No matter how old some women get, they will always be “daddy’s little girl.” But the feelings can be mutual for the father as well. No matter the age of the daughter, she’ll forever be his “baby.”
One dad planned a special song for his baby-girl on her wedding day. It was so emotional, that it left not a dry eye in the church.
Many couples try and make their wedding extra unique. From creating surprise dances during the reception, or kicking the ceremony up a notch with flare – it’s fun to see what some people come up with.
Following tradition, the dad in the video below planned to walk his daughter down the aisle. However, he wanted to make it even more of a moment they’d never forget.
The man, as it turns out, is an incredible singer with a voice that deeply touches souls. His gift was serenading his daughter as they made their way towards the altar.
Everyone watched as they entered the church at the end of the aisle. The father held onto the bride’s hand and looked lovingly into her eyes. He then began singing, “Walk With You,” by Edwin McCain.
If you’ve never heard the song before, the lyrics alone are enough to make a person weepy. The dad beautifully sang,
“I’ll take this slow sweet walk with you. You’ll let go of my hand to say I do. And he has discovered how blessed a life can be – I know ’cause all those years ago someone handed you to me.”
The reason why it sounds like the perfect wedding tune has to do with the fact that McCain wrote “Walk With You” for a friend’s daughter that was tying the knot. During that time too, he had his own little girl on the way.
McCain explained to The Morning Call how “It just sort of all collided” – becoming a song that expressed the feelings a dad has walking his daughter to the altar.
He also described how emotional it was creating “Walk With You.”
“It was hard to get through that song for the first year or so I was playing it. … It’s definitely a heavy song. It was beautiful, though. It was really a touching deal.”
In the video, the dad sings during their entire “slow sweet walk” down the aisle. The guests look on silently, but it’s obvious they’d be passing around boxes of tissues if they could.
The scene is so heart-tugging that even the pastor wipes tears out of his eyes. Although the bride keeps her composure, she surely was feeling her father’s love very deeply during those moments.
He continued,
“I can’t help thinking that I’m the lucky one – you’re still my baby daughter, and now I’ve gained a son.”
The internet couldn’t help but get emotional too watching this father sing to his daughter on her big day. In fact, the video went viral and has been viewed more than five million times.

A woman’s wedding is supposed to be an event that she’ll never forget. But what this dad did for his “little girl” took it to a different level.
