If you don’t know who Celine Dion is, you’ve been living under a rock for the past 30 years.

Dion is a global singing superstar with a career spanning decades.

She began performing in her native Quebec even before she turned 13 years old.

In 1982, she won the gold medal at the 13th Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo.

She was only 14 years old.

She went on to win the prestigious Eurovision contest in 1988.

Two years later, Dion entered the American market with her first English album, Unison.

Her single reached gold, and popular talk show host Jay Leno told her she would have an extraordinary career.

He was right.

In 1992, she sang the theme song of the Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast” with Peabo Bryson.

The song became number one worldwide and won a Grammy and Academy Awards.

At the age of 24, she performed during the Oscars broadcast.

She went on to have hit after hit, including the songs “Power of Love” and “My Heart Will Go On” which spent several weeks as number one on the Billboard Chart.

Dion is among the top 10 best-selling females of all time.

While her career has been like a dream come true, her personal life has had its own challenges.

In 2016, she lost her long-time husband Rene Angelil, to cancer.

He was also the person who helped guide her career since she was 12 years old.

Recently, Dion announced on her social media accounts that she has been dealing with health issues for the a number of years.

She also announced that she had been diagnosed stiff-man syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder.

“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of daily life. Sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” Dion shared in the video.

Because it is very rare, there is no direct cure and there are limited ways of treating this syndrome.

She also announced that she would not be able to push through with her planned concert in February 2023 due to her health situation.

It was initially planned for 2022 but got delayed to February 2023.

Dion also shared that she is working closely with a team of doctors to help her get back to performing, including working everyday with her sports medicine therapist.

“For me to reach you again, I have no choice but to concentrate on my health at this moment. And I have hope that I’m on the road to recovery. This is my focus and I’m doing everything I can to recuperate,” Celine also shared.

Dion ended the video thanking her fans for their words of encouragement and telling her fans how much she loved them.

There’s no doubt that Celine Dion belongs on stage with her “once in a generation” voice as coined by the Wall Street Journal.
