Friendship years in the making

Chris is a kind man known in his neighborhood for greeting dogs with a smile and dog treats in his pocket. His generosity made him popular with dog lovers and dogs alike. It’s already hard keeping up with loved ones you haven’t seen for weeks. Imagine how hard it was on the neighborhood dogs and their owners as weeks turned to months with no word from their friend. It’s not hard to imagine the questions, doubts, and fears that ran through everyone’s mind whenever they thought about Chris. Especially since Chris had become as much a part of their lives as their faithful canines.

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder and it was certainly true on one faithful morning.

He’s back

The video explains that after so much time apart, Paul got to see his dear elderly friend. The scene takes place, we can assume, outside of Cumberland Farms, on a day like any other. Paul and his owner couldn’t have expected to see Chris, but when they saw him, Paul loses his cool and rushes to greet his pal. You can hear the moment when Chris noticed Paul, as he calls out Paul’s name even over the sweet music.

Then the video focuses on Chris and Paul as they reconnect. The elderly man lowers his mask so he can give Paul one of his bright warm smiles. Paul hops up on Chris showering him in affection and love. Paul’s owner can be heard smiling when she asks Paul to be a good dog, but there was no room for chill in Paul’s happiness. Chris shares the same excitement as he pats the white fluffy dog and tells Paul how much he was missed.

After that, Chris turns to gather up some of the treats he had lined up and waiting for good dogs like Paul. He hand feeds Paul in a heartfelt moment. Paul’s owner has a small chat with Chris while the dog enjoys his treat. She asks Chris if he’s feeling better since it’s been so long. Chris looks to the camera and shares some wonderful news:

“Yes, I’m getting much better”
