopefuls like him, and being a grand winner of such a prestigious competition completely changed his life, not to mention the PhP2 million money prize that he pocketed.

This video is just one of the many examples of his rare talent.

Though you may already know a lot of male and female singers who can flawlessly belt out tenor and soprano voices respectively, this 36-year-old singer from the Philippines can beautifully do both!

In an exclusive performance that he did for an FM radio station called Wish 107.5, he delivered an immaculate version of “The Prayer”, the song which was popularized by a world-class duet, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

Knowing the complexities of this bilingual song, Philippines’ pride, Marcelito Pomoy, took the challenge of singing the song – and he did not disappoint!

One body but two voices.

Knowing the song, its first part is the female part, and you might wonder how can a male singer pull-off those Dion-high notes?

Just listen to Pomoy as he sours high with the first few lines of the song, isn’t he amazing? It’s like a woman’s soul is residing inside his body. The quality of the soprano voice that he produces is stunning and it looks like he’s doing it with so much ease.

Then he goes with the male part… and it’s…

It’s as equally astonishing as the female parts, to top it off, it’s in the Italian language! He’s beautifully doing it all while switching from soprano to tenor voice, he’s switching voices per line, and if that doesn’t amaze you then I don’t know what would.

He is singing the runs, low, and high notes of the song in so much perfection! Again, realizing that it’s all being done by a single person, a man at that, is incredibly unbelievable!

He truly is one of the Philippines’ pride when it comes to singing and to call him a “good” singer is actually an understatement.

Watch Marcelito Pomoy in the video below, just make sure not to close your eyes so you’d know there’s only one singer in it.
