The bond between a mother and child is unbreakable. Even when the child grows up, their mother will still always worry about them and want to take care of them. And as one sweet mother and son showed, this bond can last until the child is elderly themselves!

Tom is the oldest of four children. He has two sisters named Barbara and Margi, and he also had another sister named Janet who tragically died when she was 13.

Tom has always lived with his mother, and because of that, they share a special bond. For most of his life, Tom worked as a painter in his hometown of Liverpool. His mom Ada worked as an auxiliary nurse at the Mill Road Hospital.

For years, Tom and Ada happily lived together. But in 2016, Tom realized he needed more help. And so, he moved into the Moss View Care Home in Huyton.

Ada missed her son, and she also worried him being alone in the care home. And so, in 2017, she moved into the same care home to look after him!

Ada loves being in the same care home as Tom.

“I say goodnight to Tom in his room every night and I’ll go and say good morning to him. I’ll tell him I’m coming down for breakfast. When I go out to the hairdressers he’ll look for me to see when I’m coming back. When I get back he’ll come to me with his arms outstretched and give me a big hug. You never stop being a mum!” Ada told the Liverpool Echo.

Tom’s sisters and their children are so happy that Tom and Ada are together.

Barbara, Margi, and their kids regularly visit Tom and Ada at the care home. They love seeing how well the two are doing together.

“There’s no parting them!” Debi Wingham, Ada’s granddaughter, said. “It’s reassuring for us that they’re both getting looked after 24/7.”

All the workers at the care home are also touched by Tom and Ada’s close relationship. The care home’s manager, Philip Daniels, said that it’s rare to see mothers and children together in care homes. It’s incredible to see Ada and Tom’s bond.

“They are inseparable,” Daniels said.

In a sweet interview, Ada and Tom discussed what they do every day in the care home.

Ada told the interviewer that she likes Tom to take at least an hour nap each day after lunch. Then, they sit together and enjoy a cup of tea. After that, they head upstairs to watch TV together. The pair love spending time together!
