Who says cats and dogs are a bad mix? Pet mom Christina wanted her Husky, Raven to have another furry companion at home. But she knew it wasn’t her decision to make so she did the next best thing – took Raven to an animal shelter in Lubbock, Texas so the dog could pick out a companion for itself!
In an interview with The Dodo, Christina shares, “I have always wanted a dog and a cat to grow up together. It’s been like a life goal. So I wanted her to actually meet the cat and have the cat get along with the dog as well.”
This charming story only gets better. Putting to rest the notion that cats and dogs cannot get along and live under the same roof, Raven’s eagerness to choose a friend resulted in nothing but joys for their little family. At the shelter, Raven was presented with four kittens. In typical feline fashion, none of them barely showed any interest in the big dog except for one darling kitty named Woodhouse.
It was settled. Woodhouse was coming home to start a new and happy life with Raven. Surprisingly, the two hit it off immediately. Things at home just got a whole lot sweeter, too. Raven and Woodhouse became best friends. They would nap together, help keep each other clean, go on car rides together, and simply enjoy each other’s company.
The two even celebrate their birthdays together, complete with party hats and cake!
“They are perfect with each other,” declared Christina. “They don’t cuddle as much as they used to when they were a puppy and kitten but they’re still always together, always playing together.”
Seeing a cat and dog get along isn’t as rare as we think it is. Raven and Woodhouse’s relationship is proof that pet owners can enjoy the best of both worlds.
