This is the most precious thing I’ve ever heard.

Proverbs 22:6 directs parents to “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will depart from it.” Teaching children how to pray, encouraging them to read from the Bible and singing church hymns are just a few of the ways to help impart the word of God into a child’s life.

Being kind to others, lending a helping hand and praising the Lord are life lessons Sunday School teachers, youth group leaders and pastors hope to instill in today’s youth.

Parochial schools help infuse God’s hope for everyone all day long while students are in class and at lunchtime and snacktime. They often pray before dining together at school, following the directive from Matthew 26:26 that says:

While they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.'”

It’s absolutely adorable when wee ones practice their prayers, standing bold and firm in their faith. They are taught to close their eyes, bow their head, clasp their hands and pray.

Someone captured the precious moment when this little boy led his class in prayer at mealtime. He’s decked out in a school uniform consisting of a red polo-style shirt, black pants and shiny black and white sneakers. He stands solidly, eyes tightly closed, his hands folded in prayer.

Not only is this cutie pie endearing as he eagerly leads the class in prayer, but his sometimes inaudible voice just adds to the cuteness overload.

“Father God, We thank you for this food. We ask you to bless it, making nourishments to our bodies. Bless all of the boys and girls, all over the world, to receive food. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

“Out of the mouths of babes.”
