The judges on Spain’s Got Talent thought they were simply gearing up to watch an Irish tap dancer do his thing when he first entered the stage at the auditions.
The dancer, 26-year-old Daniel Sullivan from Denver, Colorado, came on stage dressed in a traditional plaid kilt and skin-baring black vest and introduced himself with nothing but innocence, hope and excitement in his eyes. He was also donning funky lime green eyeliner!
The judges seemed to be pretty pleased before he even started dancing, with of course, a tiny hint of skepticism. They are judges, after all.
After the friendly introductions, Daniel seamlessly slid into his Irish groove. Seriously, the jig was great. He initially was tap dancing up a storm, hitting every move right on the beat and moving fluidly with complete confidence. At some parts, you even hear the audience ooh and aah.
But wait, that is not all Daniel did.
After his Irish jig, he whipped out a set of completely different moves that no one saw coming — not even the judges. It was completely unexpected and out of left field… And it was also perfect.
He finished up his tap dance routine with an on-point split. At that time, the judges were already sincerely impressed… But they thought it was over.
It was very much NOT over, as Daniel went on to dramatically rip off his kilt and throw it off to the side. He was already sassy, but the level of sass had just increased by a thousand percent.
After whipping off his kilt to reveal a form-fitting blue bodysuit, a hoola-hoop-like object appeared to be hanging above him. Then, to the entire room’s surprise, he pounded on said hoop and performed an entirely new routine with it.
Turns out Daniel is not just a talent tap dancer, but a fearless acrobat!
After he reveals this unexpected talent, the judges’ jaws drop as they rise to their feet and applaud the very talented dancer.
He goes on to bring out a variety of impressive moves that demonstrate not just how great he is at dancing, but also how strong and flexible he is. It takes serious strength to be able to do these kinds of moves!
He flies through the hoop and makes it look like he’s about to fall but then stiffens his body and just barely catches himself with the front of his feet. He pulls himself back up to flash a silly pose, and then whirls back around. While he’s hanging upside down with his back to the audience, he sprinkles silver confetti out of nowhere!
Not only did Daniel exhibit how talented he is, but his audition was also filled with a lot of comedy and theater. It’s no doubt that this guy can act and also have a lot of fun with his work. He has got a great sense of humor!
By the real end of the performance, all of the judges were simply beside themselves and so was Daniel.
The moral of the story is don’t judge an Irish dancer by his cover!
