There is no shortage of items that can be used to decorate a Christmas Tree. Also, airports can afford to buy expensive ornaments if they chose to, and many of them do except for one.

Vilnius Making A Statement With Their Christmas Tree

Every airport has a collection of items that they have confiscated from passengers. These accumulate over the year and can range from simple items as well as dangerous ones that include scissors, lighters and all kinds of blades. It is surprising as to how many people simply do not check the rules of what is allowed and what is not when flying.

Once these items have been confiscated they are not returned to the owner. So, for the most part, they just end up collecting dust in the security division of the airports.

It seems like somebody at Vilnius Airport thought that not only could they be put to good use for decorating the Christmas tree but would also serve as a very potent reminder.

Quite A Collection

It doesn’t take much of a look to see what the most common items are that have been confiscated. Look at the number of scissors. Imagine there being enough to totally decorate the tree.

Why would anyone think about taking a garden shovel with them

A Gun?

Not sure if this gun was wrapped like this when it was confiscated or it was done for the purposes of the tree decorating. Chance are it is just a paper one to show that this is one type of item that has been confiscated.

Lighter?

This one can be a bit confusing because some lighters are allowed to be carried onto airplanes and others are not. Also, each airline may have its own policy regarding this. In this case, it appears that one lighter at least was not allowed and ended up on the confiscated tree.

CorkScrews

It would seem that the person who was carrying this particular item onboard was perhaps thinking of enjoying a bottle of wine. I wonder if they were carrying this and whether it got confiscated too? It is not showing on the tree so not likely.

What Tops It All?

The tree is mesmerizing and each item captures the attention. However, what also stands out is the topper. A start made of Cheese Knives. These are all identical and look like they have been spray painted. So not likely that this entire bunch was confiscated. However, perhaps one or two different types were seized, which gave the idea to make a topper of these ones.

The Purpose Of The Tree

The tree has become a topic of conversation for many of those who have got to see it first hand as well as seeing it online. What should not be forgotten is the message that the tree is meant to send.

Do not attempt to take prohibited items on board with you when flying. Check the prohibited list for flying to avoid any embarrassment and loss of items that are prohibited.
