America is a place that likes to do things bigger and better than anyone else. This goes for everything. Even sleep.

Take a look at these beds. They’re not just big: They’re humongous.

If you’ve ever had to share a bed with a child, the appeal of such luxuriously large beds is obvious. The battle for space between man, woman and their little person can get nasty, fasty. Anyone who says that children are so sweet has obviously never been pushed to the side of the bed all night!

That’s why Taylor & Wells created the ultimate in family bed solutions.

The company’s new mattress, named “the Family Bed XL” is an astonishing 84” x 144” x 14”. That means that it takes up a whole 84 square feet! That could mean a tight squeeze for many people living in apartments, where the average bedroom size in America is 132 square feet.

So yes, it’s huge, but is it comfortable?

Taylor & Wells claim that yes, it’s extremely comfy! It’s crafted with cooling gels, memory foams and other amazing materials that ensure comfort knows no bounds.

Some may think that such a gigantic mattress also comes with a gigantic price tag.

Well, they’d be absolutely right. One Family Bed XL mattress costs $2,300.

But it gets even more expensive. That cost is just for the mattress. Not the bed frame. Not the sheet (which costs a whopping $250). Not anything else that needs to be hugely sized to fit this bed.

But will it be successful?

It’s already proved to be a huge hit in America. Any parent could have guessed that already, but its appeal appears to have outshone even the manufacturers’ expectations. Taylor & Wells’s bed sold out shortly after launch. There’s also no news on when more will be available.

But what if someone needs one NOW!

Then they’re in luck. There happens to be one other company online that sells these mega beds. The Ace Collection produces 12 foot and 9-foot beds that are very similar to Taylor & Well’s design (just don’t tell the company that we said that.)

But there’s a catch.

The Ace Collection’s beds are more expensive than Taylor & Wells’s offering.

The Ace Collection’s family size mattress costs $3,000, which is $800 more than Taylor & Wells. But hey, at least you can actually get one right now!

For anyone who demands luxury yet strives for a good price, then it’s probably a good idea to wait until Black Friday, or a similar holiday.

Luckily, Black Friday is only a few weeks away, meaning that family bed battles may be gone soon!

Also, Ace Collection has created a handy list of do’s and don’ts for anyone interested in buying a giant mattress. Its handy advice includes the following pearls of wisdom:

“It’s not a trampoline. Don’t let the kids jump on your sleep set.”

“Give it good support. Use a sturdy bed frame.”

“Rotate regularly. Rotating your mattress around every couple of months will help equalize the wear and tear that normally occurs.”

For all the happy families out there that will soon have comfortable and spacious bed arrangements, we wish you good night, sweet dreams and happy sharing!
