For years, airlines have let infants who are sitting on their parents’ lap fly for free. But typically, you’ll have to pay adult fares for kids who have their own seat. Now, one airline has decided to offer free flights for older kids, making it easier than ever for parents to take vacations with their families.
Frontier Airlines has announced a new program called Kids Fly Free. Under this program, the airline is letting kids who are 14 or younger fly for free with an adult.
There are a few conditions for this deal. To get this great deal, you’ll have to join Frontier Airlines’ Discount Den club, which costs $59.99 per year. The Kids Fly Free deal is available on select domestic flights. To see which flights are available, head to Frontier’s website and look for the ‘Kids Fly Free’ logo on the website’s booking page.
A Discount Den membership will give you lots of other great perks in addition to free flights for kids.
The Discount Den membership lasts for one year. With this membership, you’ll get access to lower fares, and you’ll be the first to learn about new destinations Frontier is flying to and new promotions. You’ll also earn Frontier Miles for every flight you purchase—just be aware that you won’t earn miles on flights booked through the Kids Fly Free program.
Frontier isn’t the only airline offering free flights for kids.
Many airlines run promotions where they allow kids to fly for free or for lower rates. One of these airlines is Southwest. On this airline, kids who are 11 or under can fly at a discounted rate.
This fare is available for children traveling with an adult, and you’ll have to provide the airline with proof of age. You can upload your child’s birth certificate to Southwest’s website before you fly, or you can bring proof of age with you to the airport.
Many other airlines also offer deals for kids on a regular basis.
Virgin Atlantic often offers a 25 percent discount for kids who are 11 or younger. Or, if you’re traveling within the UK, British Airways sometimes allows kids who are 12 or younger to fly for free.
Scandinavian Airlines also sometimes offers discounted flights for kids 11 or under from select U.S. cities to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
Or, if you’re looking for a tropical vacation, Air Tahiti Nui regularly offers discounted flights for kids who are 11 or younger. Plus, Qatar Airways also often lets kids 11 and under fly for free. For more details on all these airlines’ deals, head here!
